HTML - Ie6 Makes Paragraph Space Bigger
Hi
I noticed that ie6 renders paragraph breakline spaces bigger than ie7 or FF. I got around it by using <br /><br /> instead of <p></p>, but is there a proper workaround to make ie6 conform? Also also tried stipulating the CSS for the p tags, but to no avail: .maintext { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 9pt; color:#fff; text-align:justify; line-height:100%; } .maintext p { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 9pt; color:#fff; text-align:justify; line-height:100%; } Cheers Shaun Similar TutorialsHi everyone, not sure if this is possible but I would like to have a page that has two textboxes - "1: Input" and "2: Output" So if you copy a few paragraphs from MSWord into that first input box, then click a button that says "Convert", the second Output box shows up with the same text only with a full line break in between paragraphs (not put html tags like <BR> in it) My reasoning is that in word, you can distinguish between paragraphs because of tabbing, but when you copy/paste it into a forum post, it just mushes together and becomes very difficult to read, making line breaks the best way to separate. Example: Input: Code: Once upon a time blah blah blah. The next day thirty people died. It was sad. Output: Code: Once upon a time blah blah blah. The next day thirty people died. It was sad. Thank you! This is a silly question but i need rows to appear in this code Code: <input id="link_l" size=73> I am trying to build a simple contact form using tables, textfields, lables and textareas. The textfields are ok in both IE and FF but the textarea is bigger in IE than in FF and also the textareas in both are stil out of position to the textfields. This is pretty basic i guess, maybe not. I realise there are differences in formatting in IE and firefox but. So if i.... 1) Insert a form tag 2) Insert a table 3 rows x 2 cols in the form tag (name, email and message) 4) Add a lable in the DW designer to attach to each text field/area then the result looks like this in FF, and this in IE, also i just noticed that the font is a slightly different size and font in both as well, here is my code, this is all the code i am using, HTML Code: <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <table width="39%" border="0"> <tr> <td width="20%"><label for="email">Email:</label></td> <td width="80%"><input name="email" type="text" id="email" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="name">Name:</label></td> <td><input name="name" type="text" id="name" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><label for="message">Message:</label></td> <td><textarea name="message" id="message"></textarea></td> </tr> </table> </form> any ideas??? Also i realise you can change the size of the textarea but i don't really see the relationship here with respect to the size of the textfield. See the below HTML: <table width="100%" > <tr><td align="left" style="background:blue"> <form name="rrrevsortform" method="post" valign="center"> <select name="RRSort" onchange="Redirect(this.value);"> <option value="http://something" selected="true">one choice</option><option value="http://sdfsd">sfd first</option> </select> <input type="submit" id="sortSubmit" value="Go"> </form> </td> </tr> </table> If you save this as .html and view you will find that TD height(blue color) is double the height of form? why so? how can I contract TD to take the height of form. Surprisingly even the height attribute does not work! Hi Here is my site; http://www.freewebs.com/jonnibravo/ The icons at the top of the screen are very small, all I want is to make the images bigger when you hover the mouse over them and to have text show below showing what team the icon belongs too. I have tried to find something on the web that shows how to do it but I dont know how to implement the code. The code I am using is below. But I want to position a flash object file in a div to the the center of my screen. However heres the catch, my flash file is 1900 pixels wide, and of course a screen can be anything wide. I can get CSS background images for divs ok, but not objects like a flash movies. So assuming my screen is 1600 wide, the user would see the center of my 1900 wide flash file with 150 pixels missing on the left aand right. For some reason, maybe i am tired, but i can not get it working or get my head into gear today. thanks for any input! Oh and heres an image of my problem to help explain it http://i44.tinypic.com/33p9e0l.jpg why the table i have dont expand over browser borders when sum of td widths is bigger than screen width? How can i overcome this problem? I want to use HTML to make the following task... I little link, when someone clicks on it, it displays an image at the top of it (Not load a whole new page with an image) Example Say you have this link linky I want when people click on it, it displays an image above it Can this be done using HTML? Thanks Hi, adding rows with the clear:both; attribute causes a huge slow-down and I need an alternative or a solution. I'm composing a friend's resume in html. I'm using nested divs to create a two column format. Each row is a div block that contains two smaller divs--one for each column. Each row uses the attribute clear:both; so that the next row will form cleanly beneath it. I am getting the desired format, but as I add more and more rows, the web browser becomes dramatically slower. 20 rows will make the page un-loadable and the browser crashes. Am I doing something wrong or is there another way to do this? Hi, I have a site that goes over about 3 pages in length and in the IE the page is longer than in firefox. This is really annoying when you have next to the page a sidebar that is supposed to have the same length as the page but in the IE the sidebar does not reach the end of the page (because the page is longer due to larger spacing). To me it seems that IE makes more spaces between the text lines like h1, h2, p, etc. Is this a common problem and is there any solution to this? hello.. so i want to make a website that has the same features as THIS ONE where you have to click on all the links that are on there before entering the site. if click ENTER it wont let you continue unless you have clicked on all the ADD images. thats the only example i found. how do you do that??? thank you for your help! Hello guys . As everybody knows , <DIV> and <P> are really necessary elements in web pages . Bye the way , I wanna have a limited paragraph . Imagine , I have paragraph ( 300 X 400) . I wanna limit text to this paragraph . I mean , when I put a lot of words and characters in this paragraph , the text goes to next line automatically . Like this forum . When you put your text here , If it's a long text , it'll be separate to several lines and doesn't take one long line . for example , please check me personal web site . first post of this site has taken a long line and destroyed everything . I put it the text in limited paragraph , div , table and etc but it didn't work and again shattered boarders and didn't attention to size of elements ( width and height ) . http://ehsanrajabi.ir Problem Solved, Thanks everyone Hello everyone I have run into a roadblock. I am trying to make a background image scale properly with Internet Explorer. I have successfully made the image fit the web browser right, using this code in a CSS class. The code I am using is as written: PHP Code: body.background { filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='../../Images/Website Background-3.jpg', sizingMethod='scale'); -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='../../Images/Website Background-3.jpg', sizingMethod='scale')"; } this code makes the background I am using work correctly in Internet Explorer. However, when I use this code, it makes the rest of the website stop working. I can no longer click on any of the links on the page, or anything of the sort. However, all my styles for the links still remain on the page. Any suggestions? Thank you all, Mitch Guzman Hi, is there anyway to make a sup on a paragraph? if so, could you tell me how, please? I made some slices in photoshop to manage the links from Front Page but the links look like this.Check the photo... any one knows what shall i do ? Hello everyone, I am new here and I am have a very odd problem with one of my paragraph tags. It is placed at the bottom of the main content just before the footer. Yet it thinks it encompasses all of the content in the main content div. When I use css to make the font bigger, only the paragraph changes font size. None of the other text, such as links, changes font size. That's what's supposed to happen. But when I add a top margin to the paragraph to try to move it down, all of the content in the main content div moves down. I am thoroughly confused. Can somebody help me understand why this is happening? |
