HTML - Why To Learn Xhtml Coding?
Hi all,
I am a beginner in coding. When we have dreamweaver , front page softwares that can build webpages, why to still learn coding? Are there any strange reasons behind it? Kidnly, enlighten me... Regards, Kishore Similar TutorialsHello forum please help me out on this one I want to learn html and xhtml I have found a website that teaches html http://www.goodellgroup.com/tutorial/ but I want a more detailed tutorial and I didn't find xhtml please send me some links to learning websites for html and xhtml. Thank you much thanks So I posted this before on a different website, but it wasn't exclusive to HTML, so I decided to post this here where I can get more opinions and input from a larger group of web savvy people: So currently I've been using XHTML 1 Transitional for about half a year now (I've only been developing websites for that long), but there are so many other different types, such as XHTML 1 Strict, HTML 4 Transititional, HTML 4 Strict, that I'm now confused and don't know which to stick with in order to be best prepared for the future. I did a lot of research on the web and I've hard arguments for both sides... stick with XHTML... switch to HTML.... So which is the better choice and why? Apparently XHTML was supposed to be the future, but then there is now HTML5 in development and a lot of the browsers seem to be leaning towards that.... Than there is also XHTML 2 in the works.... *sigh*... I'm so confused... So what should I do? Should I stick with my current knowledge of XHTML 1, or switch to writing in HTML 4? And then somebody responded and told me to go read up on HTML5 in Wikipedia, and I did, then I responded: So I read the Wiki link; basically the conclusion I got is that HTML5 will be both HTML and XHTML ("XHTML5") compliant? Well... then I guess I have nothing to worry about? Then somebody else (who visits htmlforums.com) responded and told me it best to stick with XHTML. And told me to use Strict instead of Transitional. He then refered me to htmlforums.com. And now I'm here posting this post And FYI, my websites uses much dynamic content and also iframe... so it best I stick with XHTML Transitional? Which one is better? XHTML STRICT 1.0 or XHTML 1.1 What is the easy way to learn Css properties? hi, i have done my first year at night college in web design and i do all of the coding myself in notepad. people tell me all the time that dreamweaver and such programmes are better and i should learn them what are the advantages and disadvantages of coding myself? thanks I want to learn how to use html and do not have the first clue where to start. how do i access the code on my webpage to start messing around with it? I've tried using custom drawn boxes, but my website doesn't like it, it's chewing up the links and wont link them. If you look at the website link there I posted, to the right side of the page there is a box that is empty, below it says something like "links will open a new browser" I want to set links there. I don't know what style of scripting I need to accomplish that. I'm starting to feel like html isn't cutting the mustard. And frontpage isn't cutting the mustard over there. I also have another question, about setting up an html password. I have this setup here ~ Code: I want it to work like this, if you put in a password and it's incorrect, it'll send you to an error page. This somewhat works, however not accurately enough. If you leave it blank it will spit out an error site. But if you put any random thing, as long as the box isn't empty it will work. I don't mind if the password is in the page source code, that's not a big deal. Most people I know don't have a clue you can even look at source code. So as long as I can ring a few in doing it this way I'm fine. Hello, Could someone recommend a couple of books for me? I'm interested in upping my skills in html/xml/css/javascript etc but am unsure what to purchase. I have: Advanced knowledge of html Moderate knowledge of css Basic knowledge of javascript VERY Basic knowledge of Actionscript 3.0 I was looking into Lynda and Friends of Ed. Thoughts? Hi I've resisted long enough - I realise now I MUST create an iPhone version of any site I make. Complete newb to iPhone development, so I was wondering if there is a good tut somewhere you guys know of? Thanks Shaun Hey all, I still consider myself a novice in html and especially CSS. I know basic, basic html like how to write paragraphs and line breaks and embed videos and write meta tags. I know virtually no CSS However, I would like to learn more advanced techniques. Any suggestions for straightforward sites or videos or programs that I can look up? I have been looking at w3schools.com a little bit and I use notepad++ for an editor. Anyway, any suggestions would be awesomely appreciated. Thanks guys! Hi, I am new and have just started learning basic HTML on w3schools.com. Is this a reliable website with accurate HTML tutorials? what is xhtml? Hi. I *hate* I.E. I'm usually browsing websites in Google Chrome - & sometimes Mozilla / Opera. Ive designed a website (not public as yet), & it does validate for XHTML - it looks perfect on Opera / Mozilla & Chrome. But IE messes it up. Basically it uses Divs, & has a left menu, & the main content is a Google map. Also, top menu / banner & a footer at the bottom.. on IE7, the google map is UNDER the list of cities etc (left menu), instead of in the middle / right of the left menu.. Can anyone advise a website listing common IE problems & how web designers can fix it.. hi and goodafternoon i run wapsites and i want to convert the wml scripts to xhtml all my scripts are php based which i know will work in xhtml too. i also use mysql coding for database side of things . here is one of my smaller scripts . <?php <wml> <card title="sitename">

Welcome!!

Terms of use!
You are here with
END; print 'Browser:'; $browser = explode ('/', $HTTP_USER_AGENT); print $browser[0]; print '
'; print "IP-Adress: $REMOTE_ADDR
\n"; print <<<END ---

</card> </wml> END; ?> how would i convert that to xhtml . and if its just a case of changing the tags then would it work on the rest of the scripts with sql coding in too . nclemale@hotmail.com or post your replies here thanks in advance I'm pretty new to XHTML and I see that to properly close a br tag (and others), you usually put a space, then a slash, then a closing chevron, a la
. But I was wondering if there is anything fundamentally wrong with eliminating the space before the slash. It seems to work in my browser either way, and I think it makes the code a little easier to read and type. Thanks! Tell me..... I am reading about XHTML now and noticed that it is really no different than HTML. The only difference(s) are, correct me if I'm wrong, that XHTML is more strict with the rules. Lowered-cased letters, properly closed tags, etc, all that mumbo jumbo. If I'm already doing that with HTML, must I need to worry about XHTML? |
