HTML - Define Frame Size

Hi!
I am using Dreamweaver 8 to develope my site. I have broken the page in three pieces(frames) So that the top frame shows the title, the left frame is for links that I want to show as flash movies in the right frame. I have studied the help file and I have looked on the web and I can't find an explanation that I can understand on how to do this. I believe the clickable link should be an href but I don't know how to code it. Can someone explain this to me?

i have 2 frames in my parent frame say 1.htm ie left frame and 2.htm ie right frame
now this 1.htm is quite a long frame and has a scrollbar
and 2.htm is a short one
i dont the scroll bar beside my frame 1 but want it to be for my entire parent window
ie i wont to scroll both my left and right frames together
how do i do that

I have a page that contains a text area. What I want it to do is to change its size according to the size of the browser window.

How can I make it do that?

I did it once but just can't seem to remember how I did it.

So i just added some google adsense floating ads to my website. They looked pretty nice where they were BUT when i tried it in a thin screen, it falls. So how do I define the border of when the horizonal scrollers appear?

All:

Working to update a previously designed website.

Original design uses an <img> tag to create a top banner and another <img> tag
to create a side banner.

In each case there are mapped coordinates on each banner as links for the subsequent pages.

Basic page design is as follows:

The challenge is that the [PAGE CONTENT] varries in length througout the site causing some pages
to be much longer or shorter than others.

This causes some inconsistencey in the relationship between the side banners height and the
page content.

In other words in some cases the banner is exceptionally longer than the page content and the
reader must scroll past significant "dead-space" before being brought to the lowest
mapped links in the side banner; or...

...in some cases the side banner is significantly shorter than the page content causing the
banner image to appear "poorly-fit" to the page design.

I considered altering the 2nd table instance in the above design so that the banner is carried
in a <td> tag that is adjacent to the page content and hopefully to allow the tag carrying the
image to size relative to the <td> tag carring the content....

The problem I've found with this is that as the content size causes the image to "flex", either
readablilty or image quality or both are effected, AND the mappings become inconsistent as the
image coordinates constantly change.

I've considered 2 solutions and am leaning toward one, but thought I'd post this and see if there
are better ideas I'm overlooking.

One idea was to add additional table rows inside the [PAGE CONTENT] table presumably creating a
"defalut" page size that would never be smaller than a standard for the side banner.
Problem: larger page sizes are still a problem as are the changing map coordinates

My other idea was to return to the original page design listed first above and again settle on
a standard side banner "height"... ...any page that was significantly longer than that height
would be split to 2 or more pages with a [NEXT>>] button at the bottom of the page navigating to
the additional content.
Problem: ...possible complications splitting content...
Benefit: ...consistent page design that allows a consistent side banner with navigable links...


Question for the group:
Does this sound reasonable?
Are there better alternatives I am overlooking?

i have a javascript code which shows 10 recent post of my blog by RSS,
there is a advertise of that site at the bottom of it,
some friend told me to add : <div> tags to it and define width and height for it
and for the height change the number until the ad disappears...
also he told me to put the flow on "hidden"

but i don't understand much
can u help me out?

hey guys, im looking for a way of cutting down the amount the visitor to my site has to download, as well and speed of loading betweens pages, ive attached an image of how to site looks so far, i have rows of links on eith side, on the top, and a row going down the center i wish to display in. If the user clicks on a link from anyside i would like only the center text to change and leave the links and header, saveing on size of the web pages on the server and the amount the user has to download

i looked around and found frames would be an answer but there god dam confusing and it seems they come attached with a scroll bar where as i would like the page to simply feed downwards

is there any way of keeping the outer part like a template and like i said just have the links replace the text with what ever the topic?

Hey Guys - I need to make a real basic page with a frameset-like element.

I need the top part of the page to remain stationary, and the bottom scroll underneath it - so that the top part of the page stays on stop of whatever the user is looking at.

Should I do this with frames, or is there another method that I am unaware of?

i am using iframe concept in my website ,But it is not working

hmm I asked for help in getting a big frame over the site content and I got here help .(by the way thanks)(I dont mean frames... What I meant was to put the content in some kind of a big frame likse div...)

I have one command button in body.xhtml page, after clicking that button, i want to dipaly login page again without any frame, ie. i want to display that page entire screen, but in my case its displaying only in body page.

I wanted to put some kind of a big frame ( not with frames ) around the web content so that the sides would be clear without any content on it.
I tried alot of stuff but nothing helps

Ok call me slow but I am starting to move to a non-frame web site structure now and I am going to be getting away from tables except to display tabular data. Most of my sites have a header image and a menu that I want to stay constant from page-to-page. Also, I assume I want to lay-out my pages using styles and divs. Can someone point me to a resource that discusses these things.

I am creating a site using frames.

Here is the main bit:

I have put a link to' images.html' in my menu and set the target to 'mainFrame'. When I test it, it works fine (the image page opens in the main section).

My problem is: I want to be able to click on an image within the main section and view the picture in the contentFrame.
I am using dreamweaver, when I open images.html, there is no other targets other than the standard:, _top, _parent etc

Hey, I have frame borders that are the standard IE grey colour. They look kind of 3D-ish and have shading on one side.

When I change the border colour to black (bordercolour="#000000"), it runs a black link through the borders, however, there is still the shading to make it look 3D. I want my border to simply be a flat black line (3 pixels wide), like that of one you might get in photoshop or paint by using the pencil tool.

Does anyone know how to achieve this? Thanks in advance. =]
