HTML - Input Text Box With Submit In <?php
Hi, I have yet another problem which i think an intermediate php programmer can solve. Since I am very new, please bear with me:
I want to try to make a page where the user can input a number of rows to create (this is going to be integrated into mysql), and be able to input the information on the same page. I have not developed the code yet because I could not think of a solution for this, which is why I made tihs thread. I hope you can also answer questions in the [ ] box because im also at a loss the So I want the user to choose the following: "New Entry" or "Old Entry"?[I was thinking these are submit buttons.. makes most sense] "How many Entries?: " user enters 3 and presses submit box [1. should this be a submit box, or another kind?] this is the hard part. I want the user to enter 3, and i want three new text boxes to show up where the user can input data, and just one submit button on the same screen. this i believe will use a forloop after it reads what the user entered so here is the question [question 2]: Can anyone tell me how to create a textbox inside <?php ?> where I can ask the user to input the information and click submit? so far I have only been able to do it in html. Similar TutorialsHi What is wrong with this, it can't post text only post checkbox <html> <head> </head> <body> <FORM action="http://localhost:8182/items" method="post"> <P> <LABEL for="firstname">First name: </LABEL> <input type="text" value = "Hamada" id="firstname"><BR> <LABEL for="lastname">Last name: </LABEL> <input type="text" value = "I hate my life" id="lastname"><BR> <LABEL for="email">email: </LABEL> <input type="text" id="email" value = "I hate you"><BR> <INPUT type="radio" name="sex" value="Male"> Male<BR> <INPUT type="radio" name="sex" value="Female"> Female<BR> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> <INPUT type="reset"> </P> </FORM> </body> </html> Thanks I have a HTML form that truncates the action parameter after the "?" mark - which is NOT the desired behavior I am looking for. I simply want to open the referenced URL within the same viewport. Here is a representative HTML snippet: HTML Code: <form action="http://www.spufalcons.com/index.aspx?tab=gymnastics&path=gym"> <input type="submit" value="Gymnastics"/> </form> In this case, the submit button takes you to the "http://www.spufalcons.com/index.aspx" page, effectively ignoring "?tab=gymnastics&path=gym" parameter. It appears that URL's using HTML and PHP pages referenced in the action=URL work as expected BUT (alas) this is not the case when the target page contains index.aspx. This behavior is consistent across all major browsers (IE, FF, Safari, Chrome, Opera). Has anyone seen this problem before? Or can suggest an alternative and/or workaround consistent with my "pure" CSS/HTML/PHP web development approach? I have tried replacing the special characters with HTML entity values with no impact. I REALLY don't want to use abandon my CSS-styled submit buttons by using Javascript or button PNG's or image maps. Environment: Web Server: Apache 2.2.14 PHP: 5.2.10 OS: Mac OS X 10.5.8 HTML document info: HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> The following common code is not working in Firefox (3.0.11). It works in Safari (4.02) and IE7. When I say not working, I mean that when I click the submit button, the address does not change to the form processing url: Code: <!-- The data encoding type, enctype, MUST be specified as below --> <form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="uploader.php" method="POST"> <!-- MAX_FILE_SIZE must precede the file input field --> <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="30000" /> <!-- Name of input element determines name in $_FILES array --> Send this file: <input name="mp3file" type="file" /> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Send File" /> </form> The file uploader.php does nothing, it is blank, I'm merely trying to establish communication. Once again, the code functions in IE and Safari so I dont think this is PHP related. I have a web page that I had to convert from a .psd file to an html and I'm not able to center a submit button and the text field next to it. I've tried various alignments but I'm also limited by what I can do because when you convert from .psd to html the entire page is one form. I don't have an external link but I'm able to provide html if necessary. Can someone please take a look at my code and offer some suggestions? Thank you Doug Hi All As the thread title suggests, I'm trying to vertical-align the text in a submit button - see attached. The html and css I'm using is below. I've tried wrapping spans around the value and altering the padding (which looks better but makes the onclick outline appear half-way up the button). Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Steve The html is Code: print("<input class='mybtn' SIZE='5' type='submit' name='storedatabase' value='Store Database'>"); The CSS is Code: .mybtn { width: 120px; height: 21px; border-style: outset; border-color: red; font-size: 12px; color: #000000; background-color: rgb(250, 240, 230); border: 1px 1px 1px 1px; outline: 10px; text-align: center; } Hi, I'm trying to make a text input in a form automatically focus when the page is loaded. I know i can't use onLoad directly in the input tag and, searching on the web, i found that i have to use onLoad on the body element - something like this: <body OnLoad="document.myform.mytextfield.focus();"> The problem is i have multiple text inputs sharing the same name (they are cells in a table) so i can't use the input's name. But i do know it's the last element with that name (the last row in the table). So, how can i focus it? I hope you can help me, everything i tried didn't work. Thank you. Hey, I need to create a function or something else on this input text that only english strings can be wrote i mean not hebrew or arabic, if i'm typing hebrew/arabic letters it should wont be wroted I need to add to this code for example: Code: Name: <input type="text" name="your_name"/><br /> Hello.... I have a problem today and I do not know how to over come this problem. If this is in the wrong place, please tell me and I will put it in the right place. Anyway. Today I am trying to make a webpage, where the user, the admin, is