HTML - Dynamic Ranking List Of Entries
Bear with me while I attempt to explain something I'd like to create. Note that I have previous HTML knowledge, but have not used this knowledge in a handful of years. I'm not sure how things are done these days.
I'd like to create a very simple list of entries which are ranked according to a score. This list would also contain an entry function which would allow me to make additional entries - entries which are automatically sorted and ranked into the current listing. If possible, I would like to gather these scores from Metacritic.com. This way, all scores for all entries in the list are always up to date as well as automatically retrieved for new entries. I am specifically aiming for simplicity here. Will I need something beyond HTML? Should I be looking into PHP? I am not very familiar with PHP coding. How should I get started? Any and all suggestions and/or help would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Similar TutorialsI have 3 radio buttons in my web page and nothing else initially. Say A,B and C. If i choose Radio button A, i should get a drop down menu in the same page. After that if i choose radio button B, the drop down menu corresponding to Radio button A should disappear and drop down corresponding to B should appear. Similarily for radio button C also. All these should happen on the same page. Is this possible with HTML or should i go for some other scripts like java scripts, or JSP etc can anyone help me out with this? Hello, I am very new to these forums, so I apologize if this question is either in the wrong location, or impossible to accomplish. I am very new to HTML editing. While I have got the basics down, I have been tasked with creating a website for one of my friend's business. I have been "attempting" to finish this task, but I seem to come across a road block. What I would like to do is create a form with several checkboxes. Each checkbox would be assigned a numeric value. Below the form field, data that is displayed would change based on the combined values of the checkboxes. I will try to clarify. For example. Say you have 6 checkboxes. The number in parenthesis is the value. [ ] (1) [ ] (2) [ ] (1) [ ] (4) [ ] (3) [ ] (7) Now say that two of the boxes are checked. [ ] (1) [ ] (2) [x] (1) [ ] (4) [x] (3) [ ] (7) Their total value is four [(1) and (3)]. Now what would be displayed, in either an iFrame, or on the page itself if it is possible, would be dependent on the total value, say 0<=4 would be one set of information; 5<=8 would be another; 9+ a third set. Also, this form would have to update on every click. No submit button. I believe you can understand my dilemma. I have been searching the web for an answer to both of these problems, both together and separate. Please, anything will be helpful and appreciated, even if not an answer, a point in the right direction. Thanks. Hi: I hope someone out there can help me. My son and daughter created a website for me and now I have taken it over. I have been desperately trying to figure out why it doesn't come up in the search engines. Yesterday while working on the website, I decided to try a page rank checker and received the following message: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING in /home/rankthi1/public_html/tools/nusoap.php on line 2264 As far as I can tell, there isn't a line 2264 (I counted them). I'm unfamiliar with php. Any guidance, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Vicki Hi all , i am a newbie to HTML. I wanted to know how to validate the keys entered in a text field. I started with code something like <div align="center"> <ul type="disc"> <li>Wine</li> <li>Women</li> <li>Song</li> </ul> </div> This centers the list on the page, but it also centers each list item. I tried placing a <div align="left"> around the list items, individually and collectively, but depending on the positioning it either had no effect or it nullified the center attribute completely and gave me a left-aligned list on the left edge of the page. Attempts to change the style of the <li> tag, which I haven't done in months and was never all that good at, failed. I know I can do this in ten seconds by putting the list inside a one-cell table, and with much fiddling I could probably do it with a spacer GIF...but what's the 1.0 Strict way? im wondering if any1 can help me figure out how i can keep my domain name and link it to my Apache Home Server with a Dyanmic IP i have tried no-ip.com but i dont like having sitename.no-ip.com i want sitename.com does any1 know a way to do this?? I also want to be able to make my website more interactive in this way: when I click on one table cell, another cell appears below, which can then be clicked on. Is there a way to do this with CSS and/or HTML, or will I have to resort to Flash? Well, I think that's what it would be considered. Anyways, I have a simple project where I'm making a website that has a drop down menu with a list of items. I also have a table which will define the items. What i want to know is how to change the text in one of the table boxes when a new item in the drop down menu is selected. This is the code i have so far... Code: <html> <head> <title> My Definitions </title> </head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var define= new array() define["Unicode"] = "unicoded" define["Hexadecimal"] = "hex" define["Binary"] = "bin" define["Compiler"] = "compil" define["Interpreter"] = "inter" define["Topology"] = "top" define["Server"] = "ser" define["Overflow Error"] = "of" define["Phishing"] = "phish" define["Network"] = "net" function definition(def) { } </script> Select a definition from the list: <select id="list"> <option>Unicode</option> <option>Hexadecimal</option> <option>Binary</option> </select> <br> <br> <table border="1" width="100" cellpadding="5"> <th>Definition:</th> <th>Pictu </th> <tr><td>two</td> <td>one</td></tr> </table> </body> </html> any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea where to post this question. I want to create a calculator for my website, similar in function to an excel spreadsheet although it doesn't have to look like one. Anyone have any idea how I can go about doing this? Hi, Is there anyway to script in such a way that if i never enter a specify to a cell, and give it 100% instead, my cell below will go all the way to the bottom by putting my whole table as 100% too? |--------------------------| | | | 100% | | | |--------------------------| | 50px | | | |--------------------------| something like that. well, it actually work in firefox and not IE, and i cant solve the problem. Thanks in advance. I need dynamic iframe and i found that I have found your script: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...iframessi2.htm but this doesn't exactly work in IE6 what to do solve this problem? Hello, I am using a loop to dynamically generate buttons using the <button> tag. The value for this button is populated using a variable. When I click on one of these buttons, I want the content of the button to be displayed on the text field. But, because it is in a loop and the because the value is a variable only the value of the 1st button comes in and then disappears from the text field. The javascript I am trying out to populate the text field is : function passButtonValue() { poitem= document.getElementById("poitem"); hiddenField = document.getElementById("hiddenField"); hiddenField.value = poitem.innerHTML; } I am using ABAP for getting the values and running the loop How can I reprogram it to overcome this problem? Thanks! My apologies if this is in the wrong area, i have searched forum and could not find what i'm needing/doing wrong. I have a website that was in cold fusion, i am changing it to html/css. So i sliced it up and everything is good except the area i need to be dynamic for wordpress. Only half is stretching. The part where i want widgets to go is not stretching with rest. Sorry if my code is a mess, i'm just learning. Thanks for any advise or directions.
