HTML - Is There A Good Html Editing Software For Newbies

Newbie --
using KompoZer to prepare text & image pages for eBookGold publishing software.

1. No problem preparing pages. Copy and paste from Word doc. Clean up code as necessary. Simple formatting - no bells & whistles. Page width set at 580 pixels.

2. Each page viewed in IE7 is consistent with flush left margin and right margin consistent with 580 pixel width. Each page is tested for printing on 8.5x11 paper so pages can be numbered.

3. File is uploaded to eBook publishing software with default page view of 640x480. Software includes eBook viewer for computer use. Book generates successfully.

4. PROBLEM IS WITH VIEWING PAGES IN THE SOFTWARE READER. Some are the same as IE7. Others spread from edge to edge of the computer screen which, in some cases, affects the image and text placement.

Why is there a difference between IE7 and software publisher view of same page?

Is there HTML code that can fix the problem?

If yes, what is it and how do I do it? specifics would be appreciated.

My employer and I are learning as we go -- any help is gratefully appreciated.

I'm editing a map and want to change the size of the box that appears when I mouse over an object. The code for the entire map is

To pick one specific example that I want to edit, I want the circle produced by
<area shape="circle" coords="141,151,16" href="#" onMouseOut="" onMouseOver="MM_swapImage('no_box','','img/css_label.gif',1)">
to produce a larger box (the css_label image gets compressed and make the words hard to read.) How do I increase the size of the css_label.gif so it is readable?

Hey people,

First post here and I hope you guys can help me.

I'm currently helping out a family friend's company with general IT stuff, wether it be designing things for them or website stuff. Now I am by no means an experienced web designer, hence why I came here.

They asked me today if I can make some changes to one of the sites they run, really simple ones at that. All I need to do is update some of the text on the site, change the dates etc. I have access to the ftp, using filezilla, and for the life of me I cannot find the html files I need to change.

Now I obviously don't expect you guys to tell me where they are, but is there a method you would use to track them down? Right now there seems to be a ridiculous amount a folders and files for what seems to be a relatively simple site!

Hi, Found these forums on google whilst searching for the answer to my question.

I currently have a site with 320+ pages and have recently come to a point where I need to change a section of code which is identical on every page, does anyone know of an editor or program where it is possible to edit this section of code on all of the pages at once or am I going to have to edit each page one by one?

Ive used a meta tag editor which has a similar function to what I require but im yet to find a HTML editor which can do this.

I would like to make changes on my exisitng webform on my site,it will involve in downloading files and unloading it back to webserver after it had edited.However,I don't how to carry out this task in order to get it done over my computer.

Please kindly advice the following :

1 ) Do I need to run any software for downloading the webform code ?

2 ) Which files to download for editing of my existing webform ?

3 ) I want to do backup,which ones to backup ? It is for the purpose of getting back my original site if something goes wrong after the editing task failed.

4 ) How to carry out the testing after the replacement of new html code ?

Once the web page, still under construction, has taken shape and is going through font styling etc, is it normal just to open the html in IE and change the contents from View/Source or should I always edit the file in Notepad and then save back to html?

I really want to revamp my theme that I use on my Tumblr blog and I figured you'd be the ones to help. I'm computer literate, both Mac and PC, but I know nothing of coding. I ashamed to say this, but nevertheless I'm willing to learn a little if any of you will hold my hand through some changes I'd like to make to my Tumblr theme. Here's a link to my Tumblr page. As you can see, it's a default theme. The list of things I'd like to do is a little jagged, but I really want all my pictures to have a limit to their size and how much space they can take up. Also, I'd to know how to remove the visual tags on the left hand side. As if that's not enough adding a display of how may "notes" (for those who are tumblr literate) my posts have. Font too. How do I even begin changing these things? There are no options in the simple customize pane displayed at the top. But, I can edit the HTML... so what do I do? I'm a noob here and I'm at my wits end. The real problem here is that I know just enough to get myself into trouble, but no concept on how to dig myself out of it. The website I'm working on is he

My problem is that it looks OK in Explorer, but looks like a trainwreck in Firefox. It was designed by retrofitting a template I bought years ago, so it's like trying to decipher the amatuer translation of a Russian mad scientist's codex. I apologize in advance.

I've been moving DIV's back and forth for days and Explorer doesn't seem to care. Things just keep getting worse and worse in Firefox.

I think the main issue is that I have a left column and then the header that spans the middle and right columns. I can see how Firefox might hate that...

The next problem (and I'm hoping someone might have an idea on this): I used a modern header calling this whole mess XHTML. I know exactly squat about the differences between HTML and XHTML except that XHTML loves to have everything "/>"ed.

Would all of this work if the header called it transitional HTML and give myself a little leeway? What code should be at the top of my page?

I m wondering which hmtl editors everyone here prefers. I have downloaded HTML-Kit & Page Breeze but I am not the sharpest tool & I end up getting frustrated as I need a more user friendly editor. Something for the ADHD adult I really won't be using advanced things like media for now, only basic HTML & CSS. What I am trying to accomplish is to get a website done without media or movable images.

Also, someone told me that there are some editors which come with ready made commands, for e.g maybe such as creating a table by just clicking anywhere. Of course, I will have to specify other things.

Are there any editors which automate a lot of your work & save time?
