HTML - Text Disappears When Window Is Resized

I know this is kind of an obvious question for all you guru's, but how do you stop your web page from shifting when you change the size of the window?

I have an image inside a div, when I try to make the image a clickable hyperlink the image disappears and there is nothing to click or see.

I tried an alternative way by making the Div a hyperlink with the following code...

This works except for a couple problems...1st when hovering over the link nothing is shown in the browser status bar and 2nd, the target="_blank" isn't working.

On the left hand side there are 6 images (one is not showing) which i would like to make links.

I made the first (from the left) one work by making the Div that contains the image a link, but I can't get the link to open in a new window and I don't like how the browser (i'm using chrome) status bar doesn't show anything when hovering over the link.

The 2nd icon (which can't be seen) disappears whenever I add <a href></a> tags around it.

The images are in the correct folder.

Anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Sorry if this has been answered already. I've done a search, and couldn't find it.

I'm a copywriter who maintains his own HTML website with Notepad. But I'm very ignorant of CSS use. In other words I know enough HTML to get myself into trouble, but nowhere near enough to get myself out!

I've just realised that the borders around the images on my portfolio page no longer display. I'm sure they used to.

Here's the essence of the code:
<img src="images/image.gif" border="1" style="border: gray">

But they work fine when I remove the style tag. But then they appear black, and I want them gray.

I'm using some font substitution code (SiFR or something like that). Not sure if that's relevant. I've noticed it's caused some strange problems in the past.

Would greatly appreciate it if someone could help.

In this code I'm using, on the index page is a log-in box. Once a user logs in the log-in box disappears and the container below the log-in box moves up to the log-in box spot. The reason I want to change this is that it leaves a blank space below the moved-up container. Can this code below be changed to, instead of the log-in box disappearing, it is replaced by an equal sized text box, thereby not allowing the below container(news flash) to move up? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I run an online music website, http://obscurealbums.com

At the end of my last post, I decided to put some buttons with links to Amazon US and UK stores, and everything works fine. However, if you click on the post's title (so clicking on the individual post) the images are replaced by the alt text and the Amazon US is strikethrough.

How can I get around this? If you need any more details, please let me know - I'm an HTML novice...

I am wondering if anyone know how to have a link, once clicked, open a popup window WHILE also changing the page in the existing window.

I know how to code them separately, but I do not know how to combine the two actions.

HTML Code:

My site currently uses the above code to open popup windows.

Here is the case. I have an HTML page that opens a pop-up. Within the popup I need upon click to open a new window. The code is as it should be according to all references:

<a href="some url" target="_blank">text</a>


Everything is ok with IE6 and IE7 - a new window is being opened.

What happens in Firefox is very strange - tabs are shown and the currently opened popup becomes one of the tabs and the new window opens in a new tab of the pop-up window instead in a new normal window.

Did anybody encounter the same problem? Any solutions?

can somebody please tell me a code that will show my image link only when a guest is on my phpbb forum and it will disappear when they log in.

I have two html file (first.html and second.html) i called the first.html from batch Command file, then the batch file calls the second.html file.
what i want is that while loading the second.html it will close the first.html using script. If its a parent then i can use top.close() or parent.close() but its not a parent window.
Here no parent file. please help me to do this.

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and is expecting an answer for this question. I have implemented a facebook type search to the database which displays the familiar text saved in the database when I type some text in the database. My issue is after I have used the search box for a couple of time the text box starts displaying a similar dropdown from its history which hides my database search. Does anyone know how to disable it using html or css. See the attached Image if my question is not clear.

here is the (ineffective) code currently:

the image shifts the left margin such that the text is centered as though the page width was 169px less than it really is.

i'm not debating the code itself; the code above behaves as its meant to. aka no surprises. i just cant figure out the appropriate code to center the text across the entire real width of the page as though there was no image.

i've tried div tags & all the things google hunting advised. no luck. other than finding this forum, which seems like it'll be a boon!

I have several websites that I maintain and update. A lot of them are just textual changes and I would think my customers can do these themselves by editing a simple .txt file.

I was hoping my choices are avalable so that I can just insert this tag into my web pages and then give them login info to their edit page or show them how to upload the .txt file.

I hope this is an easy one with several answers.

Is it possible these tags could discipline your rankings in the search engines?

How do I Link text in a div, h1, h2, p to an external text file or xml file - I don't really know how to ask the question. I think I need an xml file that can be easily edited by a user saved to the server to update an xhtml page text without the user getting bogged down in html.

I don't want to use joomla or cms.
