HTML - How To Build A Page For A Single Affiliate Link So My Website Skins Their Storefront?

I'm writing my web site in Notepad++, using XHTML (source: w3schools tutorial) , and also getting into XML. This is my website. What I want to do is like this:

1) Move all the text content of my website to mywebsite.xml, organized in text blocks corresponding to each web page
E.g.: I cut the text content from the HMTL of the "my profile" web page and paste it to the XML file as a text block under a suitable heading. By text content I mean all the text that is viewable, like "Autodidact. Freelance English-Spanish translator and style proofreader..."

2) Mark each text block in the XML
E.g.: I mark the above mentioned text block with an id, "profile"

3) Place a link in the page's HTML to the corresponding text block in mywebsite.xml, so it calls the text when the page is loaded
E.g.: where the original text content of the "my profile" page was, I place a link to the corresponding text block marked "profile", so the text is called and viewable when the page is loaded

That way I'd manage text content more easily. For example, the text of my menu entries is the same in all pages. I want that when I need to modify the text of a menu entry (e.g. replacing "graphic design" by "visual art"), I can just do it in the XML file and that's all, instead of making the change in every web page. Also having all of my website's text content stored in a single file makes it easier to locate and modify strings.

How can this be done? I have no clue.

First of all I am very beginner, I would like to create very long web page in single page , document contains image and many articles (paragraphs), I need to create menu (button) addressed for each article. I tried anchors but failed.
Could someone please help me creating this page .

Hi All ,
In my page, it has two div, one on the left side to do navigation stuff and the right one to display contents of page. How can I create a scroll bar just on the right div so that when it scroll, the div on the left side wont move.

Dear all.

I see this done many times on many websites (especially comic websites) where an image has a forwards and backwards arrow button, and images selected correspondingly.

Ideally I want the [img src="images/001.jpg"] file name to increase by one each time. So all I have to do is add more images in ever increasing filenames to the images folder, 002.jpg, 003.jpg etc.

How do I add one to a filename and then refresh the page?

Can I do this in XHTML ?

Im not an expert. I am a teacher at an elementary school. I am trying to set up a webpage for our school that will allow students to view egg hatchings going on in all their classrooms. Im doing this through the use of webcams. I can get a single webcam to display in a page, but when I go for more than one, this is what happens...

Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and have very basic HTML knowledge. I've set up a page at

which, as it is coded now, automatically plays a goofy 5 second MP3 audio file when the page loads.

What I would like to do is have the page randomly choose between 2 or three different of these very short MP3 audio clips and play one of them (and only one of them) when a visitor first comes to this page.

Can anyone here recommend a way for me to do this? I do not want a visible player for this randomly chosen clip.

Hello, I am trying to hose just a single splash page with a background image, a logo & a couple of links.

I only need this free/cheap hosting for 1-2 months.

Any ideas who would work for this?

I'd prefer free.

There may be a lot of traffic at some point to the splash page, but the only thing they will be able to do from that page is email or go to the myspace page.

So I dont think I need a lot of disc space, but not sure how the bandwidth will be used since there techincally isnt anything there but a logo and a couple of links?

No nudity will be on this particular splash page, so I assume I can host the file(s) any where.

Hi Guys, I have a simple question, I havent done any web/html stuff for a long time, ive totally forgotton how to do everything.

At the moment im working on a small project, I was thinking of running it off a database but I think its way to complicated even for that as all I need is a single html page that populates with information that I have when certain inormation is entered.

Basically its a contact list, name, number, ID, landline fax number etc.

I have a list of about 400 names which I want to be searched by a ID and state, so for example, theres 2 data entry boxes, one is a drop down box of states and the next is a text entry field where you enter the ID (3 digits) once selected, it populates another text field with the information.

I want all the info to remain on a single page, or maybe the info on another page and displayed on the main page when the propriate ID number is entered.
Id prefer it this way as I can easily edit the page with text.

I dont think a database is appropriate, as I need to run this locally.

Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get this done?
Id appreciate any help.

I have some links (in the header, the SUPPORTERS) to different websites, but when I click on them the address in the address bar does not change to the address of the website that I clicked. How do I make it show the address that I clicked on? Thanks.

I am a total noob but volunteered to administrate the website, because there was no one else to do it.

I have my website and inserted an iframe.

This works fine but if I click a link INSIDE this it doesnt remain inside the iframe and instead brings up the page as the entire window.

Is there a simple solution for this?

This works, the problem is the video starts playing as soon as you open the page. How to I add a "click here to view video" so people have the option of seeing the video?

I'm new to this forum and thanking anyone who helps in advance.

I have designed a website for my company which owns and operates bars and hotels in the North East of England.

The site looks quite good, and I'm trying to finish it off.

One problem I am stuck on is the drop down bar menu of bars and hotels. I want people to be able to choose the venue from the drop down list and then have it take them to the pubs website. However, at the moment it just links to an error page in the website.

I designed it in frontpage 2003 and am only really familiar with this programme. I have tried editing the links etc but having no luck.

Is anyone able to help?

So I want to design a website that people sign up for a free service. Upon signing up they get a referral link to send people to the website. They have a members back page where they can log-in and have access to tools to advertise for the website and also track their hits to the website. I would also need an admin page that I could track their hits to their referral website and be able to e-mail all members at one time. I don't really want to buy affiliate software since im not really selling anything and I do not need all the features, any advice?
