Any suggestions as to how I can fix it? http://www.taxless.co.uk/en/news Thanks - Jack Hi, I'm a newbie, and have taught myself from books and the web, so please be patient with me! I have noticed these symbols appear at the bottom left of my index page: My site is http://www.artish.com.au. It doesn't appear when I check the page before uploading it. It only seems to appear in IE (firefox doesn't show it). Just wondering what it is, and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance for any help offered... Leticia Hi, I'm having a problem with layout I'm doing. I'm currently using all HTML. I have <div> tags for each section, and, not that I have to keep it that way - but it seemed uniformed. Anyway, onto the problem. I have the bg of my page, let's say yellow. Then I've got two <div> sections - one for navigation and one for content. The <div> section for content has a white bgcolor, and I set up the <div> section for the navigation the same way - with a white bgcolor. Problem is, everytime I type in the <div> navigation & content section the yellow bg shows up. When I press enter, the white bg shows, press enter again and type, the yellow bg. I'm also working with a style sheet so there's not alot of formatting in the body, which I prefer. Here is the code for the layout: <body> <!--Sagmar logo at top of page--> <div id="img"> <img src="siteImg/logo.jpg" width="607" height="230" alt="Sagmar Leather"> </div> <!--Navigation section--> <div id="nav"> <p> </p> <p><a href="#">Home</a> <p><a href="#">Products</a> <p><a href="#">Contact Us</a> <p><a href="#">Disclaimer</a> </div> <!--Content for webpage--> <div id="content"> <!--Start typing content here--> dsfdfds</div> </body> _____________________________________ Also here is the style sheet code I'm using: body, p { background-color: #FF9D0B; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; color: #993300; scrollbar-face-color: #FFFFFF; scrollbar-highlight-color: #FFFFFF; scrollbar-3dlight-color: #FFFFFF; scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #FFFFFF; scrollbar-shadow-color: #FFFFFF; scrollbar-arrow-color: #FF9D0B; scrollbar-track-color: #FFFFFF; } #nav { border: 2px; border-style: solid; border-color: #993300; background-color: #FFFFFF; position:absolute; width:105px; height:592px; left: 10px; top: 254px; text-align: center; font-weight: bold; } #content { border: 2px; border-style: solid; border-color: #993300; background-color: #FFFFFF; position: absolute; width: 491px; height: 592px; left: 125px; top: 255px; } ______________________________ I'm also using a style sheet so that I don't have so much formatting in the actual body. So the question is - is there someway to get the <div> navigation & content sections to stop acting like this (yellow, white, yellow, white)? Should I just use tables instead? (But if there is a way to stop it and keep using <div> I would like that too). BUT if tables are the way to go, it wouldn't kill me. Thanks for any input on this. Hello all, First post here, been stalking for a few weeks and of course, I'm milking for information. Wish I knew enough to contribute. I've undertaken a web design project for a friend and I've run into a few snags I've never seen. I have a background color set, and the background color only extends the size of the browser window. It's grey when I scroll down. www.thephoenixpages.com/ourstory Forgive the design, not my doing. Also, is there a discrepancy in positioning with Chrome vs FF ? The picture box is off in each browser. Lastly, I attempted the sticky footer(as seen on some of the pages, but not the linked one) and it had the same problem. It wouldn't stick to the bottom, but the bottom of the window as seen on the screen. If anyone could shed some light on these problems, I'll email you a high five. Thanks. larsy Hello Everyone, i am new to HTML, i am trying to develop my first website. I am using asp.net , C#, HTML, CSS and Visual studio2008 on windows Xp I had a page, in that i moved the tables to center. after moving the tables to center i found the white space on the left and right sides of the page. Now i want to fill the white space which is on the left and right sides of the page with the black color. Can anyone please help me thank you regards john. Hi, I want to change the background color of my textbox on focus and change it back to white on onblur event. Issue: When i change the back ground color for text box on focus it properly changes it. But when i leave the focus from textbox border color for text box is impacted and its changed to white. Please help so that border color for textbox is not impacted only background color should change here is the sample code <code> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head> <body> <p> <input name="text1" type="text" id="text1" value="textbox 1" onfocus="this.style.background ='#cad5df'" onblur="this.style.background='white'"> </p> <p> <input name="text2" type="text" id="text2" value="textbox 2" onFocus="this.style.background = 'yellow'" onBlur="this.style.background='white'"> </p> </body> </html> </code> Hello all! Does anybody noticed that font colors are treated