HTML - Sometimes I Hate Explorer - Location Link Problem
Hi,
I am working on a website: hxxp://www.webjuicer.be When I click on "contact" I've added <a name="top"> tag on that page, that's why the url includes #top. (the browser should automatically scroll down to that tag on the page) Normally, like I've always learnt, this is a basic tag and should work in all browsers. However, it seems that Internet explorer has more difficulties with it. In IE it only works when I press "contact" twice, and therefore it's useless. Any one knows what I've did wrong? Thnx very much! Similar TutorialsHello all. I have this page showing an image viewer and in internet explorer i have these horrible gaps in it. Can anybody please help me. HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html> <head> <title></title> <style> body {padding: 0px; margin: 0px;} .table_top{ width: 827px; height: 9px; background-image:url(images/top_line.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; text-align:center; } .table_content{ width: 827px; background-image:url(images/table_content.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; height: 418px; text-align:center; } .table_viewer{ margin-left:15px; margin-right:15px; text-align:center; } .table_thumb2{ margin-left:15px; margin-right:15px; text-align:center; height: 60px; width: 770px; overflow: hidden; position: fixed; } .middle_line{ width: 827px; height: 7px; background-image:url(images/middle_line.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; text-align:center; } .table_thumb{ width: 827px; height: 61px; background-image:url(images/table_thumb.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; text-align:center; } .table_bottom{ width: 827px; height: 9px; background-image:url(images/bottom_line.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; text-align:center; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="container" align="center"> <div class="table_top" align="center"></div> <div class="table_content" align="center"> <span class="table_viewer"> <a href=\"/gallery/slide.php?image=69&auto=on\"><img src='/gallery/images/left_arrow.png' width="52" height="50" border = '0' /></a> <img src="./slides/img001.JPG" title="img001.JPG" align="middle" /> <a href=\"/gallery/slide.php?image=1&auto=on\"><img src='/gallery/images/right_arrow.png' width="52" height="50" border = '0' /></a> </span><br /> </div> <div class="middle_line" align="center"></div> <div class="table_thumb" align="center"> <span class="table_thumb2" align="center"> </span></div> <div class="table_bottom" align="center"></div> </div> </body> </html> Thanks in advance Knappers is there a way to link to a location on a page like in the example below but instead of the link existing on the same page as the target location, the link exist on one page and points to a bookmark on another page? So for example, I want index.html to have a link that takes the user to chapter 4 of content.html (which is half way down the page) Code: <p> <a href="#C4">See also Chapter 4.</a> </p> <h2>Chapter 1</h2> <p>This chapter explains ba bla bla</p> <h2>Chapter 2</h2> <p>This chapter explains ba bla bla</p> <h2>Chapter 3</h2> <p>This chapter explains ba bla bla</p> <h2><a name="C4">Chapter 4</a></h2> <p>This chapter explains ba bla bla</p> Hi, I am in the process of building a website for a client. This is my first ever site so I knew I would have a few issues. I have fixed all but one at present. Here is a link to my site which I have put live on a test server. http://leaf.greenxtian.com/grangefarm/index.html The naviagation bar and Lightbox2 images are moving when rolled over. This only happens in Internet Explorer 8. It is fine in FireFox and other browsers. It is only on the Services/Facilities Pages so I think it may be an issue with the CSS for Lightbox2? Maybe how I have set it up or just a bug in the coding? Does anyone know why this is happening? If so, do you know of a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have spent hours trying to work this out. On the website host i use i can put the location of the file (example, images/banner.png) but how do i get it from a diffferent file. like if the file i need is in the images file but my html file is in the "javascript" file Here is kinda what i mean. this shows where the files kind of a ( ">" points to the file in that folder ) javascript > index.html images > banner.png .. so how do i get the image from the image file without having to put the full url to it? because i cant put "images/banner.png" cause its going to think the image file is in the "javascript" (its going to go to "javascript/images/banner.png", instead of just "images/banner.png)file since the html file is in the "javascript" file and not the main page. if you dont understand this tell me and ill try to explain it better, i tryed to make it as clear as i could. Ok, this is the last thing that I need to do to finish this site and its driving me crazy. Ok, so if you view my site in Firefox everything looks fine http://www.clandestinedesigns.com/ccinsurance/index.php if you view it in IE, the content box and the iframe are not lining up like it does in Firefox. Does anyone