HTML - Member/staff Pages

Hi All , This is my first post.

I like to consult all of you here , what softare i should use to set up my web site.

In the pass i try to set up using front page , that is 10 yr ago , and 5 yr ago i use dream waver .

Now i not sure which software is better for me to set up my web site ?

I need some user friendly software to set up , as i am no good in writing code.

Hope some one can advise me.

My name is Michael and I am an Engineer & Comp. Tech. with little knowledge of HTML CODING.

OPTION" QUESTION - PLEASE HEELLLLPPPPPPPP!!!

I pasted a drop down OPTION HTML coding in an index.htm for "Business 1", but I need the second part where "option 2" chooses i.e; "Business 2".
I can select option 1 or 2, but I don't know how to link it to i.e.; "Business 1" or "Business 2".

Please heelllllpppppppp!!!

I'm currently making a new layout for my site and before it will go online, I want to set all my pages on a BRB page/status (customized with my own brb logo+text etc..

Anyway I can do this?

If this is in the wrong section sorry, i have been thinking of adding a new page to my site and added sky sports, but how do i set up a page that opens another web page right away?

How do I make variable pages?
EG:
../showgame?id=10

So multiple pages can begenerated from one document.

I have my main website called index.html, but since i've added php into the code, i've renamed it to index.php. But I also have a forum, which includes another index.php.

I'm wanting to have my index.php page to be the page that people see when they come to my website.

Is there anyway that it could happen?

Is there any way to use an xml file and create a link to a new page that has information based on a block of data in the xml file?

I am working on a website and I am having problems with some of my pages loading. I thought it might have been an error in the html code. I rechecked & found no errors. I even moved the pages around. I moved the ones that were working, into the slot of the page that would not load. It loaded fine. When I click the page in the file. It displays properly at the top and everything. But when I try to access it from another page, it will not load. I get a white page that says this page can't be displayed. Here is the area I am having problems with.

I have just started to get my feet wet in web development so please don't be annoyed if this is a little basic.

I have a 12 page intranet site with links on each page. As these links are the same on all pages i would like to know if there is a way to update one file and include that on all pages.

At the momment i am updating the links individually.

I have a simple question here. I have about 30 pages for my website. All of them use the same default layout that I created (sidebar links, bottom links, background etc).

How can I call the layout in each webpage without having to copy and paste the entire layout? The problem is that if I make a small change to the layout, I don't want to have to change it in each individual page but just the master layout page.

Currently my website is valid XHTML but I am planning on re coding the whole thing. I wanted to use HTML because to me it's a little easier and more basic. If I just start out with the html and head tags and no DOCTYPE and use the basic tags...do you think it would still work ok?

I just dont want to go through the whole validation thing. I know other sites who use plain HTML without validating and their site works fine. Also I was wondering if it matters about uppercase tags? like < HTML > and < A > or < a > does caps make any difference?

I guess I should probably just try it and then test it on major browsers to see for myself. Any advice would be appreciated! I just want to use plain HTML without worrying about validation....but I also want to make sure that people can use it on all different monitor sizes and browsers (at least all major browsers). I know thats the whole point of validation, but pretty much my question is: if I use plain HTML tags, including deprecated ones such as the < font > tag if it would still be usable on major browsers?

I'm wondering because I've noticed that even though the W3C claims they are deprecated, some of them still work anyways? Sometimes I wonder if the W3C is right about that?

I am relatively new to wordpress and have just created undertaken a pro-bono project for a company in Iowa. The site is up and running, however I have noticed a pretty big issue when viewing in IE.

The background seems to keep going after the content has finished and tiles the texture far down the page. You can see it online he

I am using a bit of css trickery to get two images displaying in the background and think this might have something to do with it.

I am looking to have an area beside my nav bar that is titled "Whats New". This would be a small square beside the nav bar with a few links under it that would link to new additions of the site or current events. I want this section to be included on all 9 pages of my website, but when I change these items I dont want to have to change the links and text on all 9 pages. How can I make it so I alter just one page and it will change on all 9 to save me time?

Could I use CSS to do this? If so how?
Also I thought of using an iFrame. Not sure if that would work either. Please let me know of a way to do this

Hey guys I have made a site but I have noticed a potential problem. I have about 10 pages and each page has the menu coded on it using css.


If I wanted to change the style of the menu then thats easy as I have a external style sheet. If I want to add a link I would have to open up every page and add the link to each file.

Is there a way I can create the menu in one file and include it in each page.

So if I want to add a link I just add it to the one file and it would be updated on every page.
