HTML - Embedded Video Alignment Problem
Hello guys,
I have embedded this video on simple html page. I want that video to float in the middle of the screen. It looks OK on FireFox, but it appears on the left edge when played on Safari. (I have not checked it on IE.) What is wrong with that code? here is the link to that page: http://www.icebergfilms.com/cineDemo.html and here is that code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 TRANSITIONAL//EN"> <html> <head> <title>cinematography Demo by IcebergFilms</title> </head> <body bgcolor="#000000"> <object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" codebase="http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab" height="256" width="320"> <param name="src" value="http://www.icebergfilms.com/demo1.mov"> <param name="autoplay" value="true"> <param name="type" value="video/quicktime" height="448" width="768"> <table width="768" height="548" align="center"> <tr> <td><embed src="http://www.icebergfilms.com/demo1.mov" align="middle" height="448" width="768" autoplay="true" type="video/quicktime" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/"></td> </tr> </table> </object> </body> </html> Thank you so much for any advise. Similar TutorialsI would like to include on my website streaming HD video not unlike Youtube or Vimeo. How hard is this? Both in terms of the video compression and the coding for the site. Where do I look for info to help me out? I have a very basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, but not much else. Are the videos on Youtube and Vimeo flash? I am not sure if "streaming" or "embedded" is the proper term for what I want to do. I'll be starting with mp4 files, since those are best for encoding HD... I use x264 codec and encode 720p @ 2.5Mbps for great quality and decent filesize. But somehow Youtube compresses it even further. Example, I had a 5 minute 720p mp4 file that was around 100MB. I uploaded it to Youtube and it is now available in HD and looks pretty good. But if I watch my network connections as I am streaming it, only 20MB transfers... which means they compressed it 5 times better than I had it! That is definitely important because if I try to have streaming HD and it's not compressed enough, it won't be watchable for most people. Is there any way to embed windows media video into html without using active-x. This would be for a computer without administrative priveledges (unable to download active-x components) to view video through an html interface. I can only think of using a direct link to the file, which would require the player to be used externally. I think any embedded call up of the player will need to use embed or object tags, which need active-x (as far as I can tell, and my testing has shown) Any light shone on this black math would be greatly appreciated-- Thanks, Tim Here is the code I'm using to put in the video window: HTML Code: <script> function doChangeVideo(myVal) { mediaPlayer.autoStart= "true" mediaPlayer.fileName= myVal } </script> . . . <table border='0' cellpadding='0' align="center"> <tr><td> <OBJECT id='mediaPlayer' width="320" height="285" classid='CLSID:22d6f312-b0f6-11d0-94ab-0080c74c7e95' codebase='http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701' standby='Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components...' type='application/x-oleobject'> <param name='fileName' value="mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/TheClinicalCenterPlant-1.wmv"> <param name='animationatStart' value='true'> <param name='transparentatStart' value='false'> <param name='autoStart' value="false"> <param name='showControls' value="true"> <param name='loop' value="false"> <EMBED type='application/x-mplayer2' pluginspage='http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/' id='mediaPlayer' name='mediaPlayer' displaysize='4' autosize='-1' bgcolor='darkblue' showcontrols="true" showtracker='-1' showdisplay='0' showstatusbar='-1' videoborder3d='-1' width="320" height="285" src="mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/TheClinicalCenterPlant-1.wmv" autostart="false" designtimesp='5311' loop="false"> </EMBED> </OBJECT> </td></tr> <!-- ...end embedded WindowsMedia file --> <!-- begin link to launch external media player... --> <tr><td align='center'> <a href="mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/TheClinicalCenterPlant-1.wmv" style='font-size: 85%;' target='_blank'>Launch in external player</a> <!-- ...end link to launch external media player... --> </td></tr> </table> <CENTER><form> <select name="section" size="1" language="javascript" onChange="doChangeVideo(this.options[selectedIndex].value);"> <option selected>Select a video...</option> <option value= "mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/BillDargusch-Downtowns-1.wmv">Happy Daze</option> <option value= "mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/AtlantisLaunch-1.wmv">Shuttle Atlantis Suffers Some Damage during Launch</option> <option value= "mms://media.huntingtonnews.net/video/2007/TheTams@PullmanSquare-1.wmv">Pullman Kicks Off Summer Concert Series</option> </select> </form></CENTER> And everytime you scroll the page up and down the video just stalls on a single frame and the controls can't get it running correctly again, you just have to choose another option. And also any time I choose an option on the drop down menu the entire page locks up until the streaming video completes buffering. I'm using the CIT embedded video generator code here so I don't know it as well as I should but are there some ways to fix those problems with it or is it just going to be like that with embedded windows media player?... Codeguru Hi all, I'd like some help with the coding so that I can wrap text around embedded video. I'm not a genious at HTML so if you could make it easy to understand that would be great. Thanks in advance. Hello! I'm developing a site for a local comedy troupe and was wondering what would be the best way to go about this. Here is the draft: www.djhmusic.com/tlk Listed at the top left are each of the troupe's sketches. I want to be able to click on, for example, "Mood Rings" and have the youtube embedded video play in that video window where the player graphic is. The embed code for the Mood Rings video on youtube is: <code> <!