HTML - How To Display Pdf Files In Web Pages
Hope I am in the right area. I just joined.
I did search for display pdf files in web pages and did not see a clear response. I would like a simple script to display a pdf file. I did try <A href="data.pdf">Print Data list</A> and does not work. Please help. Similar TutorialsOK it said be specific so here it is. I am a first time html'er infact I am just now in an html/css class, the downside is my honors organization wanted a website this week. I was able to build something novice like @ http://www.asu-bap.com what I noticed is when I use images or a css stylesheet on the index page everything works grandiose. However, when I reference the same style sheet on other pages such as join.html or announcements.html it would not use the style sheet. I got really irritated and just embedded the css into each page individually. Think that my code was just that bad and i had nowhere to go for help. Then... I tried to do an image on my calendar.html, and i had the same issue... I even tried (as I had with the css file) to create a brand new directory called calendar and putting the img in there. To no avail, it still would not pull up the image. I am like 90% sure my code is right for the image so then I found this website and decided to try to get help here. Here is my code for the calendar (its a word doc converted I just added links and img), I have everything uploaded to root directory. Please help. And if you fix what could have been my css referencing issue, I wills end you cookies! Code: <STYLE TYPE="text/css" MEDIA=screen> <!-- body { padding-left: 11em;} ul.navbar { list-style-type: none; padding: 0; margin: 0; position: absolute; top: 2em; left: 1em; width: 9em } ul.navbar li { background: white; margin: 0.5em 0; padding: 0.3em; } ul.navbar a { text-decoration: none } a:link { color: blue } a:visited { color: purple } address { margin-top: 1em; padding-top: 1em; border-top: thin dotted } --> </STYLE> <!-- Site navigation menu --> <div class="style1"> <ul class="navbar"> <li><a href="http://www.asu-bap.com/">Home</a> <li><a href="http://www.asu-bap.com/forums/">Forums</a> <li><a href="http://www.asu-bap.com/announcements.html/">Announcements</a> <li><a href="http://www.asu-bap.com/join.html/">How to Join Beta Alpha Psi</a> <li><a href="http://www.asu-bap.com/calendar.html/">Calendar of Events</a> </ul> <img src="1_BAP_color.jpeg" /> Hi, i can't seem to figure this out. How would i go about showing a pages url on the page itself. For example, i am on a page with the url http://www.website.com/page.html, how would i display the pages url on the page automatically, without typing it myself? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. I have a lot of content on a page, and it is being added to every day. Because of the constant adding, the page becomes longer & longer. Instead of this happening, is there a script I could use that would make the content AUTOMATICALLY move to a new page when neccessary? Example: Page 1 can only have 30 tables. Someone adds 5 more tables to page one- CAUSING the older tables to be moved to another page. I can make the pages(page 1, page 2, page 3) beforehand, but is there a script that will let the content automatically go from page 1 to page 2 when page 1 is overflowing? Is the ANY way I could do this? Through PHP? or even Javascript? HOW MANY <body> </body> BODIES CAN I HAVE IN THIS INDEX FILE? IF YOU SEE ANY IMPORTANT MISTAKE PLEEAAAASEEE HEEELLLPPPP!!! Code: <html> <head>PLEASE HELP!</head> <script type="text/javascript"> window.onload=function() { document.getElementById('NewsletterList').onchange=function() { window.location=('http://www.homeless-forum.org/'+this.value+''); } } </script> <body> <br> <CENTER> <select id="NewsletterList"> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"file.doc\" title=\"\">John Doe<br> XXXXXXXXXXX</br></a>. <option value=""><b> PLEASE SELECT<b/></option><!--this option takes you to --> <body mar="0" marginheight="0" bgcolor="rgb(38,38,38)"> "BACKGROUND BLUE GREEN MARMOL " <embed width="100%" height="100%" name="plugin" src="http://canImakeApdfFileA1stWebPage?.pdf" type="application/pdf"> <option value=index.htm>Option #1</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="option2">Option #2</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="option3">Option #3 </option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="option4"><br>Option #4</br></option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="option5">Option #5</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="option6">Option #6</option><!--this option takes you to --> <option value="blog/wp-login.php"><!--this option takes you to blog--> </select> </body> </CENTER> </br> <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" ............... </html> Hi guys, I have on my webhost a ton of pictures and I would like to be able to go to that directory... xxx.com/photos ...and have a page display all the files located in that directory just in a list....then be able to click on them so it displays. Just a file list basically. eg: pic1.jpeg pic2.jpeg etc Is there a simple code to allow me to do this? Thanks! Hi there, I'm curious of how to code a fix display size of html files. If I were to set the size (when launching) as a monitor size 1024 x 768, which means users don't need to scroll up and down anymore. It will exactly fit into the screen. How should I go about doing it? Thanks and cheers........... This will be hard for me to explain so I will add an image: http://img75.imageshack.us/my.php?image=examplexu6.gif How do I go about loading a page within a page. For example, in the pic, if you clicked Cost it would load a page within the loading area without