HTML - > Need To Create New Home/landing Page Without Renaming All Index.htm Links
I think there is a simple fix for this...but I can't think of it.
My client has an existing site (not very well designed and no templates) with hundreds of static pages. She wants me to create a new home (index.htm) page that is just a simple landing page where people can choose to enter her website OR visit the store to purchase products. Simple enough...but, now all of the 100's of static pages have the link Home=index.htm on them. I want people to type in the URL: www.mysite.com (for example) and land on the new page to choose to go to the site to learn about her and her music OR go to the store to shop. Once they are in the site, however, and hit the home link, I don't want them to go 'all the way back out' to the new landing page. I want them to go back to the 'old' index.htm page (or her current home page), without having to change the index.htm links on those 100's of pages. Is there an easy fix for this, using a naming convention for the home page? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a bit stumped on this one. Similar TutorialsHi, This is my site: http://www.theticketsguide.com I want to know how to add text, buttons, images, etc to my home page header without adding it to my header on all other pages of my site. So, something similar to this: http://www.coveractionpro.com I'm using Wordpress's Thesis theme. Thank you very much, Brandon I am using <a href> classes in a css to change the colors of different types of links in my document. The default a:link is white. I defined another class a.bottomlink:link that is blue. If I use the bottomlink class with a link to a website that looks like this "http://website/subname/" I get a white link. If I use it with a link to a website that looks like "http://website/subname/pagename.asp" I get a blue link. I don't know the pagenames for all the websites I link to. Why is this happening? What can I do? Thanks. I'm not sure what to call it, so I'll call it an index. I want the top of my page to have the links A B C D E F G .... and so on, and I want those to link to other letters further down on the page. I'm making a directory for music reviews I have done. So basically, if you click on 'G' you will be scrolled down to the index of bands with names starting with G. How is this done? not sure if i need a js for this but I have a web page using page jump links to navigate a FAQ page. However, I would rather have a drop down menu/form with the links instead of a list of text links. Anybody have a clue? thanks in advance. This is what I have so far as an example... <form name="jump"><select id="select" name="select"> <option value="" selected="selected">Select</option> <option value="#1">Category 1</option> </select></form> <a id="1" name="1"></a> Category 1 I've came up with a project idea for my company. I'm sending an email to my boss with a link to a landing page thats goes into the details of my idea, but I want to make sure he can't forward it. Is there a way to disable the link once an email is forwarded We use HTML for our emails. Thanks in advance for everyone's time and patience. See attached file I get this error in IE when my page has passed W3C CSS and XHTML and HTML tidy can anyone help rectify it!? I have basic html knowledge. I browsed html tutorials but don't seem to find a solution. Any ideas? Thank you. Hello again htmlforums and members, It has been 6 months since i uploaded phpbb3 to my domain as just a forum and still i want to remain a forum but i need a landing_page. I have finished the html and css in dreamweaver now i just need to be pointed the right way on where to upload my page and how to make it my domains first page or "squeez_page" thanks in advance... -tikki- Hey, Just having a few problems with a few of my landing pages and was wondering if anyone knows how to fix them or can help me find a link with the solutions. 1. How do I make the landing pages work in all browsers. For example, my pages work in firefox perfectly but as soon as you open them in chrome they are off by about 2px (this includes all images, tables, etc). If I open it in IE, the page is all over the place (for example the table is at bottom instead of top). Is there a code to fix this or do I have to create a css file for each. If so, what type of code is needed to tell the page to read the css file that is needed depending on which brower is used by the user. 2. I have two landing pages and want to use both to determine which one is better by the amount of people that view it. To determine this I want to have one page open when the user clicks the link and then the next time a user clicks the link the second landing page will open. Basically I want each of the two pages to open up 50 percent of the time. How do I do this. Thanks Hi, I have a general question. I need a single landing page for 2 different domains. I know, it's a long story. Is there a better or even best way to set this up? Right now, I've simply copied the landing page and uploaded it to both sites where it splits into an "Enter Here" for one site, and an "Enter Here" for the other site. When done, the plan is to NOT point both domains to the same index page but keep them totally separate. I just would like to know if this is the right way to go about it and if not, what would be the best way? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. I've got a form on our contact us page where people can send us emails directly through our website. I want to set it up so when a person hits send, they are redirected to a landing page where it says something like, We have received your message, blah blah blah..... How do I do this? Hi i work for a web design company and im new to dreamweaver and html My client needs me to create a main landing page for his site and it will say click here to enter and when i click here to enter it will require a user name and password to get into the site, how do i do that? Hello, My website is www.fashionfreakers.com, I currently have up a title page prior to my main index. My question is: any way that I can make it so that my index is my main page without having to go thru my site and rename all the pages? Anyway I can make the first page that pops up on my site www.fashionfreakers.com/hiphop_music.html? (instead of fashionfreakers.com/home) Thanks for your help, JJ www.fashionfreakers.com where the celebs shop and party ! I am sure it is something simple that I am missing but for some reason when I open my webpage the home page does not come up one of my other pages does. Here is the website, www.facesoflife.org Any suggestions would be appreciated. So, I am a noobie. Started reading up on HTML stuff today. I coded a bit back in HS which was like 8 years ago, but it was mostly C++. I bought a website using fatcow.com. I am trying to just set up my home page right now. I want a header with a picture. I want navigation along the left side. I don't even know what kind of tabs I have but for example I have, say... Poker, Investing, Music. When somebody clicks on one of these, I hope it will redirect to the proper page, but if somebody highlights over it, a new set of tabs comes up, so like say I scroll over music, I want another smaller menu to pop up and show more links to music, like concerts, genre, local shows. Please note these categories are arbitrary for now. My question is where do I start? I don't know how to make these "tabs." I downloaded Arachnophilia 5.4, not quite sure how to use it, but I assume I code it there and load it onto my website. Any help is appreciated. and its VERY URGENT! Just kidding... I'm new to html and java script, so i don't know how to do this.