as background color while printing in IE? I just set a <font color=#f0f0f0>MY TEST</font> or <span style="color: #f0f0f0">MY TEST</span> and, on screen, it's OK. On print preview, it goes black. I can print in grayscale only if I turn "print background images and colors" on. Does anybody has a workaround on it? It will be a watermark, so it should be printed in grayscale. I dont think I'm setting a background color, specially on first example (color of the font). Thanks! I have a social network. I want my users to be able to pic colors for certain things... I'd really like to use the GUI that twitter has for this, but that could be expensive... So how do I do it? And how do i get smilies to input text into a text box like this one... Dynamic pages are going to be hard i think Well, it seemes like it all messes up right now... And I'm going crazy. Take a look at this example page: http://www.stianbl.co.cc/Test2/teknisk_TEST1.html Here, everything should work, since the code is the same I used for this page: http://www.stianbl.co.cc/Test2/teamet.html The problem is: 1. I cant get the hover effect to work on the 3 "pages", or fact-sheets, that should be clickable to dll the .doc file. But its the same way I did on the site "teamet", and it works there. 2.I cant position the header anymore. As it is now, opera reads it as I want it (the header, and navigation part), but IE hides it... Any help would be much appreaciated! I'm having a really bizarre problem on my site here http://www.onlykitchens-almunecar.co...signvisit.html On this particular page I have a form that is working fine in firefox but the page won't load in IE only from today and I don't think I have changed anything The form is working fine in firefox and posting ok and returning errors as i am using this form validation script Code: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> <!-- /*********************************************** * Required field(s) validation v1.10- By NavSurf * Visit Nav Surf at http://navsurf.com * Visit http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for full source code ***********************************************/ function formCheck(formobj){ // Enter name of mandatory fields var fieldRequired = Array("Name", "Surname", "Address", "Town", "Province", "Post Code", "Telephone", "Email", "Selection", "Details"); // Enter field description to appear in the dialog box var fieldDescription = Array("Name", "Surname", "Address", "Town", "Province", "Post Code", "Telephone", "Email", "Selection", "Details"); // dialog message var alertMsg = "Please complete the following fields:\n"; var l_Msg = alertMsg.length; for (var i = 0; i < fieldRequired.length; i++){ var obj = formobj.elements[fieldRequired[i]]; if (obj){ switch(obj.type){ case "select-one": if (obj.selectedIndex == -1 || obj.options[obj.selectedIndex].text == ""){ alertMsg += " - " + fieldDescription[i] + "\n"; } break; case "select-multiple": if (obj.selectedIndex == -1){ alertMsg += " - " + fieldDescription[i] + "\n"; } break; case "text": case "textarea": if (obj.value == "" || obj.value == null){ alertMsg += " - " + fieldDescription[i] + "\n"; } break; default: } if (obj.type == undefined){ var blnchecked = false; for (var j = 0; j < obj.length; j++){ if (obj[j].checked){ blnchecked = true; } } if (!blnchecked){ alertMsg += " - " + fieldDescription[i] + "\n"; } } } } if (alertMsg.length == l_Msg){ return true; }else{ alert(alertMsg); return false; } } // --> </script> The weird thing is if i take this code out it loads in IE and when I put it back in it don't. Its been working fine in IE with it in up until today. I need this validation script, and as i said its been working in IE for weeks with it in in. So I suppose what I am trying to get to the bottom of is why it is working in firefox but not in IE? If anyone could help i'd greatly appreciate it! I designed a site using HTML and CSS. The site works fine on all browsers except on the client's pc. He has IE 7. When I try it on my computer using the same browser IE7 it works fine. I told him to try the site on FFox and it worked ok. He wants the site to run on his pc using IE. I tried asking him to clear all cookies... doenst work. Any ideas want can be the problem? THANKS! I'd like to preface this with a note that, although I'm a programmer, my web technologies knowledge is pretty much non-existent, so I hope I'm just doing something silly here. I am setting up photo galleries on my and my wife's web sites using a flash based photo gallery called FotoPlayer. This program has a "Site Creator" function that allows a header, footer, some basic extra pages to be added to it. I started by creating a simple header that consists of 3 png files. This is added in a file called header.inc, and is used by FotoPlayer to create the pages. Code: <div style="height: 60px;"> <a href="index.html"><img src="site/images/roz-title.png" alt="Home" align="left" border="0"></a> <a href="album.html"><img src="site/images/roz-cyrene.png" alt="Cyrene Gallery" align="right" border="0"></a> </div> <br> <div style="width: 100%;"> <img src="site/images/roz-bar.png" alt="Gradient" border="0" height="4" width="100%"> </div> This