taking off to another location. I seen it on a site before, i remember the links were something like "/?p=cost" or something like that. And the page appeared to not navigate elsewhere, the cost page was just loaded within the page i was on. hope that makes sense, if so any examples on this? is it hard to do? messy? safe with most browsers? thanks Hi guyz, i have a query Mouse over the datagrid cell display tooltip or panel to display information but only using HTML and CSS not using javascript. can anyone help me. because im gonna use it on htmleditor on c# desktop application thax before I'm currently making a new layout for my site and before it will go online, I want to set all my pages on a BRB page/status (customized with my own brb logo+text etc.. Anyway I can do this? If this is in the wrong section sorry, i have been thinking of adding a new page to my site and added sky sports, but how do i set up a page that opens another web page right away? How do I make variable pages? EG: ../showgame?id=10 So multiple pages can begenerated from one document. I have my main website called index.html, but since i've added php into the code, i've renamed it to index.php. But I also have a forum, which includes another index.php. I'm wanting to have my index.php page to be the page that people see when they come to my website. Is there anyway that it could happen? Hi, First of all sorry if this is posted in the wrong place I have a shopping cart i have coded and i'm just about to put a SSL connection (https://) the question i would like to ask is: Will i have to recode my shopping cart to make it work with the SSL (in order to make it secure and encrypted) or will all the data that people enter(credit card, address etc) automatically be secure and encrypted? Many thanks Joe Hi everyone, Could someone help with a hyperlink problem I have please? I am currently working on our company website and am constructing some pages detailing the Health and Safety training we do. I have created a page which contains a link to a second page with the course dates on. Is it possible to then link from the page with the course dates to the previous page but I want to link the the bottom of the previous page. Is there a way to do this? Many thanks! Jess Hey having read the advice on this site I know have several pages mocked up in photoshop and have sliced and coded them as well. How do I link pages though so that the page switches?? Also I'd like the background and certain parts to stay constant rather than reloading when a new section is loaded. Any helpful suggestions would be brilliant Thanks! I know in PHP you use PHP includes, but how do I do it in html? So I have one file with my navigation links, so it's easy to edit and update all pages? Also, same with copyright date at the bottom of the page? How can I make it so I don't have to edit eveyr page every year? Thank you. I am having difficulty centering pages for Firefox and Chrome. Please view the source code of http://www.alicm.com. It centers fine in all versions of IE. Definitely need a little help. I am not very experienced, so any "before and after" pasting of coding would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I have a website which is now closed. I have forwarded the domain (www.chineseteaforyou.com) to a page on my other hosted website (www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html) to explain it is now closed. If people type in the domain name of the closed site it works as I expect, and they land on the correct page. If they type in the address of another page on the old site, they get the "Not Found" message. For example: http://www.chineseteaforyou.com/site...30/page/543219 will be forwarded to the following page which does not exist: http://www.e-stores-online.com/chine...30/page/543219 I would like to redirect any forwarded pages with www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html/ as the first part of the URL to www.e-stores-online.com/chineseteaforyou.html I tried to do it with a .htaccess file but get errors. Can anyone help me do this? Thanks. Hi, Currently my website is valid XHTML but I am planning on re coding the whole thing. I wanted to use HTML because to me it's a little easier and more basic. If I just start out with the html and head tags and no DOCTYPE and use the basic tags...do you think it would still work ok? I just dont want to go through the whole validation thing. I know other sites who use plain HTML without validating and their site works fine. Also I was wondering if it matters about uppercase tags? like < HTML > and < A > or < a > does caps make any difference? I guess I should probably just try it and then test it on major browsers to see for myself. Any advice would be appreciated! I just want to use plain HTML without worrying about validation....but I also want to make sure that people can use it on all different monitor sizes and browsers (at least all major browsers). I know thats the whole point of validation, but pretty much my question is: if I use plain HTML tags, including deprecated ones such as the < font > tag if it would still be usable on major browsers? I'm wondering because I've noticed that even though the W3C claims they are deprecated, some of them still work anyways? Sometimes I wonder if the W3C is right about that? Thanks! I test all of my pages on all of the most popular browsers. I believe that you can only have one version of IE installed per user account. I have IE6 running on one PC, and IE7 on another PC. Once IE8 becomes popular, I will test my pages on that too. Q. Can I have multiple versions of IE available on a single Windows XP PC? Do I need three PCs to run IE6-7-8? Q. How are you guys addressing this problem? |
