HTML - Could Not Edit Website With Cpanel File Manager
hey guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post.
my company has existing websites, and I come to fix the errors.(I don't know the status about those website on Cpanel) After I did some change on File Manager, but the web site stay the same no matter how I do the code ( even delete all codes).... anyone know why that happen? Do I need to refresh or something? Any things I need to check on Cpanel for the settings??? thanks guys!! Similar Tutorialshi guys, I am a beginner of HTML programming. Hello, I know a little bit about creating websites and how to use the programs that create them. And knowing this, is why I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. A friend of mine, gave me a website template with all its files. If I open firefox or any browser and goto open file, then select the .html file, it will load it just fine and it looks great. In the folder of the template are the following files: xzy1.fla xzy1.fla.jsfl xzy1.swf xzy1.html xzy1-b.jpg xzy1-h.jpg And that's it, nothing else is in the folder. As for how I use to create or edit other website templates, I would goto the folder of the template, and in it would be the following files: abc2.fla abc2.swf abc2_about.html abc2_index.html abc2_about.psd abc2_index.psd And there is also a 'image' folder with a lot of images. Normally to edit this template I would use the .psd file and either Adobe Photoshop and/or ImageReady to make my adjustments. Can someone please take the time to explain what other files I could use to make the adjustments. Because as I explained, the only way I thought you could edit a template was to use the .psd file. And they would like to update their site relatively often, but I don't have the time and they don't have the knowledge of updating the page. So I was wondering if I could just embed the text into the html file using a .shtml file (ex <!--#include file="maintext.shtml" -->) and create a form on a seperate, password protected page that would have a simple textarea and submit button that would allow them to edit the text in the .shtml file and press submit, therefore editing the text in the .shtml file? Is this possible? Hello, I just started working at a company and they have a website that was partially completed by someone else and have hired me to complete and make changes to it. It seems that most of the website was created in Wordpress, but some of it seems to be done by hand-coding. The website is at http://www.executivetravellink.com/ I was able to get the company's FTP information which shows me all of the files that are on the site and I can easily transfer over locally to work in say Dreamweaver for example. They want me to make some changes to the navigation bar up top where it has links to the Hotels, Flights, Cruises, etc. From looking at the code in the index.php file, which leads to other files, I wasn't able to figure out which file to open in order to make those changes. I'm not sure if this is possible, but from looking at the source code, would someone be able to know the answer to that? Any information that someone could give me would be certainly much appreciated. Thank You! Ok still super new at this HTML thing, but I am going to be using Filezilla to access my friends index.html file for a little eding of the text. My question is can I open the file, edit what I need and save it all within filezilla? Or do I need to drag the index.html file to my desktop, edit, save and the drag it back to filezilla? ok im messing around with cpanel (just got hosting from inmotionhosting.com) and i downloaded a layout and im uploading the index.html, images, and the css file to cpanel but when i go to view the page, the pictures dont show. what am i doing wrong? Now then... I host with Aventure who use cPanel. I have created a passworded directory and have a number of users set up with usernames and passwords.. which is all very nice, but I can not find a way of adding Username and Password fields to a web page as oposed to clicking on a link which then brings up a seperate box to fill in (see www.strictly-smokin.co.uk). I am creating a website, www.realhelp.am, and there are 3 languages, armenian, russian and english. In website, when I am opening it, everything is ok, but when i go to cpanel, and want to edit code, there aren't showing russian and armenian texts. Instead normal text,there are numbers, and each armenian or russian letter is for example this one "ծ", or this one "գ" . Can you help me?how can they displayed as normal letters? Hi, i am restarting a site. I have the old HTML in text docs that I saved. I am using Cpanel. The home (index.html) page worked fine. But, from there I am trying to add another page (about_us). So what I am doing is creating a new file, and naming it about_us.html. Then I edit the file and paste in the code. But when trying to view the page as site.com/about_us it doesnt show up. But if I type site.com/about_us.html it does show up. The new file is displayed right above the index page in the file manager and all... I don't want our visitors to have to type ".html" at the end, they won't be likely to remember to anyway. I have no idea why it's doing this because I don't remember doing it before. The navigation bar I used previously used to work but now the links in it don't work because they dont have ".html" at the end of the link. (ex.<a href="http://www.site.com/about_us">About us</a>). We produced a commercial about 1.5 years ago and would like to put it on the website. The problem is I don't know how, and really, if its at all possible. Also, the file may be too large, about 3 minutes long. What I'd like is to have a silhouette of a few people on a gradient background. I'd like to keep the quality high, but it also makes the file size large. If there were no silhouette then I would have a one pixel strip of the gradient set to repeat. Is it possible to add two background pictures, or is there another way I can reduce the file size that I hadn't thought of? I'm writing my web site in Notepad++, using XHTML (source: w3schools tutorial) , and also getting into XML. This is my website. What I want to do is like this: 1) Move all the text content of my website to mywebsite.xml, organized in text blocks corresponding to each web page E.g.: I cut the text content from the HMTL of the "my profile" web page and paste it to the XML file as a text block under a suitable heading. By text content I mean all the text that is viewable, like "Autodidact. Freelance English-Spanish translator and style proofreader..." 2) Mark each text block in the XML E.g.: I mark the above mentioned text block with an id, "profile" 3) Place a link in the page's HTML to the corresponding text block in mywebsite.xml, so it calls the text when the page is loaded E.g.: where the original text content of the "my profile" page was, I place a link to the corresponding text block marked "profile", so the text is called and viewable when the page is loaded That way I'd manage text content more easily. For example, the text of my menu entries is the same in all pages. I want that when I need to modify the text of a menu entry (e.g. replacing "graphic design" by "visual art"), I can just do it in the XML file and that's all, instead of making the change in every web page. Also having all of my website's text content stored in a single file makes it easier to locate and modify strings. How can this be done? I have no clue. Thanks in advance. God bless you. Dear members! Im currently a learner in cSS with HTML, and i'm having a hard time understanding some simple rules and aligment options. I currently have theese two files set up; Index.html (LINK) style1.css (LINK) And what i'm having a hard time to get right is to include the different #elements from the CSS file, (So that they will be shown in the HTML documents, could someone please tell me how that is done properly?) Also, i followed THIS GUIDE to try to understand how to center-align my website, but it doesent seem to be right, as the box is not centered, at the same time as if i try to edit the values (how many pixels the box should be, nothing happens) Could someone please tell me the proper way to center-align a webpage or correct the documents so it center-aligns, as well as tell me how to construct elements / boxes in CSS so that i could start to make a basic site-design in CSS and how to code this in the HTML file so that the elements that i've constructed in the CSS file will be shown on the HTML page properly?
