HTML - Embedded Flash File Not Working In Safari/firefox
You may have seen this question before, but I cannot for the life of me find an answer that works.
I embedded a .swf flash file on a page on my website. This flash plays perfectly on IE and Chrome, but nothing shows up on Safari or Firefox. I, at first, wrote the code by hand. Then I instead used swfobject to properly write the code (this still hasn't fixed the problem) I used the w3 markup validation site to check the code, and it comes back with 0 errors. Any Ideas? The code is below: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <title></title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="posthink.swf"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.registerObject("myFlashContent", "9.0.0"); </script> </head> <body> <div style="text-align: center;"> <object classid="clsid: D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="550" height="400" id="myFlashContent"> <param name="movie" value="posthink.swf" /> </object> </div> </body> </html> (I inserted a space in the classid= tag to do away with the : D turning into a smiley) Thanks for your help. Similar TutorialsHi, Could anyone explain to me why the Flash file won't show up when played in Safari? It comes in super small and can't be seen... It contains an image and sound and should be in the first top black bar... Any help would be greatly appreciated! http://www.curiousclothing.com/new/index_test.htm I am a graphic designer which is almost a complete idiot about web design, i have some problem making a web site. While i try to open my web site in FIREFOX and IE it does not work. (while safari works well) the existing link is www.sindysindy.com when i click the targeted link on the top buttons (about&contact) it open up a new pop up page. I names the top frame as TOP, the bottom two named "menu" on the left and "mainframe" on the right. It works in Safari (4.02) and IE7. When I say not working, I mean that when I click the submit button, the address does not change to the form processing url: Code: <!-- The data encoding type, enctype, MUST be specified as below --> <form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="uploader.php" method="POST"> <!-- MAX_FILE_SIZE must precede the file input field --> <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="30000" /> <!-- Name of input element determines name in $_FILES array --> Send this file: <input name="mp3file" type="file" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Send File" /> </form> The file uploader.php does nothing, it is blank, I'm merely trying to establish communication. Once again, the code functions in IE and Safari so I dont think this is PHP related. Right well i have an swf file and it's playing fine in safari but not in firefox - the place where it's supposed to be is just blank. Any ideas? http://www.absolute-websites.com/portfolio#animation Here is the code: HTML Code: <object id="peepShow" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,28,0" data="video/peep_show.swf" width="550" height="400"> <param name="movie" value="video/peep_show.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high"/> </object> Hi, can anybody tell me why the flash animation is not correctly displayed in Firefox ? (and only the second time I visit the website) http://lancelmaat.nl/ thanks Hello all, I just got a job working for a school and noticed their website was pretty much unorganized. So yesterday i took up dreamweaver and created this page(the rest of the site is pending acceptance/working of this main page): http://pratt.broward.edu/colejw/Attucks/ However, it did come with problems. In IE it displays fine, everything seems to work. But.. Firefox doesn't seem to like my menu bar and flash scroller combo. In firefox the flash scroller appears over the drop down menu, below is a picture of what i mean. Everything below the menu bar is in a table, so its not the table itself since the drop down appears over the pictures and other text. The only thing overriding it is the flash scroller. Anyone have any ideas? i played with Z-index and such but no luck and in one instance it moves everything from the menu down over to the right of the menu, i could also be placing the z-index's in the wrong place. If anyone has any fixes please let me know. Hi Everyone- I'm hoping someone out there might be able to solve a problem I've been having with my site for a number of years. The site was designed for IE but with the growing popularity of Firefox and Safari (to name a few), I want to insure that it works properly with those browsers. For the most part, it does -- except when displaying a background image in a table. For example - look at this page: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/...anentwaves.php When viewed in I.E., the grey background image with the woman displays properly, as does the full image of the album cover within. However when viewed in Firefox or Safari, the background image repeats near the bottom for about 20 pixels. The problem also exists on a page like this one: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/lyrics.php Where the brown background image which includes the words "Rush Lyrics" displays properly in I.E. but seems to repeat for 20 pixels in FF. This one's been driving me crazy for years and, due to some recent changes I've been making, it's come back to haunt me. If anyone has any suggestions as to why this is happening and what I can do to remedy it, I would greatly appreciate it... Thanks so much. Okay well I have a bit of a problem... it's not major but it's enough to annoy a perfectionist. On my website I have set up a table (100% wide) with three columns in, the middle column is 700px wide. (I presumed this would balance out the two side columns placing the middle column in dead center. It does(ish). I am guessing this might be a way that is frowned upon but, I am thinking of adding extra little bits of info in them outside columns later on... In safari (my main browser) it works fine and places it exactly however, in firefox (on mac) there is a slight one pixel nudge to the right which stands out significantly. (In fact, it was the first thing I noticed!) The background image is obviously the problem but this seems like the only route as I have found this error half way down the line and I do not want to go back and do a load of HTML code editing! Screenshots below: Firefox: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5249/picture7mfq.png Safari: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4269/picture6kpd.png Is there any possible fix to this solution? Only logged in users can see this page so I could store a users screen width in a $_SESSION variable using PHP and then adjust this on each page? Just an idea I thought of but I doubt... any help is highly appreciated!!!!!! P.S: I have not tested in IE yet... I will in a minute... UPDATE //////////////////////////////// I just tested it in Firefox on Windows Vista.... there was no problem. And as for Internet Explorer.. everything is fine.. |
