HTML - 2 Different Navigation Menu's @ Wordpress
So Im on my way discovering Wordpress.
My html/css knowledge is more then reaching.. php is my problem. I want to know how to have one menu on the homepage. But another menu on the follow up pages. I want to convert this site, so have a look and press the first button on the right to see what I mean. My problem is that I dont know how to load that .css file / several .css files ? thanks for reading Similar Tutorialsi have this particular drop down menu in a wordpress PHP sidebar template, but i cant get it to execute once an option is selected. when i had this in another PHP page through a DW library item, it would execute just fine. here is the code... Code: <form name="guideform" id="guideform" action="#"> <select name="guidelinks" id="guidelinks" onChange="window.location=document.guideform.guidelinks.options[document.guideform.guidelinks.selectedIndex].value"> <option selected value="#">default</option> <option value="option 1 url">option 1</option> <option value="option 2 url">option 2</option> <option value="option 3 url">option 3</option> </select> </form> can someone tell me why this would work on one PHP page and not another? heres where i have the element in place on the page... http://flyerflies.com/blog also, another question...how can i adjust the width of the display pane once the menu is opened? in FF, it opens to show all of the contents, but in IE (surprise, surprise) it only opens to the same width as the default text display in the unopened drop down box. Hi, on my website I've made a navigation menu from a table. What I wanted to know was if there was an easier way of making changes to it without having to go to every page and editing the HTML. The website is located here ( www.robs550paracord.com ). I'd like to keep the look of the nav bar the same, w/o having to use flash. Thank You. Hi guys, www.ivoog.com - I am having a problem with IE 6 on the navigation menu. Open it up in IE 6 and mouseover the different buttons (scooters, miniscooters, bikes, atvs, accessories, etc). See how it kind of gets "messed up" when you mouseout? What is the problem? Is it a simple solution? Here's my CSS: http://www.pics.ivoog.com/top/navigation.css javascript: http://www.pics.ivoog.com/top/navi.js If it's a fairly simple solution what do I need to change? Thanks! http://www.ivoog.com/test1 The page is fully complete, feel free to give any suggestions/updates. However, the only problem I have found so far is that in Internet Explorer 6, the menu does not turn green onmouseover. Is there a simple fix for this? Thanks. How do I made a navigation menu, with expandable arrows? So basically its a vertical menu, with main headings one under the next, then if a main heading has sub headings, you would click the plus icon next to it, to expand it, and you could see the subheadings under it, and indented. Like how it looks in windows registry (regedit). Hi, Can anybody tell me how to code a sliding navigation bar? By sliding navigation menu i mean that when the user scrolls down the page, the navigation menu follows the screen down and vice versa. Below I have pasted my code for my navigation menu. Cheers, <div id"quicklinks"> <p id="quicklinks"> <img src="images/greekflag.jpg" alt="Greek Flag"><br> <br> <a href="index.html">Home</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/apartment.html">Apartment Details</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/kassiopi.html">Kassiopi</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/corfu.html">Corfu</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/corfutimeline.html">Corfu Timeline</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/gallery.html">Gallery</a><br> <br> <a href="pages/quiz.html">Corfu Quiz</a><br> <br> <u><b>External Links</b></u><br> <br> <a target="_blank"href="http://www.kassiopi.info">Kassiopi Experience</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kassiopi.org">Kassiopi</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.greeklandscapes.com/greece/corfu.html">Hydropolis Water<br> Park</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.agni.gr">Agni</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kassiopi-cosmic.com">Kassiopi-Cosmic</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.aqualand-corfu.com">Aqualand</a><br> <br> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.yannisrentacar.gr">Yannis Rentacar</a><br> <br> <img src="images/greekflag.jpg" alt="Greek Flag"> </div> </p> I'm trying to build a horizontal menu that has tabs. Basically it's a horizontal 5px line with the inactive links/tabs upside down hanging from the line, and the active page having the tab above the line. But I'm having a heck of a time getting the css to work on the one tab on top (contact link shown here). Anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this? You can see my css attempt below. Thanks!! Code: #menu { width: 490px; height: 20px; padding-left: 300px; padding-top: 72px; border-bottom: 5px solid #b8ac85; } #menu.down { width: 490px; height: 20px; padding-left: 300px; padding-top: 