HTML - Cannot Import Images Or Css Files, Head Is Melted!
Hey All
I'm having some trouble with the most basic of things. I currently own some web space which supports upto 6 domain names. I'm already using one, we'll call it FIRST.com which works fine. During this week i purchased a new domain name lets say called SECOND.com. Using CPanel I was able to create an addon domain which automatically sets the root directory of the new domain to a folder called SECOND.com The problem I am having is that although if I type into my browser SECOND.com (and having set my .htaccess file) I get my index.html page with text, no images or CSS styles have been applied. Links to other pages work however, even if they are in sub directories. For some reason I just cannot link images or CSS files, yet if I type their path into the browser they are displayed, does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance Rev Similar TutorialsHelllo, may I ask something. I have the following poblem: Everything I talk about now is an offline and local file (even in the same folder) situation. If there are two JPEGs in a zip file next to the html file, is there an html-syntax that makes IE8 using the Win7 zip-engine, unzip and regularily "download" the two JPEGs into the normal "Temporary Internet Archives" folder (only to there, the unzipped JPEGs don't lie in the RAM or anwhere else on the HDD) and show them. In short: For a folder containing the html-file and a zip-file with the two pictures, is there soemthing like this: <HTML> <HEAD><TITLE>testing...</TITLE> <BODY> <TABLE BORDER="0" CELLPADDING="0" CELLSPACING="0"> <TR> <TD> <IMG SRC="Waikiki.jpg" ARCHIVE="Oahu.zip"> </TD> <TD> <IMG SRC="Honolulu_City.jpg" ARCHIVE="Oahu.zip"> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </BODY> </HTML> This "fantasy code" doesn't work of course. The ARCHIVE command is some JAR related solution as far as I have read. But is there anything like this that does work? Thank you very much for reading. anikk yo ppl i can get a head an everythin <head><title>thisisexamle</title></head but how do i get a samell img in ther like this site? the little light bulb thing thnx for ur time marcus Hey guys, im new here so I want to introduce myself. I run an ubuntu server from home and serve Thetuxhouse.com from it. I was just adding a favicon to it and ran into an obstacle. I've been using javascript for repeated stuff like the menu, and banner. The favicon links would also be repeated. I tried to use javascript in the same fashion for the favicons in http://thetuxhouse.com/js/head.js and it did not work. I need to make an external file for the links to the favicons that are currently making my header very bulky. Thanks alot. -Hartless I really hate to do this, but I am in need of some help. A few days ago I had a family reunion with one hundred or so attending, and somehow word got out that I was a Computer Engineering major. Now this is where it gets tricky, I was approached by a number of my distant relatives wanting me to build a website for our family reunion. They want something very simple so anyone of any age can use it, and they want to have some kind of registration where you can view everyone else who registered and post images of the family. However they don't want a forum because it is " Not elderly friendly". My knowledge of HTML is probably slightly higher than a beginner level, and this entire this has me flustered and stressed out. Does anyone have any tips on where to start for this? Ok I am not sure what I need to use to create my site. I want to have a box in the middle of the page, when it is clicked I would like other boxes to expand from it. Am I going to need flash for this? In a template I'm using I find the following head code. <style type="text/css"> /* <!-- */ Is the /*<--*/ necessary? Does it do anything? Can I remove it along with the ending tag /* --> */ , or is it required? I presume I need the <style type="text/css">, because I does use some style tags in the body. Thanks I have the following code in my <head> Code: <script src="scriptaculous/lib/prototype.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="scriptaculous/src/effects.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="fabtabulous.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="validation.js"></script> <title>AUDY</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="audy3.css"/> However only the java is loading, not the css. If I change the css link to an absolute link (http://.../audy3.css) then the css works but not the java. If I change the java links to absolute links it still doesn't work. What's going on? I am extremely new to Web design. I have found that it is very tricky to design sites that will look good regardless of which browser is being used and regardless of what browser settings have been tweaked. Following is my first attempt at a personal template. http://eversnug.com/holmeschiropract...es/frames.html There is a border segment just dangling to the bottom of the lower left corner that I don't know how to get rid of. Any help would be much appreciated. Basic question, but can anybody tell me how to load a new HTML page upon immediate load of a page. I am looking to have index.html immediately load a different home page. I'm trying to use onLoad, but can't seem to get it working. Thanks I am having issues with a myspace layout, I usually do my own, but my friends band had another guy do it. In the process he made a custom mast header and the music player is not showing up. I simply need text from several text files to appear in my div container. And what I don't want is to copy/paste whole text in html. I just want the text to be in separate files, not html. I heard I can do that with php, maybe there is a way to do that using html only? Is this possible using HTML? I am posting my stock portfolio online, and I want to have current prices of stocks. For example, I own McDonalds stock and I want to report the price of the stock from http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=mcd&ql=1 . Is this possible? Thanks in advanced! My Blog's URL: http://moviesamour.blogspot.com/ I just created this blog. I'm not sure if the feed isn't working due to the fact that I used a downloaded skin and the coding is off, or what, but it isn't validating when I try to link it to Facebook notes (or when I put it into feed validator, for that matter). I really don't know much about coding, so all help is appreciated! I am a retired Dos system programmer with a passing knowledge of html. Hello, I am trying to place my image map information on a separate html file and call it as you would call a stylesheet so I can change it across the entire site without doing it per page with something like: "<link href="global.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />" is this possible? thankyou I have some .tif files that I want to display on my web site but they don't show up. What are my options? Thanks... Hi all, not sure if this is posted in the correct place... please move if not...! I am after some information about how to build OFT (Files Outlook File Templates). I cant find any information about how to build/develop them. It may be pretty straight forward but need some guidance. Any help or pointers would be greatly accepted! Thanks all Hurley! hey... i didnt know what forum to post this in, so admins, do what you want with this thread... I've recently taken over the web designing for a company... the site is already made, and the previous designer has dropped out, and the company needs me to make updates, add articles, etc. There are .htaccess files in almost every directory and subdirectory throughout the site. When I go to add an image, and make a link to it on a page, the image is not found, even though the source is correct. ex - initially, the page links to an image at "images/image1.jpg" . I make an image2.jpg, place it in the right folder, and try to link to it - "images/image2.jpg" but the image cannot be displayed on the site (says it cannot be found - same as a 404). I am assuming this has to do with the htaccess permissions and all that stuff (also in each directory is a "_notes" subdirectory and another directory like that) but I'm not sure. I wikipedia'd htaccess files, and read that they were made for apache servers... the server hosting the site I am working on uses IIS... another confusing problem. Is there anyway to edit these .htaccess files so that I can add more images to the site? Also, why cant I see images these 'blocked' images? Is there any way to disable this blocking? guys i have a page with a link. when i click the link i want to print a file. assuming the file already exits.. say a doc file or something thanks guys your help would be mightily appreciated Hello, I need some help to get a HTML file to load from a PHP file.
