HTML - Page Wider Than Browser
Hello,
I'm trying to create a web page the old fashioned way - typing the code myself. However I'm having a problem: I can't make my page fit the browser window. The page is always a LITTLE BIT wider than the screen, creating a scroll bar across the bottom that's completely unnecessary. I'd appreciate help to eliminate this unnecessary sideways scroll bar. Similar TutorialsHi All, I need to have a wide (1984px) image centred on the screen. If the screen is only 1024px wide it always aligns left. I am probably missing something basic here but can anyone offer advice? Thankyou. Okay, I'm not exactly sure what these images are called, but in Opera, on most websites, there is a little image (usually the logo of the website), up to the left of the address bar. Is anyone able to explain how to get images there? Thank you. ______________________ Hi all, I'm a totally new user to HTML and CSS. I hope i could get some simple and clear advices from you guys. I create this website using manual positioning. Here's the link ---> www.danielgohdesign.com I would like my site to be in the center for all browser. What should i do? Thanks, Dan Im searching for codes what will disallow to view browser your page, i need opera, firefox, and internet explorer codes. Anyone know where i can find codes what will disallow them to view page? Thanks Hello, I want to open a html page in a same browser window with fullscreen mode. I tried following code: window.open("hello.html","_self","fullscreen,scrollbars") However if I use _self, I did not get page in fullscreen mode. Any help is really appreciated. Regards, John Hello; I am a graphic designer that codes pages quick and dirty entirely with tables. The one I am currently working on needs to be centered in all browser windows at all sizes. I understand that this shouldn't be hard, however everything that I have tried so far hasn't worked. My thoughts are that since it is built entirely in tables (with a java search tool) that I need to make a centered container and place the entire page inside of it. I have tried a few codes I've pulled from other forums with no luck temporary url (and I know the code is dirty) www.showcasepublishing.com/myoutandabout Thanks in advance Hi all, just came here to ask why is it that when I try to open my HTML file in Internet Explorer, which I created in note pad, it comes up with the code I typed it rather than displaying the actual page? Like for example I typed in this... <html> <head><title>Interspecies Conflict Videos</title></head> <body> <div align="center"> <img src="web logo.jpg" alt="Web Header" /> </div> </body> </html> And all I got was the code you see above you, there was no picture or anything. I have a terrible problem how to make this page resize whatever the resolution of the browser. I've already did liquid layout via percent but the height doesn't do it. They want the content to be scalable in whatever browser dimensions they want. Kindly help me. Thanks. Here is the html: Code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>Porter House New York</title> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="images/favicon.ico" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/main.css" /> <script src="js/jquery.js"></script> <script src="js/drop-down-menu.js"></script> <!--[if IE]> <script src="js/CreateHTML5Elements.js"></script> <![endif]--> <!--[if IE 6]> <script src="js/unitpngfix.js"></script> <![endif]--> </head> <body> <header> <a href="index.html"><img src="images/logo_porter_house_new_york.png" alt="Porter House New York" class="logo" title="Porter House New York" /></a> </header> <!-- end header --> <nav> <ul> <li><a href="#" class="about" title="about">about</a> <ul> <li><a href="#" title="The Restaurant">The Restaurant</a></li> <li><a href="#" title="The Chef">The Chef</a></li> <li><a href="#" title="The Owners">The Owners</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#" class="menus" title="menus">menus</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="press" title="press">press</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="photos" title="photos">photos</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="private" title="private dining">private dining</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="gift" title="gift certificates">gift certificates</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="contact" title="contact">contact</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="watch" title="contact">contact</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="reserve" title="contact">contact</a></li> </ul> </nav> <!-- end nav --> <div id="content"> <div id="contentTop"> </div> <!-- end contentTop --> <div id="side"></div> <!-- end side --> <div id="main"> </div> <!-- end main --> <div id="contentBottom"> </div> <!-- end contentBottom --> </div> <!