Similar TutorialsHello Everyone, I know it's been forever since I made a post, but I ran into something I can't figure out on my own and I am hoping that someone here might be able to give me a hand. I recently spoke with a potential client that wants to copy a feature on another website: http://batchgeo.com/ as you can see, on batchgeo.com the end user can paste data from excel into the textarea field, then when the user clicks out of the textarea, it formats the data to look like it is in a table. Does anyone know how they are doing this? Thanks in advance for any help. -A Is there a CSS command Greeings all. First time poster, hopefully this forum is a good starting point for this question. I am using a PHP script to upload some text to a MySQL database-field type is varchar. When the text is retrieved, it is displayed to the right of a embedded html video player. Retrieving the text and video, I also use a PHP script. But then I switch to "html mode" to display the video and text. In "html mode" I use a single row, 2 column table to display the video and text. What is happening is that the text is losing its line breaks. That is it is coming out as one long string of text. Since the text can be up to 1000 characters, that is one long string of text to no have any line breaks! Maybe it is something with the way MySQL stores the data. But if anyone has any thoughts on how to preserve the line breaks, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks. ~Robert Hi, I need some clarification regarding HTML editors and how to display the data that is stored through HTML editors. This is the HTML editor we are using and the following image is the data (uploaded by the HTML editor) displayed in a PHP file. Editor: Displayed label: Please tell me how I can avoid displaying the HTML code in the labels and display the special characters instead. I'm trying to edit a notification email for my blog and have most of it completed; however the only problem I'm having is that there is a gap between the menu-bg-2.png and the top of the table which I cannot get rid of. I'd like the table to be butted-up against menu-bg-2.png. When testing the html in firefox, it seems fine, but within an email the gap appears. Can anyone help? To guide me through my born-again virginity I tried a pre-built free web site. Everything was working great. I'd preview through Dreamweaver and the very basic site looked just fine. I now upload the site to the world wide web and parts of the HTML/CSS are not translating properly (in fact there are parts missing that should be there???). The first problem occurs in the section of the CSS called "PAGE". "Page" has a repeater called "img04" and "Page .bgtop" non-repeater called "img03_blue". "page . bgtop - img_03..." doesn't show up - but in preview it did. Any ideas on what's going on? Second, in the area tagged "MENU A" in the CSS the static background image called "img07_blue" doesn't show - again, in the preview it did, now nothing on the web. I assume its a similar issue to issue 1, but I don't know? This is for a web site my wife needs so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached the site for reference. Thanks, J hi, i have a strange problem. i am using general interface for my application. in that i am using a Date Picker. i need to disable the text box of date picker. i found css class of that text box in gi source. here is the css for text box Code: #JSX span.jsx30datepicker input { z-index: 2; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; border-color: red; } i couldn't disable the text box in the above css any clues? i have no help from General Interface designer to do so. so i started changing the source of General Interface. u r help is appreciated. Thanks R Hi everybody, I created a training/FAQ/general information website at work and now I'm trying to take the website a step further, both aesthetically and functionally. I don't have a lot of formal training in web page design or coding, so please forgive me ahead of time for my lack of knowledge. I have noticed that when some users view the website on their computer that their zoom or text settings take precedence over my code. Is the fix for this as simple as defining the text size or are there additional steps that I need to take to ensure that the text doesn't resize and my tables/menus don't run off of the visible page? Here's some quick info about my site: - It's essentially a series of documents viewed in a browser (calling it a web page, in the traditional sense, feels like I'm lying since there's no URL & no server). - It's entirely client side scripting...HTML and Javascript, with some external CSS markup. I don't have the resources or permissions to use PHP or ASP or anything like that since I'm not a computer administrator. - The only browsers being used are IE 6.0 and 7.0 Thanks for the help... ok so, I am currently running a forum (a role playing forum) and i wanted to provide my members with a list of codes for special characters such as ♥ ♠ and the such. (dont know why they dont work here...???) now my problem, rather my question- how would I use ubbc (or html) to disable the html without a huge Code: "code" box cluttering up the screen i want to put it in a table like arrangement like symbol | code (a heart here) (the code for it here) (spade here) (code here) ect ect I'm just trying to disable an HTML code (a link) in a scroll box. I've become frusturated after Googling it and searching it here with no luck. I've tried the <text area> thing and the < or whatever thing with no luck. I would love some help. Thanks! Hello (this may sound like a confusing post), I have a website that I recently created, and am having some trouble with newly updated pages loading. I had the site set up and finalized, and I uploaded it through my ftp program. The site works fine, then I was instructed to change certain pages. Since I changed certain pages, I have to now refresh each page I go on in order to see the new updated pages (since I already viewed the page on my computer, and it's set in my cookies). I know that I can delete the cookies on my own computer, but I want people who don't know how to do that who have already viewed the webpage, to be able to come back to the site and automatically see the page updates. So in a nutshell - all I want to know is if there is a code I can place in my html that will make it so my site is not stored in anyones cookies. Thanks in advance to anyone who offers suggestions or advice!! Hi all, Here's what I'm looking for, ideally. I want a page to open and on load, I want it to open to a certain size and disable its scrollbars. I can get the resizing working, but how do I disable the scrollbars? <body onLoad=" window.resizeTo(1300, 1000)"> Thanks! JennyjJo Hi, I'm a newbie. I would like to know how do I display 2 labels and both inputs in the same row as shown in the attachment like state followed by input field followed by label for zip and followed by input within the same row of table in a form. Thanks in advance yls Hello, I am designing a new layout for my myspace using an overlay. What this means is I had to put all the links back in, and put in everythign by hand because I was more or less bypassing myspace's built in tools. The only problem I have is that now I have my code put in place and it displays everything fine except that it is all shifted to one side just a little bit so I have this ugly white bar that runs up the left side because all the code is shifted just a little bit to the right, and some of the original page is showing under the overlay. I do not know if this means I need to shift the overlay to the left or the code that I put in for my layout. Either way I coudl use some help in figuring this out Also, right now I have the background color set on the whole page as black. When I take out the style code that does that it shows white on the edges and shows how the content is shifted. Here is a link to the myspace page I am using to test the code http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...3-ee1f6161935a And attached is my code I have a table with images and the table is well formated but after the table ends the contents are displayed beside it . The contents should display below the table... why is this?? What should i do to bring the contents below table?? Thanks I am needing to place my paragraph alongside my title.. I am using the following code..

Hi all, what is the best method to align sets of labels, drop down lists, text input fields, images, and buttons with html? The file I attached is how I would like it to be formatted. I achieved this using tables, but had to play around with alignments and pixel adjustment for a really long time before they were just right. For reference, here is how I coded it: Code: <table style="width:768" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <td style="width:142" align="right"> <label for="county">* County : </label> </td> <td style="width:192" align="left"> <select name="county" id="county" class="ListBox"> <option selected>BEAUFORT</option> <option>HYDE</option> <option>MARTIN</option> <option>TYRELL</option> <option>WASHINGTON</option> </select> </td> <td style="width:40"></td> <td style="width:100" align="right"> <label for="caseOpened">* Case Opened : </label> </td> <td style="width:172" align="left"> <input type="text" size="10" maxlength="10" name="caseOpened" id="caseOpened"> mm/dd/yyyy </td> <td style="width:22" align="left"> <a href="#"><img src="images/calendar.gif" width="16" height="16" vspace="0" border="0" alt="Calender"></a> </td> <td style="width:100"> <input type="button" class="button" name="today" value="Today" onClick="setTodaysDate(caseOpened)"> </td> </table><br> <table style="width:768" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"> <td style="width:142" align="right"> <label for="localNumber">Local Number : </label> </td> <td style="width:192" align="left"> <input type="text" size="20" maxlength="15" name="localNumber" id="localNumber"> </td> <td style="width:40"></td> <td style="width:100" align="right"> <label for="caseNumber">* Case Number : </label> </td> <td style="width:294" align="left"> <input type="text" size="11" maxlength="11" name="caseNumber" id="caseNumber"> </td> </table><br> I'm definitely new to html, and had heaps of trouble getting the tables to display properly. Surely there must be an easier method. Also, is there a way to make static html pages resize themselves accordingly in respect to your browser size? Appreciate all the help in advance |
