The end user would click on "Movie #". It should be easy enough, but there are two things I need. One - for the Microsoft Active Control warning to go away (not appear) as this will be run locally, and Two - for the movie file to run outside of the browser, or at least for the browser to not show any toolbars or menu options as the movie fills most of the screen. Any way to do this in HTML - something that is easy for me to make the links. I'll have probably a hundred or so movies to each of the CDs I'm compiling, so that's a lot of manual linking. Thanks... I have a simple web page which consists of one column of cells, five rows down. I would like to have some sort of hierarchical structure that allows me to click a link in the top-most cell to bring up a set of links in the second row, then click on one of these links to bring up some more links in the third row etc. Clicking on a different link in the top-most cell will then bring up a different set of links in the second row, and so on. Can anyone suggest a method to do this? I've been looking into frames but i've read that this isn't best practise. Thanks. Hi. I am making a template for my site, and i really need my title image to display at the very top of the page, so the top of the image touches the bottom of the tool bar of the browser. This is currently what my page looks like www.skyhigh3d.com/testpage.html I would like the top of the black image to touch the top of the browser, so there is no background visable above the image. The image and navbar are in a table, so really i need to table to be at the very top. I know this is possible becuase i have seen many sites with the image at the very top, but no matter what i do it doesnt seem to work. Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks -JC I'm having trouble making IE display the content the same in other browsers the same. Like google chrome and firefox. Do I have to use css for this. Firefox displays it as a broken image. It's just a .jpg file, nothing special, and it's on the page as a regular image tag right at the top of the Body tag. Am I missing some little Firefox quirk here or something? I removed the text content in the code snippet below but it's enough to get the idea. Code: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" href="styles/mainStyle.css" type="text/css" media="screen" charset="utf-8" /> </head> <body> <center><img src="images\mythLogo.jpg"></center> <center>webdesign - consultation - graphics<br></center><br><br> <div id="topnav">Insert menu here</div> <div id="maintext">Insert text here</div> </body> </html> Is it possible to make each row in a table a link to a website? (regardless of how many columns there are). Not sure if I worded that right. But I have a 3 column table with three rows. And I want a row with no columns at the top that is the full width, so I can put a title in there. how do I do that? Here is my current title. Thank you. Code: <table id="box-table-b"> <thead> <tr> <th width="175" scope="col">Website</th> <th width="69" scope="col">Lowest <br /> Price</th> <th width="50" scope="col">BUY</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>xxxx</td> <td>x</td> <td><a href="#">Here</a></td> </tr> <tr> <td>xxxxx</td> <td>x</td> <td><a href="#">Here</a></td> </tr> </tbody> </table> How do I make a table with a fixed width stay centered even if the browser window's horizontal size is smaller than the table's horizontal size? align="center" makes the table centered as long as the browser window is bigger than the table. If the browser window is smaller, the table will be cropped on the right size only, not on both size. I would like to do this to have a table with a fixed width and a background image, so that no horizontal scrolling bar appears if the screen resolution if too small for the table. The image should howerver stay centered no matter what the windows size is. Thanks. Hi. I want part of the text in my table header to be bold, but I also want another part of it to be regular font. I'm kind of new to HTML. How would I do this? Thanks, Brad alright, i have an ad (which is in an iframe from the advertiser) on the right side of my site thats a little bigger (by 30px) than the rest of the content on that side. http://www.greendayauthority.com/ You'll see it on the rightside. You'll also see how because it's bigger, it forced that cell it's in to stretch, and pushes the other stuff to the side (you can see that by looking at the top banner, and how it's smaller than the content when they should be lined up). What i want to do is maybe place that ad in a div or something so that it'll hang over the right side of the table, instead of pushing the other things away from it. Can anyone help me out? Hi, I cannot get a table to display in a div on my site. If I change <table> to <div>, it works, but it is very tabular data and I need table styling. Code: <div id="stats_panel" style="display:none;"> <!--display is turned on by js when a button on page is clicked --> <a href="javascript:GoBack()"><img src="files/images/misc-images/close-button.png" alt="" style="float:left; position:relative; height:40px; width:40px; z-index:1;" /></a> <div id="stats_inside"> <div style="border:0; padding:2; width:100%;"> <div style="border-collapse: collapse; margin: 3px auto; border: 1px solid blue;"> <div><div>table</div></div></div></div></div> Above works, below will not work Code: <div id="stats_panel" style="display:none;"> <!