HTML - Force Entry Through Main Page
Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to restrict users (guests) from browsing straight to a page within my site. I would like to ensure that all users must access the site via www.mysite.com Example: User- browses to www.mysite.com/pages/interestingpage.php (or .htm) I would prefer to force the "User" to click their manually via the links on my main page. I imagine some sort of session would be required for this. However I do not wish to require users to log in. I've heard that .htaccess or Apache's config file can be used but so far I have not been successful. I do have full access to the server/configuration. Hoping someone can assist. I am attempting to use google analytics on a website someone else developed. I am now in charge of updating this site but am having a problem finding the home page so I may add a google meta tag which would verify me as site owner. The site is at http://www.vandam.com However when I look at the directory on my ftp site and open the file labeled main.html, it looks nothing like the source code I see via the web. What is going on with this. Which file should I be looking for? I'm getting rid of my index.html file, and replacing it with a brand new index.php file. But I have a problem... I have a forum which has an index.php file... If I rename my websites index.php file to homepage.php, am I able to have that page load up when someone visits my website, or does it have to be named index.php? I have wordpress installed at mydomain.com/blog and I want a simple splash page to show up at mydomain.com. I've created the page in html and it works the way I want it to but I can't get it to show up at mydomain.com. When I go to mydomain.com it shows up as INDEX OF and I can click the splash page file but I want the domain to point straight to the splash file. Thanks for any help you can offer. I have a pdf file that is the catalog for my business. Is there a way to make it so that i can create a link that says "view" and if people click on it, then the standard "FILE DOWNLOAD" box does not come up... and it just opens the file in a separate window.... and have a "download" link where if they click that... then it just downloads the file. I know that i am weird... but i think it would be something that not everybody has... and something that would be kinda cool. Thanks in advance.... Cheers Tom HI Im making a site at the mo and im looking to keep the menu and a picture stay in the same position constantly. So when then user moves the scoll wheel only the text are will scroll. I dont want there to be any border or scroll bars around the text, so the only visable scroll bar will be the browsers... any ideas? Ok, This might be a bit confusing but ill try my best. On my main website homepage i have a splash image which when clicked redirects to the main website, also in another folder i have a phpbb3 Forum. Below the image on my homepage i have a login box for the forum as well. What i would like to do is to hide that login box unless a keyword is entered before hand, and make the domain.com/forum URL inaccessible unless you login through this route. basically hiding the forum completely so people dont actually know its there. I could do this through .htaccess however i was hoping there was a "cleaner" way to do this. Many Thanks Rob Alright, fairly basic question here, but I'm kicking myself over and over trying to figure out some fairly basic code. What I'm doing for a friend is helping code his gaming website so that his in-game buddies can update their stats on his page. I'm just about done with the simple database work, so they can create usernames/passwords etc, but the stats page is a bit of a problem. Basically, I want a form page only accessible once they've logged in, and they can then input their information onto the form, hit "Enter" (or some other button to that effect), and the site will update a different page with all of their stats which were input into the form. No idea where to start. Help if possible, thanks. Hi guys, Is there a way I can have a page of links sat in a directory which I can call from via other pages on the server? I think I'm thinking of something that can be done with PHP, but the idea is: On main page, for example, links: 1 2 3 All call to 'links.html' Which has a list of page URL's, each with their own ID. So the links on the main page call to the ID's, which extracts the link listed at that moment in time. So if I later want to change the link, I have only to change the link.html and not every related link on the site. I know I could maybe use inline frames, but the layout I have makes that not possible, and it's still not a great solution. I'm sure someone must know what I'm talking about. I was wondering if there was a script that I could use on the content pages that, when loaded outside the frame would redirect to the main site, with the appropriate page loaded in the iFrame. Thanks in advance! Craig J. Ward I have a website where some pages have no scrollbar, and some do. For pages with the scrollbar, it looks fine. Because that's expected. For pages without the scollbar, it bumps the divs to the right by ~15 pixels (because there is no more scrollbar). Is there some type of script, or a way to setup a DIV, to force a scrollbar? Even if there is no overflow of content for the page? As long as I can force a scrollbar on the page, it should be consistent. My IE is configured to automatically find the most rexent page, so when I address a website I see the current page. However, Safari and Firefox do not seem to have this optiion. So, when users address my website with those browsers they have to push the refresh button to be sure they are seeing my site's latest page. Yet when I use those browsers to access websites other than my own, I seem to get the latest page. This suggests that there may be a way to include in a page file a code that forces refresh. I know that there is a code ("no archive") that does the job where a search engine is involved, but how do I handle this problems where my URL is being directly addressed? I'm creating a webpage with multiple right-aligned images. Each chunk of text has an image associated with it to the right. I'm having a problem keeping these images stacked on top of each other. If the chunk of text isn't taller than the associated image, the next paragraph and associated image sits to the left of the first image. I want both of these to sit below the first image. Currently, I'm using <br> tags to push the next paragraph down, but I'd like to avoid that. I hope I'm being clear. Hi You would think if you did a basic DW rollover that it should work in IE Oh no!!!!!! Can anyone shed the light on this: Problem site Basically the language selection and the menus should have a change of colour, which is basically a rollover image made in dreamweaver. Menu seems to work here! This is the same menu code used to make the menu and a PC friend says that the rollover affect does work. i.e: There are peppers in the background of the words. Same code, two different affects. Any light? please??? Oh, both use PNG and both sites have the same IE PNG fix code. Did I state, its only IE that has the issue. Thanks in advance Long live Mac!!! What is a simple way of doing this?