looks as I expect in FireFox and Chrome, but has several problems when viewed with IE6. The left and right pictures have the "not found" images and text over them, and the gradient bar does not stretch. The other problem I'm having is some extra scroll bars being added (again, only in IE6) when the page length is longer that the browser display height. If I disable running of scripts in IE6 these problems disappear so I assume this is caused by FotoPlayer not liking my simple code. However, I have looked at about 20 other sites (some way more complicated than mine) created with FotoPlayer and they all look good in IE6, so this leads me to suspect that I am at fault here. I posted this to the FotoPlayer Forum a couple of days ago, but there has not been any answers. I'm hoping someone here can take a quick look at the page and tell me what I might be doing wrong. This is the test page: http://roz-warren.net -Mike I have two sections of my school website, one for study, one for plans. I have indexes for each, and links in the indexes that go to "journals." Sadly, for some reason, the plans one is working find, when I click on a link in the index it stays in the same category and then goes down, but the study one goes to my homepage. I'll try doing a diagram to help you guys out The arrows represent a link I can click on: (I took out the http b/c this site made the links shorter with ... and you wouldn't be able to see what I'm about to point out) Plans Section http://linus.yhspatriot.net/cs/at/st...Cai/2006/Plans --> http://linus.yhspatriot.net/cs/at/st...lan.html#Intro Study Section (Doesn't work) http://linus.yhspatriot.net/cs/at/st...Cai/2006/Study --> http://linus.yhspatriot.net/cs/at/st...-11.html#12-11 Notice the problem is that in the first one, it stays in plans, but in the second one, it actually leaves Study, and goes to Folsom_Cai. Here's the code for the plans index: HTML Code: <ol> <li> 1st Quarter Plan (finished)</li> <ul> <li><a href="1stQuarterPlan.html#Intro">Introduction</a></li> </ul> </ol> Here's the code for the Study index: HTML Code: <li>Week of 12-11 <ul> <li><a href="12-11.html#12-11">Thinking about the Classroom Code</a></li> </ul> </li> Here's where I define the name <a name=""> so it will go to a certain part of the page Plans: HTML Code: <p><a name="Intro"></a></p> Study: HTML Code: <h3><a name="12-11"><span>12-11</span></a></h3> thanx for any help, feel free to ask a question - i'll respond in this forum hi, I have a css popup window (a lightbox) for videos, opened by javascript. If I want to close it, I've to select the white overlay on the background. On Windows, everything works very well in Firefox, IE and Safari. On Mac, I can't use the flash player controls because when I click on it, the video is closed (I guess because the overlay is selected even if it is behind the video). Isn't strange ? thanks Now this is a strange one. If you visit my site via http://amatoc.com and then you visit it with http://www.amatoc.com You will notice that the site with www added is smaller than the one without! (Occurs using firefox) Anyone have an explanation for this? Hi, I'm trying to make some changes to the basic design of my site, but when I add Adsense it's doing something strange. In IE7 it's fine, but in FF it displays with incorrect colors and the size is chopped from 468x60 to about 230x60. I can't explain it, because on the other pages I've made the changes everything is fine. ***************************************** Problem seems corrected now. Have no idea how it persisted for 36hrs, but it's fine now (shaking head). ***************************************** Thanks, Dave H I am working on a new site layout, and for some reason in IE6/IE7 if you go directly to the webpage I am working on, it doesn't load correctly (won't load my background gradient, and doesn't format the site properly) when I try to reload the page, I get the same problem. if I go to any site (with css, without css, etc) and then go to my page it loads properly. the source code is the same when it loads properly and when it doesn't so I have absolutely no idea how to fix this problem. Regards, David King I have an iFrame on my website as the main navigation. You click a text link on the left and the iFrame changes. BUT... when I click on a link on the left, the iFrame refreshes and goes to my homepage when it shouldn't. The pages are already made and the html looks ok. Anybody got ideas why this is happening? There are 2 strange things on my webpage. Their at the bottom of the page (com) and (ed) I dont know how to get them off the page, i cant see them in the html code. http://www.amazinghealthalerts.com/ Can someone help me find them? This is driving me nuts!! Is anyone able to see the difference in the logo postion on these two pages: http://www.i3design.com/ Compared with this page: http://www.i3design.com/services/index5.html Ive tried this on two computers, and two browsers (Chrome and firefox). These pages are 9px out on every computer I try. Ive totally stripped out the footer, extra css, javascript etc and it is STILL 9px out. |