92px; border-bottom: 5px solid #b8ac85; } #menu ul { list-style: none; } #menu li { display: inline; } #menu.up ul { list-style: none; padding-top:40px; } #menu.up li { display: inline; padding-top:-40px; } #menu a { float: left; width: 84px; height: 20px; display: block; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; color: #663300; font-weight: normal; font-size: 12px; text-transform: uppercase; padding-top: 5px; background: url(images/button_down.gif) no-repeat; } #menu a:hover { width: 84px; height: 20px; padding-top: 5px; color: #FFffff; text-decoration: underline; } #menu a.up:link { float: left; width: 84px; height: 20px; display: block; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; color: #663300; font-weight: normal; font-size: 12px; text-transform: uppercase; padding-top: 5px; background: url(images/button_up.gif) no-repeat; } #menu a.up:hover { width: 84px; height: 20px; padding-top: 5px; color: #FFffff; text-decoration: underline; } Does anyone know how to create this in Dreamweaver? I'm mostly interested in how the navigation bar jpg has sort of an image map idea to it (even though it's not an image map). This is how the navigation bar looks in your html browsers: This is how it looks without any CSS coding: This is how the navigation bar's jpg looks alone: (different states for how the navigation "button" will look when hovered over, clicked, etc) Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm very new to HTML/CSS/Javascript. In the website I'm trying to build, I want to display a relatively simple navigation menu on the left side of the webpage, similar in look to the one here (example): http://build-website.com/design/opportunity.html Is there some way to put the initialization text for the navigation menu in a separate .html file (or, just some other file), so that every time I want to add a section/link to the nav menu, I won't have to go through each of my web pages individually and add the code for the link? (I am not going to use frames because, among other things, that would make it more difficult to bookmark and copy addresses of individual pages) I have been teaching myself through the w3schools tutorials, but despite looking through them and googling for answers I haven't been able to find a solution. Is this possible in HTML? Something that would allow something like like <div src="navmenu.html"> would be ideal but I haven't been able to find anything. (At the moment I'm just using notepad and typing in code manually) hey everyone not sure where this best goes but ill put it here i have been messing around with wordpress to see if i like it and how it works and such. I've ran into a problem and i cant seem to find an answer. When i write a post or page, and i want to add my own code, it ends up messing it up pretty bad. I go to write page and select the code view, then i put in sum code such as Code: <div class="title">Links</div> <div id="linksbox"> <ul id="linklist"> <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/test.jpg" alt="html" /> <div class="text"><h3>header</h3><p>this is some text that is a paragraph</p></div> </a> </li> <li><a href="#">Item two</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item three</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item four</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item five</a></li> </ul> </div> and when i view the page and view the source the code was outputted as this: and doesn't even work right: Code: <div class="title">Links</div> <div id="linksbox"> <ul id="linklist"> <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/test.jpg" alt="html" /></p> <div class="text"> <h3>header</h3> <p>this is some text that is a paragraph</p> </div> <p> </a> </li> <li><a href="#">Item two</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item three</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item four</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item five</a></li> </ul> </div> then i go back to edit the post and it looks like this Code: <p class="title">Links</p> <p id="linksbox"> <ul id="linklist"> <li> <a href="#"><img src="images/test.jpg" alt="html" /></a> <p class="text"> <h3><a href="#">header</a></h3> <a href="#">this is some text that is a paragraph</a> <a href="#"> </a></li> <li><a href="#">Item two</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item three</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item four</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item five</a></li> </ul> anyone know why this happens, or how to make it so it don't do that? I am using wordpress. This is my layout http://ruriko.newsit.es/. Why is there a "dir="ltr">" ontop of the header? my footer isn't looking right it has 2 background colours and I only want the light blue one I have a WP blog with Elements of Style template. I'm looking ot put information on the bottom of each content area I create. I am at a loss to figure out which of the files to edit. [IMG]editwordpress.jpg[/IMG] Hello, i'm setting up a website on Wordpress and I want the following: 1. A static (non blog) contact page just like this http://i25.tinypic.com/29lmyo3.jpg 2. I want my blog postings to be archived in pages just like this: http://i30.tinypic.com/3004epj.jpg as opposed to scrolling down the whole page to see my posts. Is this a default feature in Wordpress or do I have to do something to make this happen to my posts? 