HTML - Noob Question About Positioning Div Tags
Hi all.
I'm designing a website and for the first time using div tags. The style is controlled by CSS. I'm trying to get 2 div tags to be positioned next to each other, side by side. How do I do this, I just can't get it to work. Thanks Similar TutorialsWhich is the better way to position the div tags? Should I use float or some fixed position? I could get two columns positioned with float left and right, but what about a third column? I hope u guys here around are professional and could be able to help me out with it. I want to know if I could hyperlink multi-areas on only one file. For example, I have an JPEG image which has couple of pictures on there, and would like to hyperlink each of the photos into different links. Hey guys, This is my first time here and I am VERY new to developing in HTML, CSS, JS etc. so please bear with me I am using W3Schools as my primary resource at the moment and have a question about the use of the class versus the ID attribute. On the W3Schools site it is stated that ID is intended for identifying a specific element and that the class attribute is intended to be used to identify multiple elements. But as you can simply apply the ID attribute (<div id="element1">) to ANY element, why have the two? Is the distinction between the two more about the fact that you can apply the class attribute to a particular tag type such as: p.blue {color: Blue;} Many thanks for your help with this. I'm taking up HTML editing as a class elective in college and find it very louring in it's creative aspects. I'm messing around with Tables currently and for the life of me i cannot get the table to align directly to the top of the page. There's like a 10px space on the top. I've tried the valign=top or valign=texttop and nothing will make it touch the top of the page with out leaving a space. can some please tell me what i'm missing? I dont want to put the link to my store cause that might be against the rules or something so in the store part of the HTML just put something like (storelinkhere) Thanks everyone I know its a really dumb question but im just not getting this HTML stuff. I'm trying to make a website for class, and am having a problem. I made a table, but when I change the size of the window, the words wrap and distort. If I made the window big, the table stretches, and if I make it small it squishes up. What's the easiest way to fix this? So i'm not very good at this stuff, somehow there is an extra white line below the initial title and the three sections. I know there's a lot of garbage in this code of tags that don't need to be here, this code has been constantly edited and by different people and none of us are experts, so a lot of random tags are left around. Possibly one of them is causing the issue. To simplify things, in this example of my code I have removed all the text and links and what not that someone that visits the site sees with "data data data" as I believe they are irreverent to this issue. Any help would be great!!!! My guess is the issue is in the red section, as this is where the gap is between Code: <center>

Here's a screenshot of the issue on the website: Is this a valid format ? <a name="xxxx"><!-- --></a> I ask because it works in all browsers I use but not with IE 8 (Beta). I'm not sure if this is a bug in IE 8 or whether the syntax is strictly valid. I would like to insert the <h> tags to headings & sub headings in certain areas of a web page. But if I place the <h> tag next to the word or phrase that is relevant, it increases the font size. Am I ok to have the code like below or will the SE’s read everything between the tags, including the code & confuse the whole thing. Its just a case of wanting to not have the text as large as some of the <h> tags want to make it. <center><h1><font face="arial" size="3" color="000000"><b>My text here</b></font></h1></center> Hope you can help! Many thanks. Chris. Mod - Please Delete I've seen basic META tags for things such as Author, Keywords, Description, and Copyright (I think that's all of them). So I was wondering what are all the different META Tags and what do they do? I'm not sure if I'm using them correctly or not. I have both <div id="images"></div> and <form> on the right column of my page. I want to overlap the two of them, because the form is hidden so that when the viewer clicks on "contact us" the images div will disappear then the form appears, through behaviors. But the form is below the images div tag, so when I click on contact us, the images disappear, but the form appears on the bottom of the image div tag, its suppose to take the place of the images div tag instead. _________ |
