HTML - Can I Use Filezilla To Open, Edit And Save The Index.html File?
Ok still super new at this HTML thing, but I am going to be using Filezilla to access my friends index.html file for a little eding of the text.
My question is can I open the file, edit what I need and save it all within filezilla? Or do I need to drag the index.html file to my desktop, edit, save and the drag it back to filezilla? Similar TutorialsI have a pdf file that is the catalog for my business. Is there a way to make it so that i can create a link that says "view" and if people click on it, then the standard "FILE DOWNLOAD" box does not come up... and it just opens the file in a separate window.... and have a "download" link where if they click that... then it just downloads the file. I know that i am weird... but i think it would be something that not everybody has... and something that would be kinda cool. Thanks in advance.... Mark Is there a way to have a link bring up a 'Save as...' box by default rather than having the link open the file inside my visitors' browser. More specifically, I have a long lecture on my site (mp3) that by default opens in my visitors' browsers rather than offering to be downloaded. I know visitors can right-click on the link to get a 'Save as...' box, but I would rather 'Save as...' be the default action whenever the link is clicked. Hello, I've some html files i will write to a cd to enable local browsing of the files. How can i force autohtml.exe to open index.html in Internet Explorer exclusively- not in other browsers? I think only such would allow photos to be viewed in an explorer window- as in viewing the file "X:/stuff/Gallery" in explorer - as opposed to in a browser window which provides only a view of each picture per click and not the whole photo gallery with more navigation flexibility etc. Ive tried opening in Firefox and Chrome but they dont allow (convenient)opening of local folders for security reasons. Any prompt help will be much appreciated:D Stef Hi, This will sound such a rookie question simply because I've never done this. Ok, I've created a page for a friend entirely within Fireworks. I have sliced the page and exported it in HTML to Dreamwaver. Now I do this a lot with ebay listings, and I simply upload the slices to a free online hosting company, they then give me the image location and I paste that into the slices src and job done, one pretty listing. Now, I'm trying to use Filezilla to upload the slices of the page in question to their host, which I'm doing easy enough. However, Filezilla doesn't let me see the location of the image, so I've no idea what to paste into the src! It has been stressing me to the max the past 24hrs as its all I need to get the site online! Thanks in advance for any help offered. Hello all, I am new to html. I'm thinking it isn't but I need to make sure. I'd like to provide a file for people to download on my website, but when they click on the link and the download window appears I don't want them to have the option of opening it. Is it possible to only give them the option to save the file? Sounds incredibly unlikely but I gotta know. Hello there, I have a html page that has links to files on it,, when a user clicks on a file it comes up asking for them to save, open or cancel. is it at all possible to add code to this line <a href="ChainELinkClient\dotnetfx.exe" class="1">Install .NET Framework 1.1</a> to make it so it will automatically open,, instead of asking for those options? Hi Friends, Can anyone guide me that How to open html tutorial.pdf file ? Please help me ASAP. Regards, Tom Hi, Does anyone know how to link a local file and open up in your browser? I have tried <a href="file:///C:\TestFolder\test.xml" target="_blank">TEST FILE</a> But it doesn't work . Can anyone help me with this? Thanks , Geek.Shrek Hello Everyone, Can someone guide me how can I open a word doc or text file from a html page. I already changed the following setting for doc files in my system: In Explorer - Click Tools --> Folder Options Click on File Types Goto any office extension (XLS, DOC, PPT,...) and uncheck Browse in Same Window. Here is my html file <html> <body> Hello <a href="c:\\myword.doc" target="_self">Link</a> </body> </html> The preferable way would be to govern it through coding, rather doing some manual settings in browser. Thanks. Hi! I have a problem with select elements ... on every browser without exception... I have form elements that have tooltip assigned to them... and if I go to a select element and open it so it's options are visible, leave it opened and then hover on another form element to make it's tooltip to appear ... and surprize the tooltipdiv apears under the opened options ... The strange thing is that the select element is hidden under the tooltip div, only it's options are over the tooltip. Does anyone have a suggestion? I finally figured out how to add text to my index and now I have another question. In my website template There is Heading 1 and a Heading 2 so my question is how do I delete any sections or headings that I don't need to make it go away on my home page. There is so much and I don't think I need all of it..... Thanks in advance Hi everyone. I have some links to excel spreadsheets on a website I run. Is there a way I can "Grey Out" the "Open" option when the links are clicked, therefore only giving the user the option to save the file? Hello, I know a little bit about creating websites and how to use the programs that create them. And knowing this, is why I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. A friend of mine, gave me a website template with all its files. If I open firefox or any browser and goto open file, then select the .html file, it will load it just fine and it looks great. In the folder of the template are the following files: xzy1.fla xzy1.fla.jsfl xzy1.swf xzy1.html xzy1-b.jpg xzy1-h.jpg And that's it, nothing else is in the folder. As for how I use to create or edit other website templates, I would goto the folder of the template, and in it would be the following files: abc2.fla abc2.swf abc2_about.html abc2_index.html abc2_about.psd abc2_index.psd And there is also a 'image' folder with a lot of images. Normally to edit this template I would use the .psd file and either Adobe Photoshop and/or ImageReady to make my adjustments. Can someone please take the time to explain what other files I could use to make the adjustments. Because as I explained, the only way I thought you could edit a template was to use the .psd file. Thanks again for your time, Jason S I'm currently helping someone maintain a pretty simple website, mainly text. And they would like to update their site relatively often, but I don't have the time and they don't have the knowledge of updating the page. So I was wondering if I could just embed the text into the html file using a .shtml file (ex <!--#include file="maintext.shtml" -->) and create a form on a seperate, password protected page that would have a simple textarea and submit button that would allow them to edit the text in the .shtml file and press submit, therefore editing the text in the .shtml file? Is this possible? Hi everyone, I need to know whether we can select a file using save button?? and also i need to scrape the details in the file to a variable.. IS this possible... Plz help me.. really I'm stuck in this.... hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post. my company has existing websites, and I come to fix the errors.(I don't know the status about those website on Cpanel) After I did some change on File Manager, but the web site stay the same no matter how I do the code ( even delete all codes).... anyone know why that happen? Do I need to refresh or something? Any things I need to check on Cpanel for the settings??? thanks guys!! Hello, I just started working at a company and they have a website that was partially completed by someone else and have hired me to complete and make changes to it. It seems that most of the website was created in Wordpress, but some of it seems to be done by hand-coding. The website is at http://www.executivetravellink.com/ I was able to get the company's FTP information which shows me all of the files that are on the site and I can easily transfer over locally to work in say Dreamweaver for example. They want me to make some changes to the navigation bar up top where it has links to the Hotels, Flights, Cruises, etc. From looking at the code in the index.php file, which leads to other files, I wasn't able to figure out which file to open in order to make those changes. I'm not sure if this is possible, but from looking at the source code, would someone be able to know the answer to that? Any information that someone could give me would be certainly much appreciated. Thank You! I'm developing a small client / server application in HTML. It has a webserver which is hosting a page (login.html) the pages takes in login and password and lets you login into a console. The client just need a network access to reach the webserver. However, for audits / database i want to save the text entered into the username/password field into a file on my server machine. What i need to do? Is there a client side script that i need to write to do this or i could do it with HTML alone. Thank you |