--Begin <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/INuh84DCJbM"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/INuh84DCJbM" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> --end> </code> What's the best/easiest way to do this? iframes? Thanks so much, Dan Hi i have sucessfully added an embedded code to my site... not a problem.. copied and pasted html coding from a video.. into html view.. fine. However.. the video appears top left of my page always. Within the embed video code i see no parameters for screen positioning.. just size.. which is repeated twice (all codes from utube vids etc seem the same) eg <object width="400" height="300" ><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/124990176803" /><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/124990176803" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></embed></object> is there a piece of html code i should add... either within this before it or after it? Im new to this stuff.. been on ages! Please help! I would like to link an youtube video on one of my blog post using the embedded code that youtube provided. So I added in my post html view this code: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mIhqjRWZ77Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Before to publish the post I tested it, with the wordpress preview option. Some browser not works well. This is the scenario: 1) Using the last version of the Internet Explorer browser the post with the video works fine. 2) Using the last version of the Google Chrome browser I have to reload the html page two times before to view exactly the embedded video. After that the page works fine but when I load for the first time the page I don't see the video. 3) Using the last version of the Safari and the Firefox browser I have to reload two times the html page before to view the embedded video and after I have a problem viewing the video. The message is that the format video is not supported. Could you please help me to solve the problem. Which is the correct way to use the embedded code starting from youtube website ? How can I debug the issue ? Thanks a lot. Hello, Using the Greasemonkey script on Facebook, I was able to embed a video on my website. However, the code is not XHTML compliant (includes embed tags). The code is below. I've struggled trying to convert this into code using the object tag. is it possible? Can someone show me where I need to move each part of the existing code into an "object" based code? Hopefully it is readable - it is some declarations, a body with maybe 10 links in it, and then an embedded video code from Exposure Room. I have the alignment how I want it, but the background-black in the body doesn't work any more. Is anyone able to show me how to keep the center alignments I have but also switch the background of the whole page to black? It works if I take out the <center> tags but then everything is left aligned, which I don't like. I'm attempting at building a small website for my local golf club, one of the tabs on the page is a "Contact" link, inside this tab page I have attempted to embed a small GoogleMap with co-ordinates of the golf club. Whilst testing with IE7 the embedded GoogleMap appears randomly at the bottom of the page totally out of place where it should be. If browsing using Firefox, IE8 or Chrome it appears in the correct place, which is in the middle of the "Contact" page, and only when you click on the "Contact" tab. I only seem to have this issue with IE7, all the other browsers I've tested so far it aligns perfectly (Firefox, IE8, Chrome). As I say above, this issue only appears in IE7 - however I'm more than sure it is just a stupid mistake on my behalf, but I've tried and tried and can't seem to resolve it. Appreciate any help anyone can offer - Many thanks in advance. The website URL is: http://staging.boarsheadgolfcentre.co.uk/ The bit of code that handle the embedded map is: Code: <div class="box" id="contact_page"> <div class="m_table"> <table width="85%" align="left" cellpadding="20"> <tr> <td> <h1 align="left">Contact Us</h1> </td> <td rowspan="5"> <div id="map_canvas" style="border-style:solid; border-width:1px; float: right; width: 350px; height: 450px"></div> <strong style='float:right;'><a href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&expIds=17259,28023&xhr=t&cp=39&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=Boars+Head+Golf+Centre+Ltd,+Crowborough&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=Boars+Head+Golf+Centre+Ltd,&hnear=Crowborough,+East+Sussex&cid=0,0,4613151939200773413&ei=y98ITfieOYO3hQelsojLDw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CCUQnwIwAQ" style='text-decoration: none;'><font color=#000000>For a larger map click here</font></a></strong> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <p style='border: none;'> <strong>Boars Head Golf Centre </strong><br />Boars Head, Crowborough, East Sussex, TN6 3HD <br /><br /> <strong>General Manager: </strong>Peter Grenham<br /><strong>Telephone: </strong>01892 664 545<br /><br /> <strong>Professional: </strong>Keith Robson<br /><strong>Assistant Professional: </strong>George Scott </p> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <p style='border: none;'> <strong>Location/Description:</strong><br /> Situated just outside Crowborough on the way to Tunbridge Wells on the B2157. So how do i make the player play multiple streams after another. Also this player should start automaticly when someone enters the page... Please help! Also this needs to work in Firefox and IE... Anyone have source code for this kinda system and is there a script to prompt for plugin for firefox? Sir. Turhapuro I've been using Visual Studio 2005 to create a website, and my embedded videos will not play. They play