know what is causing this? Hi, Is it possible in HTML to have a link that takes you back to the previous page you visited. But here's the catch....i want the back link on my pages to behave exactly as the BACK button in Internet Explorer (hope that makes sense). I have a link on my pages which is this: <font size="2"><a href="javascript: window.history.go(-1)">BACK</a></font> but this works in such a way that if you go to Page1, then Page2, then Page 3, then you click on BACK in page3...that takes you to Page2...if you then click on the BACK link on Page2, it takes you back to Page 3...when in fact I want it to go to Page 1.... Please urgently help. Thanks http://www.dishonor-elite.com/Trashy/screencap1.jpg if you look at the link it says it all, i paid for someone to code my website and they kinda just left me hanging, so if anyone can help me with this one problem i would be very very thankful, your friend from new orleans, John Ruckler Hi all, I'm have a problem with my mouse over buttons. They work under FireFox, but they don't with IE, DAMN IE! Can someone take a look at my code? It's about the "BUY", "INFO" and "CONTACT" buttons. I dont know what the problem is. Whenever I go to click on it it reappears but in white. I would really appreciate any help in regards to this issue. Thanks! Hi All, I have developed my website using Internet Explorer version 7.0 which was on my PC. When I opened site in Internet Explorer 6.0 I observed that there is a lot of difference in what is there on v7.0 and now on v6.0. I found many images has got displaced from there original location. Even there is are changes in the color scheme and the background effect of text. I use to see text in <LEGEND> tag in "white " color in my IP7.0 which is apearing in "Blue" color in IP6.0. I think this is happening due to difference in version of IP. Is that correct? Please suggest me the way how to design website so that it will appear as same irrespective of the browser used to open it. Thanks in advance. Regards, Jaas. Hi all! i have an annoying problem with a simple form, which accures only in explorer... the text fields respond to a click only at their very left end, or, if I give them a value, where the text actually show. How do I make it so that they will be "chosen" in response to a click anywhere within them? You can see a proto of the form at www.teleionholon.com/TH/form.html. This works great in Firefox, only explorer gives me a hard time! thank you so much! Shir I'm not really a coder but better at designing the actually template...but I'm always left to coding it anyways... I just need some help smoothing things out because right now it looks terrible in all browsers Heres what its supposed to look like: it looks a mess in firefox but ok on Internet Explore http://www.sendspace.com/file/v3t00e Thanks if you could help me sort things out Hi I'm tearing my hair out over here just trying to get table cells to be the desired width... I've tried all sorts of different things, but I still can't get the left column in this table to be wider. Ideally I'd like the table to be 50/50 so that the titles are all placed nicely down the left hand side and the form fields are all nicely down the right hand side... simple right? http://www.nickthorn.com/surfersworld/NewUser.asp I'm sure the answer is staring me in the face! Any help greatly appreciated, thanks. Kev Hi, I have developed a website and used Internet Explorer to view it when making it. However, when I load the pages in firefox it is not formatted the same - why is this? Doesn't firefox recognise certain html and css tags? How can I fix this if I want the website to be viewed the same in Firefox? Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place but I have an issue with Internet Explorer 7. Apparently, when user's are looking at my website (it's internal) with IE 7 - the size of the font shrinks to 2 (or even lower). the site looks ok on fireFox/older version on IE. can anyone advise how to fix it? THANK YOU! I'm not sure how MySpace is viewed on this forum, but I figured that posting here would be my best bet for help. I'm using HTML to place a table composed of several GIFs over my normal page. It changes the look completely, while still maintaining the functions I wish to keep. I normally use FireFox and the table I made works perfectly fine with it. The issue is most of my friends use Internet Explorer, and I realized the table has weird gaps when viewed in IE. It used to have vertical gaps too, but I turned the table code into one long line and that was fixed. I'm still left with horizontal gaps, though. http://www.MySpace.com/NeoApollo My HTML experience is limited, so lots of the code is borrowed from this site or that generator. Because of this, the code isn't very readable and I apologize. Hi all, I can not seem to figure out why a form on my fathers website is having trouble being read by Internet Explorer. The text directing what should be written (ie. Name, Telephone, Email Address, etc...) is being cut in half. I have no idea why it is doing this I have tried playing around with the cell padding to no avail. I appreciate you help Thanks, Josh Korn |