3. My template only has one column, I would like to split it into two columns (http://i30.tinypic.com/3004epj.jpg) like this site, so I can have a place to put adverts etc. Thank you I am using the lated release of WordPress and I am using WP-Forum to enable a forum on my site. I changed many of the images and some of the css that was on a default theme to make my own but I cannot figure out one thing. When you click new post and the text box shows up with subject and message the message box is cols="80" and I wan it to be cols="75" so it does not go over into the sidebar. My website is www.ipodtouchcafe.com. Below is the code I got from firebug: <textarea name="message" cols="80" rows="20"/> That is the text box for the message and the Bold, Italic, Underlined part is the cols section. Feel free to go to my website and register so you can see what I am talking about. THANKS! I need help customizing my wordpress feed thats on my back garageglamorousgaga.freehostia.com also making it so that its only one of each post, and that it's all english ahaha! hi, what's the best cms, wordpress or Jomla ? I really like the backup plugins in Joomla, I dunno if it exists something similar in wordpress. The wordpress backend seems to be more professional... thanks Hey! I've recently transfered my blog over to wordpress.org (from wordpress.com) and now have the ability to alter my template, but i need some help with a few things! The current widgets i have up i believe came across with the back up copy of my original blog, but they aren't mentioned within 'widgets' in my dashboard. I added a mailing list and I'm wanting it to appear under the search bar, i presume to do this i will need to alter the code, but i can't find where to edit the code as i added the mailing list box as a widget, and it hasn't seemed to appear within the code where all the other current widgets i have are displayed. Does anyone know how i can move the mailing list up higher?? Also, I'm wanting to create a 'home' page which directs back to the home page of my blog. I had this set-up on my previous blog where i set the title to the url. But i removed it as with the new template it directed to a new page, called home. I'm wondering if someone knows how i can set up a page that directs to the home page of my blog? And also, if it's possible to place the page at the front of my other pages. Ie. "Home : About : Recommended Reading". And not "About : Recommended Reading : Home". ? And one last thing! I'm wanting to add a Google search tool to the current search bar that's on my blog. I would like it to look the same, if thats possible(?) but have the option of searching my blog, or the web along with a small Google banner at the bottom. I'm unsure where i should add this code, as within the theme editor i have a section titled "search results" which is a fairly long php code, and i also have a small section within the "sidebar" section which says: <!-- Search --> <div id="sidebar-search"> <form method="get" id="searchform" action="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/"> <input type="text" value="<?php the_search_query(); ?>" name="s" id="s" /> <input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="" /> </form> </div> <!-- /Search --> Should i add the Google html code to that part? Or will i need to change the php code as well for it to work? Appreciate any help! www.nikkisblogspot.com I would like to know if anyone knows how to integrate a Wordpress blog into your html website? Would I have to make a template from scratch just for Wordpress or is their a simple way of doing this? I like my sites design and would love to keep it that way. Please let me know. Thank you very much. Jenna Hi, My website is really acting strange. I've altered my header.php page to display a custom banner I made for the front page instead of "Site Title" (div class = "head-title") which was what it was set to. I thought I was good to go until I click the other pages. For some reason the banner magically disappears on the rest of the pages. The main index.php and page.php templates both have <?php get_header(); ?> at the top of each. So the code looks identical when I view page source for the other pages. I'm stumped as to why the header isn't showing throughout the site. Please help if you can. URL: http://www.princesscutdiamond.org. Thanks, gord Hi folks, I'm trying to achieve something in a wordpress widget, but no good result so far. Please have a look at the image. My problem is that I cant separate text from the image on the right side. Cant give the space between "vivamus lectus" and the "venenatis tempus..." And cant separate social icons on bottom without using a table. I'm coding it with normal html, no css. Can you please help me out? thanks |