--display is turned on by js when a button on page is clicked --> <a href="javascript:GoBack()"><img src="files/images/misc-images/close-button.png" alt="" style="float:left; position:relative; height:40px; width:40px; z-index:1;" /></a> <div id="stats_inside"> <table><td>hello</td></table> </div> Further, anything after the <table> declaration disappears. It will not show up. Site is www.uhstitans.com/schedule2.php Click one of the Stats buttons to see the pop-up. FURTHER INFO - EDIT I just noticed that by adding <table>, the content appears at the bottom of the page, instead of being hidden (display:none in the stats_panel div. also, the info trailing it drops to the bottom of the page. In a perfect world, it would all wait until the js is activated and then appear in the center of the page. THis is the result I get when I do not include <table> ad include <div>. Thanks in advance, Todd Hey guys I got help on a project I'm doing from Eri. Seems he used this tag in the code which is posted below. Anyways I did some research apparently Safari doesn't like this tag. His solution works great in IE6, IE7, and FF2/3 but in safari the layout dies. Has anyone messed with this type of solution. I and some friends run a small Catholic arts and crafts website (www.illuminatedink.com) through which we sell products that we create. I've based the page layout on a table instead of frames or iframes. The table has 3 cells in it. The entire top "banner area" of the screen is one cell. Below that on the left we have the naviagation menu cell. The main content that someone is trying to view appears in the remaining lower right cell (also the largest). This page works great on all the computers at my house (3 of them) and on most other computers as well. I have yet to test this in IE 7.0, but if someone else has that browser, please let me know what happens. So, what's the problem you ask? That lower right table cell where all the content appears does not work for everyone. I just got another complaint today that no scroll bar appears and the person can only see what's in the top of cell, there is no "scrollability". Here is a sample (with notes made by me in ** NOTE ** format). The notes are of course not in the actual code, I am showing only the code really matters here. Code: <BODY STYLE="margin-top: 0px; margin-left: 0px"> <TABLE CELLPADDING=0 CELLSPACING=0 HEIGHT=590 WIDTH=1000> <TR HEIGHT=90> <TD WIDTH=1000 COLSPAN=2 STYLE="background-image:url('http://www.illuminatedink.com/images/background/banner.jpg')">   </TD> </TR> <TR HEIGHT=500> <TD VALIGN=top WIDTH=200 STYLE="background-image:url('http://www.illuminatedink.com/images/background/menu_bar.jpg');background-repeat:no-repeat"> <TABLE ALIGN="center" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0> **Navigation menu on the left side goes here** </TABLE> </TD> <TD WIDTH=800 VALIGN="top"> <DIV STYLE="overflow:auto;height:490px;width:800px;position:absolute;left:200;padding-right:30px; padding-left:0px"><MAP NAME="page_links"> **All code for the scrollable cell in the lower right goes here** </DIV> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </BODY> So, can anyone possibly tell me why this would have a scroll bar in some browers and not in others? Or does anyone have any code changes I could make that may guarantee that they will get a scroll bar in that lower right cell? The complaints that I have received mainly seem to be from Mac users using IE for Mac. But I just had someone who had a brand new Dell with Windows XP Prof. and the most recent IE 6, which is exactly the configuration I run, but didn't get a scroll bar when I did. Ideas? Thank you! I am updating this groups old school website built with tables etc. The main images display to the left in Mozilla and centered in IE. http://www.sevenhawaii.com/ I am assuming, in this case MF is actually displaying it correctly. Does anyone have an idea of a quick fix? I haven't worked with tables in a long time. In order to get fading rounded edges I made each block a 3x3 table, like this: Code: <div class="general"><table class="bgtable"><tr><td class="bgtopleft"></td><td class="bgtopcenter"></td><td class="bgtopright"></td></tr> <tr><td class="bgleft"></td><td class="primary"> example post </td><td class="bgright"></td></tr><tr><td class="bgbottomleft"></td><td class="bgbottomcenter"></td><td class="bgbottomright"></td></tr></table></div> and here's the applicable portion of my stylesheet: Code: body { font-family: sans-serif; font-size:11pt; letter-spacing : 0.03em; line-height : 130%; color:white; background-color:white; } .container { margin: 0 auto 0 auto; width: 900px; } .general { background-color:#70a055; margin: 0px 135px 10px 130px; } table.bgtable { border:none; border-collapse: collapse; width:635px; } table.bgtable tr { border:none; } .bgtopcenter { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgtopcenter.gif); background-repeat:repeat-x; } .bgtopleft { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgtopleft.gif); width:18px; overflow:hidden; } .bgtopright { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgtopright.gif); width:18px; overflow:hidden; } .bgbottomcenter { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgbottomcenter.gif); background-repeat:repeat-x; } .bgbottomleft { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgbottomleft.gif); width:18px; overflow:hidden; } .bgbottomright { height:20px; background-image:url(/data/bgbottomright.gif); width:18px; overflow:hidden; } .bgleft { background-image:url(/data/bgleft.gif); background-repeat:repeat-y; width:18px; overflow:hidden; } .bgright { background-image:url(/data/bgright.gif); background-repeat:repeat-y; width:18px; overflow:hidden; } In most browsers everything lines up right, but in chrome it looks like this: Any suggestions? Thanks for reading. I don't know how to even debug this because it works in firefox but not IE. I display a table and use PHP script to populate the table. In explorer, the "fellow" value gets SKIPPED and then the next value ("rcf_date") gets put into that td, so everything gets screwed up! Looking at the code I can't figure out what it is about it that explorer doesn't like. Why on earth would it skip the fellow field? Here;s the php code that displays the table: Here's a link to a screenshot of the table in IE: http://bp1.blogger.com/_cy0zia_bU_s/...screenshot.png Here is the code to display that table. Any help would be appreciated: Code: <?php require('secure.php'); include "dateheader.php"; include "connectdb.php"; ?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Active consult patient list</title> <link href="stylesheets/simple.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> </head> <?php $query = "SELECT id_incr, patient_name, mrn, location, fellow, rcf_date, admission, consult_reason, impression, recs, comments ". "FROM active_consults WHERE signoff_status = 'a' ".