able to edit the page to input text. Almost like when you make a blog post and you have a text box and you type what you want and you click submit or post and it goes onto a page. Almost like wordpress. I want to make a custom page from the ground up where there are different divisions of the page and the admin can input or edit text/pictures at anytime. Thank you in advance. Hi. I am currently struggling to find a simple sollution to the following issue. I want to render out a text input box in HTML that will have a block (with borders) for every character. I can think of really tedious solutions that will involve a table with an input tag per cell but this will be nasty if something else is available. The solution is only for IE and cannot involve any ActiveX components due to security issues. So is there any easy way to basically create internal borders in an input or textbox tag that will separate the characters for me? Thanks. Hi everyone, What I am asking is more complicated than the thread title says. Can someone please tell me how, or post some code to show how I can make input fields with these properties: 1. Make text appear in an input field whilst off focus but dissapear whilst on focus, re-appear again if put back on focus. 2. The user can type text in the field and edit it and when the input field is off focus the text he wrote remains there. 3. If the user completely erases the text he wrote and puts the input field off focus the default text (stated in 1.) re-appears. 4. Make a password input field without the default text (1.) being displayed as stars (hidden charaters) with same features as 1. , 2. , and 3. ofcourse. Can anyone please help me?... Evan Hi, I want to modify a form where I have some "select option" and input text tags. The thing is that when a user select an option from the "select opcion" tag, according to the option selected I want to print some input text in the form .. how can i do that?. Thks a lot! Hi, I'm novice in webpage creating, and i have this kind of problem : I'm creating a webpage, where users could post some kind of a comment... I don't know did i choose rigth, but i'm using "input type="text" ...> users write there a comment, and press submit button. This comment is sent to mysql database and saved there, after submiting it. Next step is placing it in a webpage. It works, but ot that way as i want. A problem is : I've added a code like <input type="text" style="650px; height:150px" name="msg"> Input area is about height of 7-8 rows. I want that it worked like this : user types a text, and when it reaches the end of a line, cursor jumpt to the beneath row. Now, user is writing everything in one row, and when it reaches the end - scrollbar apear on the bottom. I would like that scrollbar would apear then, when user reaches the bottom of the input area. Moreover - i would like that user could press the ENTER button, to jump to next row. Now, when he does this - submit button is activated, and a written text is sent to the database. Should i use CSS? or ... i'm really green here, and don't know what to do .. hope anypne will answer to my SOS call Hi all. I'm and HTML Newbie and am building a quick and easy site for someone. The way I typically do it for these type of "brochure" style sites is to simply lay everything out in photoshop. Slice it up save as HTML and then edit in Dreamweaver. Here is the HTML as it is now: Quote: <html> <head> <title>JessicaSite</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head> <body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"> <p> </p> <!-- Save for Web Slices (JessicaSite.psd) --> <table width="948" height="605" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" id="Table_01"> <tr> <td colspan="5"><img src="images/Services_01.jpg" width="948" height="518" alt=""></td> </tr> <tr> <td><a href="Home.html"><img src="images/Services_02.jpg" alt="" width="176" height="87" border="0"></a></td> <td><a href="Services.Html"><img src="images/Services_03.jpg" alt="" width="178" height="87" border="0"></a></td> <td><a href="Gallery.Html"><img src="images/Services_04.jpg" alt="" width="180" height="87" border="0"></a></td> <td><a href="Designer.Html"><img src="images/Services_05.jpg" alt="" width="193" height="87" border="0"></a></td> <td><a href="Contact.Html"><img src="images/Services_06.jpg" alt="" width="221" height="87" border="0"></a></td> </tr> </table> <!-- End Save for Web Slices --> </body> </html> Pretty simple. In the first Table I'd like to be able to put text in there and have it scroll. How do I do this? I've already tried putting a div style="overflow:auto; tag around the first table but that definitely didn't work. Any suggestions? Bare in mind I know NO CSS and only the basics of HTML. I'm making a form that contains three places for the user to enter text. The first two are for taking only one line of text, but the third is a bigger input for taking in multiple paragraphs of text. The trouble is, I can't get this third one to wrap the text! Is there a way to turn word wrapping on for an input bar? Or should I be using a different form element? Hello, Does anyone know how to create an input form that saves text to a text file? i.e. a text box with a submit button. Thanks. Ok, you know how you can drag the mouse over any amount of normal text and the text gets that blue border around it. Try doing the same with an input box and you can only highlight the text of one input box at a time. How can I highlight the text from multiple form input boxes at once? Hello, I'm not too sure where I'm going wrong here. I've created a graphic for use as a background image, which contains a text box in the middle of the page. I've sliced the image and adjusted the html to include a rowspan, which can be seen at this url: http://www.magicalwonders.com/graphics/test.html Borders have been left on so that the layout is easier to see. I was expecting the two cells either side of the cell that I've rowspanned to stretch as extra text goes in the box - however, this doesn't seem to work and the design gets completely broken, as in this url: http://www.magicalwonders.com/graphics/test2.html I don't won't to be restricted in the amount of text I can include, so can anyone point me in the right direction and advise on the correct way to get this to work? Many thanks, Myles |
