HTML - Fastest Way To Render The Contents Of A Html File
I am trying to read an HTML file from a file system and render it.
What would be the fastest way to read and render such a HTML file? Tried iFrame and setting the inner HTML of a div tag. But both were equally slow. (surprisingly iFrame was better) Similar TutorialsI am hoping that someone from this forum might be able to help me. I have a site based off of php and recently installed an add on in the form of a portal page. I have been working with the developer of the portal add on and we are both stumped as to why I am having a specific problem. Here is the portal page: https://www.gunsgrubandgold.com/forum/portal.php If you notice the page renders PERFECT in Fire Fox, however in IE8 the information boxes are all squashed together. If I use this in the overall header Code: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" /> Then the page renders perfect in IE8 but then I have issues in the text box area when posting of having the cursor scroll up (which I guess is an IE8 issue) If I use this in the overall header Code: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> then the portal page in IE8 is "squashed together" but the text box area for posting works as it should. Could someone please take a look at the portal index page I linked above and let me know why it renders perfect in FF but not IE8??? Most of my members use IE8 from what I can gather and this issue is driving me nuts. Any help appreciated. Thanks!!!! I've tried using the IE developer tool to see what the issue may be but I can't seem to figure out why it is doing what its doing. Thanks again!! Hello, I'm working on an internal training CD where I'm going to have several Quicktime videos and I need to categorize them by Chapter & Movie Title, similar to: Chapter 1 - Bananas Movie 1 Movie 2 Movie 3 Chapter 2 - Grapes Movie 4 Movie 5 Movie 6 Etc..... The end user would click on "Movie #". It should be easy enough, but there are two things I need. One - for the Microsoft Active Control warning to go away (not appear) as this will be run locally, and Two - for the movie file to run outside of the browser, or at least for the browser to not show any toolbars or menu options as the movie fills most of the screen. Any way to do this in HTML - something that is easy for me to make the links. I'll have probably a hundred or so movies to each of the CDs I'm compiling, so that's a lot of manual linking. Thanks... Hi, I want to hide contents of html page when certain frame is loaed. By hide I mean when The frame get loaded at that time other HTML contents should be hidded with some semitransparent image & only loaded frame should be clickabel. All the other HTML content needs to be inactive. For example <html> <head> <script language=JavaScript> </script> </head> <frameset rows="40%,*"> <frame id="frame1" name="frame1" src="two.htm" /> <frame id="frame1" name="frame2" src="three.htm" /> <frame id="frame2" name="frame3" src="one.htm" onafterload="check()"/> </frameset> </html> when check function is called only frame3 should be visible & rest of the frames & their contents should be hidded with a semitransparent colour shade. & these contents should be unreachable by any means by user! Help me hi everybody, I am working in a html. I defined a functiion in a html file.(first.html) I want to call that function in another html file.(second.html) How can i call that function in second.html file? give some sample code Thanks in advance.... I'm a newbie and I need help with using the #include directive. below is a sample file usinging the #include directive: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled</title> </head> <body> <!-- #include file="test.html" --> </body> </html> Here is the contents of test.html: <h1>header</h1> When I display the test.html in my brower the text show up. When I run the main file above with the include statement the contents of the test file will not appear. I've tried using #include virtual and I get the same results. both files reside in the same directory. How can I get the above files to work. I'm working with windows XP on a home computer. This problem occured in my actual website files becasue I want to include a header and a footer. These files of course have table tags etc in them and I get the same results where the include files contents do appear. I need help asap if that is possible. Hi, I'm trying to include one HTML file in another. I tried iframe and was displeased with the results, I want the size of the frame to change dynamically and not just scroll. Fair warning, my knowledge of JavaScript is non-existent >_> . Basically, I have a document written in HTML (please don't suggest a wholesale re-write, that's simply not practical) and the idea is to have one file where it makes sense to include it several times. One thing to mention, this document is not meant to be shown on a web-server, but in a browser while you're reading it off your hard-drive. Here's what I have so far. main.shtml Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>test</title> </head> <body> <center> <h1> This is only a test! </h1> </center> <p> Still testing!!!!! </p> <!-- #include file="included.html" --> <p> Even more testing!!!!! </p> </body> </html> included.html Code: <!--<html> <head> <title> asdfasdfasdfasd </title> </head> <body>--> <p> <h4> foobar </h4> <br> <br> <br> <br> <h4> boofar </h4> </p> <!--</body> </html>--> Not sure what I'm doing wrong, help appreciated! I just put the final touches on the design of my site, livecapoeira.com but the homepage doesn't render quite how it does in a preview viewed locally on my machine. I'm using Dreamweaver if that helps, but could someone point out or explain why the background of the footer (where the about us/contact us) is floating at the top in the navigation bar? I've been staring at it but can't figure it out. Hi there, I am currently designing a website for an art gallery. I thought I had finished it today while viewing it in firefox on my mac, but when I went to view it on internet explorer on a PC the page is not rendered properly! i don't know what to do! I have 2 divs - centercol & rightcol - centercol displays the main content, and rightcol displays an image specific to the content on the page. on my mac it shows like this: on a PC in internet explorer it shows like this: website is at http://pennystewartdesigns.com/merrepen/html/main.html NB: Main page functions fine, but when you click on any other tabs the rightcol displays below the main content in IE. Its setup like this in template <ul> <li>[Navigation]</li> </ul> this outputs a set of about 10 links that look like this in the code ul> <li> link <br/> link <br/> link <br/> </li> </ul> It works but I need the code to look like this for it to function right. ul> <li> link </li> <li> link </li> <li> link </li> </ul> how do i code that using the [Navigation] Variable thanks a ton I am having a problem with IE7 rendering this page's last two select boxes. It renders fine in Firefox. It doesn't seem to like the height properties of the select boxes being set to percentages. I want to import my .txt file into the html form and the html form can add new item then to be add in to that particular .txt file too as well. can this be done? For example: (fruits.txt) 1.apple 2.banana 3.orange Can this fruit.txt be impoted to fruit.html page and show it at fruit.html page, at the same time, the fruit html page allow to add in new fruit, and once user add in new fruit, the fruit.txt file will be updated as well. Thanks for your guidiance and help. :-) hello, I'm new on this site. I am making a c# app with web surfing in mind. I asked on 3 c# forums about a question I have but I am not satisfied with their answers. So I came to you too. I want to be able to clean a page(get rid of some tags), that is loading in my webBrowser control, before is rendered inside it. i DON'T want to load it into a string, because if I do that, I must remake the page. I need something that can peek at some page, but not consume it, search for some specific tag, replace/delete it, then allow the "new" page to be finally loaded in my browser. How to achieve this, using html or javascrispt or whatever? I can't explain better than that. Thank you. I've been trying to get a design to work properly under Firefox for several days. Unfortunately because of ip issues I can't post any code. The basic problem is that I tell a table that I it to have height: 100% and it won't do it. Sometimes (not always) the table renders in such a way such that it is less than 100%. <table><tr><td><table class="gimme_some_height_already">...blah blah</table> Here's the annoying part. The problem is intermittent and goes away every time when I hit refresh under Firefox. Why should the page render differently just because I hit refresh? Also, when the table doesn't render properly, the links don't work. I have standard, nothing special <a> links inside the table. When the table is misrendered and I click on a link, instead of transferring to that page, the table just gets bigger! It's as if the table were in a very delicate state, and if someone touched or sneezed on it the whole page would move and rerender. Very strange. None of this happens under IE. I know that many people think that when IE and Firefox disagree that I ought to go with what Firefox says, but really hitting the refresh buttons shouldn't make the page look different. Does anyone know what is going on, and perhaps how I could go about fixing it? I've tried many variations, trial and error combinations and dirty tricks. My website doesn't render correctly in the WebKit browsers (Apple Safari and Google Chrome). It works as expected in Firefox, Internet Explorer versions 6 and above, and Opera. If you click here to view the site, it is the text on the left-hand side underneath the navigation menu that is proving problematic. This text is supposed to appear directly beneath the navigation menu, but when the site is viewed in Safari or Google Chrome, it appears at the very bottom of the page, where the blue background is. I have run the code through the W3C validator and after a bit of alteration, it came back saying there's no errors. What makes it confusing is that I didn't write the code myself and it is mainly table-based (I inherited it from a previous web developer). I am currently working on a brand new layout for the website which will solve the accessibility problem completely, but for the time being we have to continue using the current layout. Does anyone know if there's a quick fix which will get the text on the left-hand side to display correctly in WebKit browsers? This has been bugging me for a while now and I'd really like to get it fixed. Is there anything obvious that I've missed? Thanks in advance for any help. I have a website where I want to make a drop down menu that will bring you to different pages. It is a very basic, sort of old-fashioned website that relies entirely on html. What I'm trying to do is make a drop-down menu that will be used as navigation for a section of a website and I want to have it in each internally linked page in that section, but I'm going to be adding more pages to it over time so I want to be able to put the drop-down menu code in a separate text file and then substitute it into the pages that I make that the options in the menu link to and then just edit the code in the text file when I add another page so that I don't have to go back and edit the code every single individual page whenever I add a new one among them. Basically all I'm asking is how I can put html code in a text file and then substitute that code into an html page by referring to the file. Thanks in advance for any help. Hi guys I want to add some php files into my frontpage html files, please let me know how to do this. I tried many things but fail. Please guide me. Thank you GCS Hi all! I've got a very strange problem with a webpage: If you type http://www.varbanovsoft.com/ images are not correctly displayed but if you type http://www.varbanovsoft.com/index.html they appear!! Any idea? I'm completely lost ... Thanks!! T Hi all, I'm working on a project to make my job a little easier. A brief description is that I have to write up case notes and when I am finished with the notes I submit them. What I am looking for is a code so when I hit the submit button on the tool I created, it will create a log file and save my case notes to that log file. The tool that I created is html based and it's on my local computer. I would also like for it to create the log file on my local computer. Is this possible? A good example is like a messenger service like msn or yahoo IM. When you are done talking to someone it creates a log file of the conversation. Im looking for something like that but that creates a log when I hit the submit button. Any ideas? Best regards, Kris Tried to redirect a file using htaccess , heres the code i wrote. Redirect /phpbb http://www.techno-source.co.uk/joomla/ Redirect / http://www.techno-source.co.uk/joomla/ And saved it as .htaccess , ftp it to the root of my site. But now it wont redirect any idea what's up? I'd like to have a html file where i can pass over the variables from another html file i.e. title = "Image 01" Image = image.jpg description = "image 01 description test" then with a link open the html file with this variables. thanks. |
