Similar TutorialsHi, Does anyone know how to link a local file and open up in your browser? I have tried <a href="file:///C:\TestFolder\test.xml" target="_blank">TEST FILE</a> But it doesn't work . Can anyone help me with this? Thanks , Geek.Shrek I'm currently trying to make a website that uses paypal. Here's what I have so far. 1 - User Clicks "buy now" button 2- User is redirected to paypal 3-User completes payment 4- User is SUPPOSED to be redirected to my site. Since I am hoping to test this page offline, I have my site in a local file. I need to use the return command on the "buy now" button so that paypal returns the user to my site, however, since I am just testing (using paypal's sandbox) I want it to return me to a local file on my hard drive. Apparently Firefox has a security feature that will not allow you to link to local files, but I was hoping to bypass this feature. Is there anyway I can do this? I have firefox 2.0. Thanks! I need to attach a link to another page, but this opens up in the current page, how do i open up another new window....? <a href="V:\INFORMATION\\Access to Reporting Services_demo.htm">Show me how!</a> Hi all I'm not exactly super profficient with HTML but I kinda know what I'm doing. I'm making a html document for the place that i work which stors quite large video files ona server (in the order of 1.5 to 2gig). I have the HTML document on another server, however. Basicaly what i want to do (and this is a very simplified version of my goal but its where the problem lies) is to have links from that HTML to the video files on the video server. So you click the link and it asks you if you want to save it or open it etc.. So this seems fairly simple... i've just got a <a href="\\videoservername\vod$\video_library\example.mpg">Click Here</a> which works but INCREDIBLY SLOWLY. I mean i knew it would take 5 minutes to copy the videos across... which it does if i link to the directory of the video rather than the video itself. So thats all good. But when its linked directly to the video file it takes a good 15 minutes between the 'Save or open' box and the 'where do you want to save' box. Once it does come up it saves in about 5 minutes like expected. I just dont get why it takes so long for the 'where would you like to save' to come up. If anyone knows a way around this or could even exaplain why its like this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Adam Hello all! I need some help to make a link on my webpage which can open a Youtube-video in a new empty window. Youtube.com offers to types of linking the video-code: a) a regular URL-link for opening the video in a regular youtube-page (with all menus and ads) Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i_VvpQbYj4 b) an embed-code which will show the video anywhere you want on your webpage. Example: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_i_VvpQbYj4"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_i_VvpQbYj4" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> So I guess we have to combine these two methods for solving the problem? Perhaps I can make an empty html-page called "\videopage.html", and then make a link-code which opens the videopage.html showing the video embedded? Like this: 1. Make a file called "\videopage.html" 2. Make a link on my webpage with the unknown code. 3. When a user clicking on my video-link, it opens the page called "\videopage.html" and plays the video. 4. I have many videos linking from youtube, so I think I have to re-use the page called "\videopage.html" many times. 5. This means the "\videopage.html" needs to be empty all the time, and just be 'called on' by the code. Can anyone help me? I hope a clever HTML-coder can make this work... Anyone with ideas? Best regards, Stereoid When I use this code in Google it works fine: Quote: <form name="f" action="http://www.google.com/search" method="get" name="fo" target="_self"> <input name="q" type="checkbox" style="width: 20px" value="avi|mpg|mpeg|wmv|rmvb|asf|divx|xvid"> <span class="style17"><strong>Ficheiros avi</strong></span></td> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tbody> <tr valign="top"> <td width="25%"> </td> <td nowrap="nowrap" align="middle"> <input name="q" type="text" id="q" /> <input style="WIDTH: 75px" type="submit" value="Procurar" /> </tr> </tbody> </table> </form> But when I use this same code on blogsearch.google.com it does not deliver the word I'm searching. Any ideas? Thank you, Rui Nunes Hey guys! I've just realized my first site html5 and all it was ok about indeed the on-line publishing on my server. Mark I have a thumb drive that have portable apps on it. I am trying to make a help file in html for each one. The problem I am running into is that i can't seem to make it load pictures. Code: File structure F:\PortableApps\7-Zip\ (Where the help file is) F:\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\Graphics\HelpFiles\ (Where the pics are at) What code do i need to make this work? Code: background-image: url(..\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\Graphics\HelpFiles\help_background_header.png); Thanks! In the following code, the image display is inconcsistent: - Firefox: works in all cases - IE7 over Internet: works - IE7 locally: image does not display; I get a placeholder. - IE7 locally on my other computer: works. By "locally", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on my local hard disk; by "Internet", I mean that the HTML file and the image are on the server at my web site service. The image is in the same directory as the HTML file in all cases. Here's the code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN"> <html> <head> <title>My Page</title> </head> <body> <p>Welcome to My Page</p> <img height="231" width="346" border="0" src="roadtrip003.gif"> </body> </html> I suspect an IE7 setting on the offending computer, but I've looked around quite a bit and it ain't obvious to me.