-- end content --> <footer> <p>© Copyright 2007. I want my whole page with it's elements adapt to the browser window size and fit exactly to it ( I don't want to see that scrolling thing on the right or bottom ). You could just give me the link of the function/code I have to use. Here is my code if that helps. Code: <html> <title>AiiT</title> <body background="b.png" style="background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position:center center; width: 1024px;height:768px;"> <div style="background-image: url('1.png'); width:764px; height:557px; position: absolute; top: 12%; left: 50%; margin-left: -382px; text-align:center; "><div style="background-image: url('Tr.png'); background-repeat:no-repeat; position: relative; left:30px; top:30px;"><img src="Her.png" border="0" style="margin-top:10px;"><br><br> <a href="en/"><img src="an.png" border="0"></a> <a href="lt/"><img src="li.png" border="0"></a><br><br><img src="Logo.png" border=0"></div></div> </body> </html> Help appreciated. Hi im aware how to fit the width of a page so it fills the browser window but im curious on how to set the height of the page? the width works perfectly and just the height im stuck with hello, I'm an HTML novice who designed/maintains my own site without any expertise at all. One problem I can't seem to figure out: When the browser window is sized more narrowly than the content on the page, the table sections get shoved down underneath one another. Most sites I see don't do that -- when the browser window narrows, the site content stays in place. Any insight about what my error is? You can check out the problem at www.adamgwon.com. Thanks much. Hello, I am having a bit of a problem with a website I just started. I am currently on a resolution of 1280x1024 and I want it work for 1024x768. Well, I want it to work for any resolution, really. In fact, I noticed the problem exists when I go from maximizing the browser window to minimizing it. Here is what it looks like at 1280x1024 with the browser window maximized. Here is what it looks like at 1024x768 or when the browser window is less than maximized. See the problem? The two background images to either side of the banner image are lessening, as the resolution decreases or the browser window is decreases. Yet, the banner image remains unaffected. How can I make sure that the html is proportional to resolution, such that the background image on either side of the banner image remain unaffected in the manner in which they are currently? Thank you. What do you think I should be building my sites to? What do you use? 2. Also why do some sites work in all browsers? CSS hacks? Microsoft are no longer letting you download Internet Explorer for the Mac, from microsoft.com. Therefore all new mac users from February last year will not be using Explorer. Please help! Thankyou Tom Hey guys should I be worried about coding my site for the IE 5.x series or should I just concentrate on IE6 and IE7 does anyone know a browser that will only parse and evaluate valid HTML/XHTML based on what the doctype is and ignore invalid HTML/XHTML or generate errors. So if I had a XHTML doctype and my code was: Code: this is a XHTML document <br> this should be a new line I don't want the <br> to parse because I want something to trigger that is it not a valid XHTML tag since it is not closed. Any browser won't really care and just show the new line. I would have to validate it on the w3c website to find my error. So I want a browser that would give me these results based on my example code: Code: this is a XHTML documentthis should be a new line and then some sort of error saying "<br>" on line x is invalid. Hi, Background: I have a small page that need to be embeded into a bounch of other html pages. Help needed: 1. Please provide the html chunk that I can use to embed the small page in to other html pages. 2. Is there a way of not using iframe? Can I use <Object> or <embed>? How? --------------------------- mba colleges in london hospitality management diploma Hey guys, Just got up my new site, and3 other pages than the homepage, and was wondering if there was a quick and easy way to do a browser check? The site is www.scubatoo.net. I know ther are errors in Firefox, if anyone can speculate on those I would appreciate it. As well I don't think that earlier versions that 7.0 of IE work correct either. If there is a quick way to do this please let me know. Thanks, Ryan Hey guys, I was wondering how you check on older browsers such as IE 6, 5 and Netscape, etc. Is there a program that lets you use older browsers or do you just have old computers laying around. Hey all! I am currently working on my first web project...a Japanese city network using IDN's. I used IE6 for testing from the ground up, but this week downloaded IE7 (at last!) Of course there were obvious display issues! My question is (as a total noob) should I be looking to get the layout I want via '.em' code use, or do I need to add a section of IE7 hacks to my CSS sheet? To visit the site to see what I mean got to xn--u9j358k96enkbl89i.com (punycode) which translates as Japanese (roughly) for JapaneseCities.com. This site displays fine in IE6, but in IE7 is messed up. I need to learn how to implement code that will help my sites to display the best with the most popular browsers - but I don't know where to start! Please advise.. hi guys ... i m developing a static web-page using HTML . When i run the page in IE, it works well but it is not supported at the same time by Mozilla . So, where might be a bug in the script? |
