HTML - Why Does My Page Change Format?
I'm very new. I've created a page with some help.
My page is very simple but it works alright. But it's got some little problems. Like it starts out laid out in one format but after a click on the submit button it adopts a different format. Because, I guess, of the new data written to the screen. But I'd like that not to happen But don't know how to fix it. And secondly I've used tables to lay out the page and I've read that tables are deprecated for this purpose. Well, I'd like to move with the times and do it some other way: divs are the way, I think, but a google around about how to do that seemed to indicate you've got to get into some pretty tedious and involved calculations of your box starting and end points, margiins, widths and god knows what...... Is that really the way to go... or are tables good enough? Or is there some other way? The page can be seen at greenpepper.org Similar TutorialsI have a donations form http://www.roycastle.org/tributes/tribute_input.htm, which anyone can fill in. Would like the date format to change autmatically when the country field is applied. For example country = United States date format =08/15/2007 Greetings all, I have a little problem with the layout of this page: http://www.tohokingdom.com/dvd/test12.htm It looks fine in Firefox, but stretches horribly in IE whenever viewed through a 800x600 resolution. The problem IE seems to be having with it is the 100% width figure that was placed in the first row, with "DVD Title". The issue is that if the 100% width figure is taken out, a grey area (from the background) will emerge where the cover is to the right of it. I really can't figure out a solution for this either, can anyone offer any advice to stop the page from stretching in IE yet avoid the column width around the image from expanding past the image? Thanks in advance. Below are the two sites I will use to explain my problem. For reference, I used Mozilla Firefox 3.08 and Google Chrome 1.0.154.53 in my tests. Example 1: http://www.irishbyname.com/example1.htm Example 2: http://www.irishbyname.com/example2.htm When browsing the site in a browser other than Internet Explorer, example 1 and example 2 center to different locations on the page. In example 1, I set the height of the content area to be 200 px tall. In example 2, I set the height of the content area to be 500 px tall. When I have example 1 open in one tab and example 2 open in another, I can alternate between the two tabs and see a visual difference in alignment. The HTML code on both pages is exactly identical with the exception of the height of the content area. Can anyone tell me why the horizontal page center changes based on the height of the page? Can anyone tell me how to change my HTML to make certain the page centers correctly no matter how tall the page is? Thanks for your help in advance. How do I change the font type for a whole page? I have a page (refer.php) that has a form with two fields and a link at the bottom that leads to the (refer.php?extra=TRUE) which is the same page but with ten fields instead of two. How do I make it so that when the link is clicked, it doesn't reload the page but instead just adds the additional fields? This would keep any information already placed in the two fields, which is what I really want. Thanks. Hello, I have a question: My site can only be viewed good in FireFox, not in Internet Explorer. I have found a script now which allows me to, if the page is viewed in FF, it goes to another page, while that same page stays in IE. This is the script: HTML Code: <script type="text/javascript"> if (navigator.userAgent.indexOf("MSIE")==-1) window.location="IE.html"; </script> Between the <head> and </head> tags However, as said, this will change pages when opened in FireFox. Now i want to change this script so that it only change pages when opened in Internet Explorer. Can anyone help me with that? Thanks, Kruimel Hi all : I want my web site to seem in full page in all browsers . But it is in fixed size and it only seems in the middle of pages . Ex . Please see my site . www.coderelector.com . As you see the template is in the middle but I want my page to be like www.getafreelancer.com . Full screen .... how can i keep my pages from squeezing together on an 800 x 600 screen resolution? - bargainzebra.com Ok i'm very new so please be as specific as possible in answering! Thanks! I'm making a site with music reviews, so i want and easy way to cataloge the artists. I have seen on other sites where they will have the letters of the alpabet in a row at the top. Then when you roll the mouse over each letter the bands beginning with that letter appear on the same page. No links, but the page changes when the mouse rolls over another letter and so on. I hope i made that as clear as possible. Thanks, and again be as basic as possible! Hi guys, Okay I know my source code is a bit of a mess - but I wondered if anybody is able to tell me why the cell which has the text: Quote: STAYUPDATED: News will appear here soon. in it, varies in size from page to page. e.g. http://www.bigbrotherwebsite.net/ind...page=nomsevics to http://www.bigbrotherwebsite.net/ind...tingunexpected and http://www.bigbrotherwebsite.net/ind...knowledgements - ideally I'd like the cell to remain the same size as the one on the last page... (Acknowledgements) Any ideas gang? It's puzzled me! - Joe I'm brand new to the scene of html and tryiing to create a website. I'm currently using a drop-and-drag program that does allow for some html and other scripting to help modify the page. The problem I'm having is this. When the webpage I created with a margin of 1024 x 768 appears on my monitor (1440x900) as well the monitor of a few other people I have asked, it appears fine. When I change my monitor resolution to 1024 x 768 to view the webpage, I have to scroll over to the middle of the page to begin viewing. How do I fix this so that the page is centered regardless of the monitor resolution of whomever is viewing the page? Once again, I am a beginner with the world of html so I will do my best to try to understand whatever it is that I need to input into the html to try to fix the problem. Thank you. hi i am in a great difficulty i am developing a web site for some event but i want to something different so i want to give a complete different look to my web site on each opening so please any html/css expert please tell em how can i do this if this i s possible with any other language then tell me that name or any code for example i am waiting with hope..... -Pc(INDIA) hi i am in a great difficulty i am developing a web site for some event but i want to something different so i want to give a complete different look to my web site on each opening so please any html/css expert please tell em how can i do this if this i s possible with any other language then tell me that name or any code for example i am waiting with hope..... -Pc(INDIA) Hey guys, I'm trying to use submit buttons to display different websites in an iframe (or maybe I could use css?) What I'm basically trying to do is display different SQL databases when you click different buttons. So the code in the website in the iframe will just display the database. Thanks I've seen it done, but probably not in html. Every time the page is reloaded, the background colour within certain areas of the page will change to one of a series of pre-set colours. Usually this is all background divs or table cells that have been earmarked for this colour change, but how on earth do you set that up in html? Any ideas? Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me? I wish to produce a website which works in the following way: The header and footer remain the same, and do not reload on page refresh. Then, links on a menu bar stimulate loading a new page, however only the content below the header changes. An example of this, is the CushyCMS website (http://www.cushycms.com). When you click the menu links, the header doesn't reload, only the page content does. How would I do this? My reason for wanting this method, is because I wish to have an image slider present within the header of all of my pages, and I don't wish to have to update every page each time I wish to add an image. Please help? Many thanks, Luke I have several websites that I maintain and update. A lot of them are just textual changes and I would think my customers can do these themselves by editing a simple .txt file. I was hoping my choices are avalable so that I can just insert this tag into my web pages and then give them login info to their edit page or show them how to upload the .txt file. I hope this is an easy one with several answers. Is it possible these tags could discipline your rankings in the search engines? Thanks, Jason hi; i want to create something like this http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx need to do exactly as in this site how can i do that.... ; any script (when mouse is over needs to change the iframe....)
