HTML - Image Hyperlink Refreshing The Page

Hi All,

Possibly a double question here. On the main page of my website I plan to put an image (jpg or bmp) of the province divided into the three zones representing our organization. My intent is to set it up so that if your mouse goes over one of the zones, it will become hilighted and if you click it will link you to the website for that zone.

So the question becomes:

A) Do I need to create the image as 3 separate images or just one image? If 3 images how do I tell it to display correctly?

B) How do I do the rollover with link?

Hi, I have a large image on my website. I need to make a small area of it clickable with a hyperlink. How can I do this without cutting the image up. I thought about putting a transparent image on the area I want hyperlinked. Are there any easier ways?

I need a hyperlink to be run from another page other than it resides on.

The hyperlink itself calls a script function which only recognizes the input from the one specific page the hyperlink is on. (the hyperlink script call looks like; [page5_url])

I have design constraints forcing that hyperlink to be actived from *another* page.


How is best to do this? Simplest measure possible is what im' looking for.


I'm not a script writer, so, I really need help on this one.

In restyling my website, I've decided to use more icons for links than I previously have done. However, rather than have text above each icon to explain what it does, i'd rather have a tooltip type alternate text feature that describes the link as the user hovers over it.

Problem is, I can't get it to work. My code is below:
<a href="startthread.php"><img src="IMAGES/newthreadicon.jpg" alt="start a new thread" /></a>
When I hover over it, nothing happens although the link works fine.

Is there something wrong with my code or could it be my browser settings?

Hi, I am putting an hyperlink to a graphic and addional to this an alternate text on it. The link works well opening the webpage in a new window but when I put the mouse over the image I don't see the alt text

I've never had this problem before but I uploaded a lot of images and put them in a gallery using an image hyperlink with thel image being a thumbnail and the link being the larger image. The problem is when I click the thumbnail the larger image has this white background around it. Is there anyway to fix this? or What am I doing wrong?

Hi i am new to HTML and have a really basic question. I am trying to teach myself HTML from scratch and came across adding a hyperlink to an image.

i found this HTML below on a practice web site and undestand that the
<a href="default.asp"> is where the hyperlink links to, but when i changed this to a website for example www.google.com it didn't go to the google page it just said error why is this?

Also the "smiley.gif" where does this come from if i wanted to change the picture that you click on how would i do this ??

Hello everyone,

I have an image inside a div, when I try to make the image a clickable hyperlink the image disappears and there is nothing to click or see.

I tried an alternative way by making the Div a hyperlink with the following code...

This works except for a couple problems...1st when hovering over the link nothing is shown in the browser status bar and 2nd, the target="_blank" isn't working.

On the left hand side there are 6 images (one is not showing) which i would like to make links.

I made the first (from the left) one work by making the Div that contains the image a link, but I can't get the link to open in a new window and I don't like how the browser (i'm using chrome) status bar doesn't show anything when hovering over the link.

The 2nd icon (which can't be seen) disappears whenever I add <a href></a> tags around it.

The images are in the correct folder.

Anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Ladies and gentlemen,

I'm just a beginner to HTML. I'm trying to develop my own web page but there is still lots of things under construction. Now just the home page and some of hyperlinks are finished and available. Most of other hyperlinks are unavailable and under construction, that's why when I click over these unavail. hyperlink, the browser always tell me "the page can not be displayed"...

My idea is that I would like to know how to displayed a specific page which has the message "Sorry, this page is currently under construction". So everytime I cick over any link that is unavailable, it will show me this particular page with the message on...

Does anynbody know how to do this, could you please advise me how to write code to get this done. Please help me, your help is highly appreciated...

Now i need help because, i want to link each picture on the slideshow to a differnet page or external site, but im not sure how. (but so they can go to different pages not the same one)

I am using the body onload to open a new window but is it possible to check if the window is already open and if so to not refresh it as I am using it as a music player and hitting the home link starts it off again. Any suggestions and if so as much detail as possible would be greatly appreciated :-)

Alright, I'm new here and I'm sure I will require help a lot of time, so thank you guys in advance.

Here's my first problem.. I'm making a website that doesn't take all the page, but just a rectangle in the middle of it. I want to use a background that will fit around that rectangle. Here, everything is okay. But I noticed a little thing that bugs it all : When I press on the Refresh Button, the rectangle suddenly moves to go a little bit on the top and on the left. I fear it will bug all my background when visitors will refresh. So here is the temporary website with a test background...

...Get on it, press REFRESH, you will see, the rectangle moves just a little. Is there any way I could fix that up, or is anybody able to find out where the problem is, because I just can't figure it out. Table? Page? Flash? By myself, it's about the percentages used in the tables and the use of alignements, but I'm still not sure.

I've been developing a few webpages using frames and I've encountered a small disadvantage with it. When you refresh from a random link using frames, you go back to the index/homepage again. Is there any possible solution to stick to the page you were on previously even though you refresh the page?

I just changed the logo for a site and now because the width and height dimensions are different from the old one the logo will look skewed to old customers coming to the site without refreshing their browsers. How do I solve this problem?

Well, here's the gig.

I'm using a select tag such as (I've dimmed it down so it is easier to follow):

As you can see it is using the function "update()" when someone selects an option from the drop down list. The update function looks like this:

Now I want it to refresh another frame with the id "datascreen", not the current frame that it is in.

I'm using vertical frames, the follow is the code:

Now, the select drop down menu is in the admin.php, and I want this action to refresh/reload showdata.php. Hopefully someone can help me with this.