fine when I start the website through VS 2005, but if I just open the files through IE, they videos don't start. VS shows the site through IE as well, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Here's some code: <tr> <td colspan=14 align = center> <EMBED width="512" height="429" src="../../Videos/1.1-video.wmv" ></EMBED> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=14 align = center> <a href="../../Videos/1.1-video.wmv" target='_blank' onmouseover="launch='white'" onmouseout="launch='#999999'" style="text-decoration: none"> <font id="launch" size="3" face="Bookman Old Style" color="#9999"> <b>Launch in External Player</b></font> </a> </td> </tr> The second part of the code launches the video in an external player correctly. When I click on Error Reason, it gives me this: You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue. Cannot play the file Windows Media Player cannot play the file. You might encounter this error message for one of the following reasons: Your sound device is not functioning properly. Try using Device Manager to check the status of your sound device. You are trying to play a file on the Internet and the server might be temporarily unavailable or there might be a network issue. Try again later. You are trying to play an MP3 file that contains compressed ID3 headers. The ID3 header is a portion of the file that stores the song's album information (for example, the song name, artist name, album name, and genre). This information is sometimes called a "tag." I'm having trouble with embedding multiple videos to the same player. I'm not using asx files, but rather wmv to make a selection-list. I found a site that solved my due problem and the thing works. however!! The URL in the code refers to youtube videos, and that's great and all, but I needed 'em to link to my own media files. so I changed the URL's to those on my server, and here's the problem: when doing it offline with the files on my harddrive I can add as many files I want to without it complaining, but the second it goes online or I link to wmv files on the internet it can't seem to get a connection. It only works if I have but a single <div> entry typed. As soon as I add more the thing bugs. I even tried changing "application/x-shockwave-flash" to "application/x-mplayer2" Please!! Any solution to this?? What am I doing wrong?? Example with ref's to youtube-videos, below. <div id='videoPlayback' style='width: 435px; height:350px; background-color: #800000;'></div> <div id='selectDemo2' style='display: none'> <object width="320" height="285"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c6SHsF1n9Qw"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c6SHsF1n9Qw&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="285" autostart=0 showstatusbar=1> </embed> </object> </div> <div id='selectDemo2' style='display: none'> <object width="320" height="285"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-is63goeBgc"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-is63goeBgc&autoplay=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="320" height="285" autostart=0 showstatusbar=1> </embed> </object> </div> <A HREF="#" onclick='return playVideo("selectDemo1","videoPlayback")'>RvD2: Ryan vs. Dorkman 2</A> <BR> <A HREF="#" onclick='return playVideo("selectDemo2","videoPlayback")'>Beatboxing Flute <q>Peter and the Wolf</q></A <BR> <script type="text/javascript">function playVideo(sourceId, targetId) { if (typeof(sourceId)=='string') {sourceId=document.getElementById(sourceId);} if (typeof(targetId)=='string') {targetId=document.getElementById(targetId);} targetId.innerHTML=sourceId.innerHTML; return false;}</script> I have the png over an embedded video and the center of the png is transparent, but because the the cursor doesn't recognize the video play button behind it, I can't click on it. Is there a way to have the png in the foreground, but use recognize the link behind it? I've finally figured out how to get my video started, but it won't loop. Also, the video won't work in IE. I'm trying to load this video without forcing my viewers into installing plugins, if possible. http://www.prestigekitchensandbaths.com/test/ Here's the code I'm using to make it work. Please help Website URL - http://www.cae.eu5.org I tried to embed a wmv video in my web page, using this code: <HEAD><meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="no"> <meta http-equiv="imagetoolbar" content="false"> </HEAD> <BODY bgcolor="#000000"> <p align="center"> <img border="0" dynsrc="baby_girl.wmv" start="fileopen"></p> </BODY></HTML> I uploaded the wmv into a folder called just_like_daddy on my website called www.lovetoamuse.com On a blog I placed this link to the page: www.lovetoamuse.com/just_like_daddy To complicate matters, the video shows up on my computer, but when I try to see to it from the blog on another computer, it doesn't work. What code can I use to ensure it works everywhere, using the url www.lovetomuse.com/just_like_daddy Thanks i have uploaded my website. i m facing a problem. my website appears differently in different computers. its like changing alignment, table spreading so so. i used table to develop the site. how can i fix this problem. Can anyone help me? I've been putting my layout into html from photoshop and finally finished, thing is I was using Firefox to view it as I went along. Now when I view it in Internet Explorer, there is this small unexplained space on the right side of my header image that is screwing up the page, plus the table that I have the navigations links on the top left has way more spacing between rows than it does on Firefox. Here's the layout: http://www.ff12guide.com/ the two problems a 1) the empty space to the right of 'header_red.jpg' and 'top-2-shadow.jpg' at the top of the page 2) the links in the 'sections' area at the top-left (characters, combat, etc.) is much more spaced out than it is in Firefox, and does not look right I absolutely cannot figure out how to fix this and it's driving me nuts, anyone have an idea? |
