HTML - My Search Field Keeps Jumping Around Page..wtf?

I have a quirky problem, and it exists with many of my sites. It involves Firefox browser, as well as Chrome.

Here are the conditions of the website pages that have problems:

1. Page is fixed width, centered in the browser
2. Google AdSense is present on the page
3. Browser is either Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer doesn't present any problems.

When the page with the above conditions is loaded, the page shows up at the RIGHT of the browser, then shifts to it's proper location in the center of the browser. This occurs every time a page with adsense is loaded, and can be irritating going page to page.

Please use Firefox browser, maximized on a monitor with a greater width than 1024.

There are five working tabs with examples, four of them have adsense on them. The one without adsense does NOT jump, and I'd like all the pages to emulate it.

I"d appreciate any direction to solving the problem. Firefox and Chrome are rapidly increasing in popularity, and I'd like to solve this rather quirky problem.

Hello everyone,

In my company we have a server to which everyone is connected. Since we use a large panel of legal texts, someone compiled them and listed them in a word doc with hyperlinks that lead to PDFs. He then saved the doc as HTML and put the entire 'database' into a folder located on the server. The html doc appears in Firefox on each PC of ours as a link and since we all have access to the common server it is like a local website. Quite simple and easy to use.

I would like to add a search field to the document that would enable us to search directly in the folder that includes all the pdfs and inside those documents.

Since I know very little in html I am not even sure if it is possible. Great thanks for your help!

For example, this scenario:

1. My page contains the text "giraffes in corduroys"
2. somebody googles that text - either as a phrase or just the words
3. google points them to my page
4. the user clicks to go to my page...

Is there any way to determine that it was the text "giraffes in corduroys" which brought them to my page?

Would the crux be getting the previous URL in the browser history?

Have a question regarding searching on a page. Basically I have a tabbed content section for our intrasite - Currently, our setup is a knowledge base derived from Lotus Notes - We are moving out of that and I'm making an HTML driven database - My boss won't approve MySQL, he want's to use access, but we aren't at that point yet.

What we are shooting for is for our employees to be able to hit CTRL-F and type in a string of data (within the tabs) and have it open the tab (shift if necessary) and highlight the string listed.

Currently I have the following files created - but I'm not sure how to make it searchable. Is this possible? or is there another way of going about doing this? Thanks!

I am using the following code to jump to a specific line of text when a link is clicked:

My question is this, is it possible to link to a specific line or piece of text on another page, as the above example only works on the same page.

I with the # it always want to jump to top of page. I know there is code that will prevent this, but i forgot what it is?

I've been running an ad on my site using the Google Double Click program since March with no problems.

Suddenly this week, despite not even logging into Doubleclick or making any changes to the code on any of my pages, one of my larger ads is jumping outside of the space allotted for it and into my text. To make it even stranger, it will only do this periodically. IOW, sometimes the ads are being served correctly, but sometimes they get messed up.

Continue to hit refresh as my ads cycle until my large green/yellow square ad to the top left of the center column for "The Raw Food Lifestyle Ebook," appears.

Keep hitting refresh over and over again. It might take a dozen times or more. I've seen this happen in firefox and Safari. I've cleared my cache.

You'll see that sometimes it appears within its normal area, but sometimes it "jumps" out and partially covers the text to the right of it.

Since I haven't done anything to my site or my doubleclick settings , I don't know what to make of this.

I've already sought help on the Doubleclick forum, but the consensus there seems tobe that it is not a DC issue, but an HTML issue. You can see lengthy discussion about it here.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

I want a Form that searches google on my home page. Not a hyperlink to google but a text area and then maybe a dropdown menu for Google, Yahoo, Google Images, Alltheweb.

I have a library of catalogs from many manufacturers. I incorporated this list into an excel file with location such as a card catalog. Then I saved this file as an html file.

For now i use ctrl f to find things withing this page. Is there a way to create a search bar to find keywords. Canh this be done in html or better to create with javascript?

Hi. I have a problem I cant seem to fix. On my page i have a javascript dropdown menu which i dont want search engines to read because it is very big. It consists of 434 links.
Is there a way for me to exclude it from search engines?

Hey there, We have a webpage up for car parts that we offer. Our hosting services allows us just to login under there control panel and type up hte informaiton we want, such as Price, Item Description and so on. What we are looking for is a way to allow our customers to search parts by there Make, Model and Year. Is there a way to do this? If there is, is there some tutorials out there on how to instruct a novice user on how to do this? Here is an example: http://ultrarev.com/home.php?cat=0, it is the top bar on the right. Users can input there Make, Model and year and search for parts for the vehicle.

Hey, I embedded a google search box on my website, and I can't figure out how to make it so that when you search for something, the results show up on my page and not leave my site.

I just want like a window below the search box in MY site. Any ideas on how to do that?
