HTML - Url Of A Page Displayed In A Frame Whilst Still Showing The Original Frameset

the page is displayed well in IE6, IE7, firfox 3, but not in firefox 2
no matter wht is the height of the page it only shows part of it (about 800px height)
how can i solve that????? (i'm working locally)

Hi there I'm trying to make a website for a friend - http://wwwdev.cfpaddler.co.uk.

At the top of the site is a 1x40 pixel (WxH) GIF - a horizontal gradient - that is told to have a width of 100% so that it takes up the entire width of the browser window, regardless of resolution.

I want to put a 250-pixel-wide JPEG immediately to the left of this GIF and then make the GIF take up the rest of the space available. I tried setting the GIF width to 100% again but it puts the JPEG on the top line and then stretches the GIF across the entire window just beneath it.

I'd be happy to use PHP (although I'm a beginner at it) to maybe detect the user's browser window width (if it's possible?) then perform a calculation to find what 100% width minus 250 pixels is...

Any suggestions are very much appreciated; thanks for taking the time to read this.

Quite some time ago I was faced with putting a website together for the first time for a local community group (my wife nominated me!). Rather than tell you all what it contains and how it looks, it is probably easier for me to give you the link which is the Friends of Clifton Park based in South Yorkshire, UK.

This website consists of eight html pages. The first is the index, second is the welcome page and the rest are linked pages via links on the left.

On every of the "linked" pages, only the main body changes, with the exception of each link showing in Caps and link disabled.

The problem I'm having is that every single one of the linked html pages are the same, except the displayed text. 90% is the page set-up.

So my question is: Is it possible to "import" the required text information when a link is clicked on straight into the main body of ONE html page? btw, you'll notice that the page height isn't fixed, it expands depending on amount of information in it.

I have tried IFRAME but don't really seem to be getting anywhere as I can't seem to make the height auto-adjust. A specified height value has to be entered for each "page". This is no good as more information will be needed to be put on.

So basically what I am trying to do is:
Keep the index.html Change the welcome.html to display the main page (graphics/images, etc) Import text into main body into the welcome.html page when a link is clicked on.
Thus reducing the need of duplicate html pages and just having text files containing the main body text.

The main reason for wanting to do this is a) stop all the duplication of page set-up in each html file, and b) make it easier for the guy that wants to add information where needed, straight into notepad (txt file) and upload it to the website.

I hope all the above makes sense and if anyone requires further information, I will only be to happy to provide it!

Glad I found this website. I'm a novice at html. I've been reading through some unrelated posts and learned a few new things already!

I am helping someone build her website (learning along the way) and ran into a display problem in Mozilla that did not with I.E. After spending many hours helping my friend with a website and learning along the way, to my horror, I find that one of the frames do not display with Mozilla. I tried looking online to solve the problem but can't find anything with the same error. I'm hoping someone can help me ... please :-)

As you can see, the left frame does not display in Mozilla, but does in I.E. I suspect it's a compatibility issue but am not sure.

Then I poked around in the Mozilla browser's Tool | Error Console and it gave me an error "document.layers is undefined" ... I have no idea what this means.

I really don't want to start from scratch as I've already invested so much time into what I already did. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I've been working on a website and I recently decided to change it around. I accidently deleted a target I need and I can't seem to find anywhere online. I want to be able to open a new page and have it displayed on the same page in a frame. to view my current site go he http://www.geocities.com/pintpunker/CRPB/frame.htm You can see the contents on the left and I want the pages to open on the right. What's the target? I'm dyin' here! Lol.

I have a form with data (check boxes) in main page.

second page point to 3 frames.

data from main page should be displayed in one frame of the second page.

Is this possible? and how? I am using php.

I'm setting up an online scheduling calendar, but for people to set appointments they have to click a link that takes them out of my site. Is it possible to frame in the other site so they stay on my page?

I have a table on my website that doesn't quite fit horizontally, so I want a scrollbar for the user to scroll across.

Is this an i-frame?

if i have a frameset with two frames (frame1 and frame2). would there be any html or javascript code that would be able to take the url from frame2 (which has a url that is variable and i have no control over) and display it or return it as a variable on frame1? thanks

I've inherited a very old site that runs in a frameset. We're getting ready to rebuild it (sans frames) but in the meantime I still need to maintain it.

The need has come up recently for an information page that will be linked to from within a Flash tutorial. The problem is that when the link goes directly to the page, it doesn't surround it with the frame and so there is no navigation or any way of finding your way back into the site.

It's been many, many years since I've worked with frames, so I'm hoping someone can tell me if there's a trick to linking to the base frameset and then loading a specific page into one of the frames.

I have a background image with blank sections where I want to put stuff in to, and in one of the sections I want to put a frame or a table so I can have a list of links which you can scroll through, but I don't know how to put it anywhere I want on the page.

Hi, I'm kind of new to HTML and I've been trying to make a website that has 3 frames in it. One frame extends across the entire top of the page and has about a 100 pixel height. The second frame extends the entire length of the page, but only has a width of about 200 pixels. Which leaves the rest for the thrid frame. I'm doing this so that frames one and two don't change and all of the content changes in the third frame.

I'm running into an issue, because I cannot figure out how to get one frame extend across the top and one fram extend the length of the page. I can do one or the other but not both. is there any way that I can configure the columns and rows so that the page takes on this look?

I'm very new to HTML, but I can't figure out why the content area of my page is overlapping with my top frame.

It's most obvious just to the right of the right angle formed by the place where the top and left frames each other. The website www.fourseasonssunrooms.ca.

Any ideas as to how to move the content area down so this overlap does not occur??

I have divided a html page in two frames.one is header another is the main page.
In main frame there is login form, when i am submitting form it calls the next page in the same frame by default and address in the address bar is not changing because page in the address bar is not changing only main frame is changing.
I want that when i submit the form, page containing the header and main frame get vanished and next page should be called without these frames.

I'm really stuck on this one. So, I'm on a page, let's call it index1 and I need to open index2 with index3 displayed in a frame on index2 (All from just clicking one link). The problem is on index1 there are many links that will all take us to index2, but with different pages (index4, index5 etc.) needing to be displayed in the frame on index2. How can I achieve this?
