Hey guys, I used to know a lot about html, but then just completely stopped doing anything with websites for too long.

I was just wondering how I can replace a word or number with a specified word or number.

What I want to achieve:
I've got a forum with a couple thousand members and it's picking up in activity and I want to make some names stand out for being helpful. I want to replace their names with an image.

But to do so, it'd have to be a code made and added into the footer template. Because obviously I can't edit a username for html image code. So I just need the code to find all instances of a certain username and replace it with what I specified.

First I would like to know if there is a better way of doing this. <div></div> is the only way I know of doing it although others have told me they didn't even know it could be done with <div></div>.

Second I would like to know if there's some way to control the speed at which the box scrolls.

Third If the content is text then I want the scroll function to be vertical. There's other times I need the scroll to be horizontal.

This is what the code looks like when viewed in Chrome and Firefox. However when used in IE the content can often move through the boarders.

Ok, I dont know what its called, but you know that little 16x16 picture that appears before the URL in the address box?

Hi all!

I have two <select>, and, depending on what the user selects in the first one changes the options in the second.

For example is the 1st <select> is HONDA, the 2nd <select> will automatically become a list of: ACCORD, CIVIC, etc. But it the 1st is FORD, the 2nd automatically has a list of F-150, MUSTANG, etc -- when the user views it.

Is this done in just HTML or do I need a different scripting? If so, would you tell me where I should look?

I am working on a Table of Contents generator. All is working as it should, however, I am using nested <ul>s for the TOC and the default indenting is way too much for my purposes. I am currently using:
<ul style="margin-left:-2em">
to get approximately what I need. This works on IE9 and the latest FireFox. It does Not get the desired effect in my development environment (Visual Studio).
In the dev env, the entries slide too far to the left - almost off the page.

Since VS is using an older (somewhat modified) version of the IE API, I fear that my TOC will look like garbage on at least some other browsers.

I am looking for any suggestions to get the desired effect on all likely browsers. In fact, a suggestion that says - "here is a nice free TOC generator with a Windows API" would be just great.

I don't if this is HTML, but if anyone knows the answers could you please help me.
Okay, this are two codes: the facebook share box so people could share my blog's post on their facebook, and the other one is a twitter tweet code. The problem is that I am trying to make the twitter tweet button to show up at the front of the facebook share box; but it doesn't matter in what order I put the code, the facebook share box is always showinh up before the twitter tweet button. Does any one knows how to solve this problem?

No if I put this two codes together like this, you can see that I put the twitter code first and then the facebook code, so the tweet button should should up first and then the facebook code. But for some reason, it doesn't matter what code I put first, the facebok share box keeps showing up in front of the tweet button.

Is there any type of tool that will help me change tables to divs. I have found a template I like but it uses tables. Since I do not know much about tables it is confusing. Or lacking a program that will help me maybe someone would explain it to me. Is there a tuterail that will help me. If I am right I should be able to get all this stuff into css.

I have a quicktime that I turn into a flash file then into an swf for our website. It plays out beautifully except I have two problems, I need it to link to another page when clicked and I need the mouse to change to the hand icon when hovering over it. I as able to figure out the link part for most browsers except Internet Explorer. Any advice on how to get the icon to change for an swf file and hopefully think link for internet explorer. thanks for your time

I have a drop down box with a few items that can be selected.

When an item is selected and the Submit button is clicked, the form POSTS to FormMail.php which sends me an email with the value of "id_products".

What I want to do is to expand on what the "Bundles" are before sending by email.

For example, if "Bundle 2" is selected, then "id_products" equals "Bundle 2". I want to check what "id_products" is before sending this off to the FormMail.php and change it to something more descriptive, like:

If id_products = "Bundle 2" then
id_products = "Mustang $495
Pinto $23
Chevy $1200"

So instead of receiving for id_products "Bundle 2" by email, I get...

Mustang $495
Pinto $23
Chevy $1200

... instead.

Can this be done?

This morning I changed an old image on my website to a NEW image. No names were changed in my Main Page. Still the same old src=etc, etc

However, after 20 minutes, the *old* image is still displaying. Even though I only have the *new* image on my apache Webserver !!

*Who* keeps this old image and where do they keep it ?

I'm very puzzled !

Can anyone explain this please ?

In my website there is an option of font size and when click it will change the font of all the text on that page according to the font the user pick.... how will I do that?

This is kind of hard to explain so I hope you stay with me.

I have a site and everytime you navigate to a page everything is loaded. The same images the same background everything. So I firgured to help save the load time of pages I would make a frameset. Since the Only thing the on my site that changes is one layer with new text.

Unfortunately, the frameset won't work.
I use hidden layers as a drop down navigation for a few buttons when you hover over them. So if I were to use a framset the layer would then drop down but the mainframe would cover up the drop down navigation (which is a layer). I tried figuring out to get a layer to show up over all frames but I had no luck. I also messed around with z index but that still didnt work.

So my question is... is it possible to get a layer to change but not the entire page?

If you look you will see that layer17 is the only layer that changes. Is there a way to get that to be the only thing to change when going to a new page rather then the entire page?
Layers 31, 30, and 29 are the drop down navigation, and the reason why I cannot use the frameset as they will not show becuase they go underneath the mainframe.

I'm in no way very fluent with any coding. I only work on this site and thats it.
