HTML - Assigning A Title Tag To Images
Hey guys, I have enjoyed this forum and learned so much already from the various threads. Thanks.
Here's my current problem, and I'll try to be clear: Details: I have an image gallery on one of my pages built that contains the following code: Code: <div id="thumbnails"> <a onClick="movepic('pix1','images/pic000.jpg')" title="title000.jpg" href="#"> <div class="imgcontainer" style="background-image:url(thumbnails/pic000.jpg)"> </div> </a> <a onClick="movepic('pix1','images/pic001.jpg')" title="title001.jpg" href="#"> <div class="imgcontainer" style="background-image:url(thumbnails/pic001.jpg)"> </div> </a> <a onClick="movepic('pix1','images/pic002.jpg')" title="title002.jpg" href="#"> <div class="imgcontainer" style="background-image:url(thumbnails/pic002.jpg)"> </div> </a> Etc. Most of the updating will then take place outside of the code; I dump the pictures in the images folder and rename them to correspond with those listed (ie. pic000.jpg-pic100.jpg). For the purpose of this gallery, images will often be replaced by new images sooner or later. I want these new images to have a 'title' without having to go in and manually changing them from the current "title000.jpg" to "John and Sue" or whatever it will be when the image is replaced. Question: Is this possible? Is there a way to assign a title tag to images outside of an html editor that can be retrieved upon loading/importing the image, OR some alternate means of including such a concept within the html? I ask because the individual who will be updating the images has no knowledge of html and I would like it to be as easy for them as possible. Hello, I am new to the forum, my question is, how do you get the little image that shows in the title of the web page and on the browser tab? Thanks Chunk Hi everyone I have a Perl script that translates a text file into HTML table. The script works fine, it's the HTML part of it that doesn't work the way I want it. Here is the script. Code: #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; use warnings; print "Content-type: text/html\n\n"; my ($file1,$fileread1,@array1,$line1,$lastcol1,$firstcol1); $file1= '/home/yanni/scripts/testfiles/tempfile1'; open ($fileread1, $file1) || die "Could not open $file1: $!\n"; @array1 = <$fileread1>; close ($fileread1); #--> SET PAGE TITLE, POSITION & FONT SIZE print '<CENTER><STRONG><FONT SIZE="8">Blue</STRONG></CENTER>'; #--> SET TABLE TITLE print '<CENTER><TABLE BORDER="5" BORDERCOLOR="BLACK" WIDTH="30%" CELLPADDING="5" CELLSPACING="5"> <TR><TH COLSPAN="10"><H2><FONT SIZE="5">Work1</H2></TH></TR>'; print '<center><tr><th>Row 1</th><th>Row 2</th></tr><center>'; foreach $line1 (@array1){ ($lastcol1,$firstcol1)=split(/\s+/,$line1); print "<center><tr><td>$firstcol1</td><td>$lastcol1</td></tr>\n<center>"; }; ####################tempfile2##################### my ($fileread2,$file2, $array2,$line2,$lastcol2,$firstcol2); my $file2= '/home/yanni/scripts/testfiles/tempfile2'; open ($fileread2, $file2) || die "Could not open $file2: $!\n"; @array2 = <$fileread2>; close ($fileread2); #-->SET BROWSER TAB NAME print "<TITLE> TEST </TITLE>"; #--> SET TABLE TITLE print '<CENTER><TABLE BORDER="5" BORDERCOLOR="BLACK" WIDTH="30%" CELLPADDING="5" CELLSPACING="5"> <TR><TH COLSPAN="10"><H2><FONT SIZE="5">Work2</H2></TH></TR>'; print '<center><tr><th>Row 1</th><th>Row 1</th></tr><center>'; foreach $line2 (@array2){ ($lastcol2,$firstcol2)=split(/,/,$line2); print "<center><tr><td>$firstcol2</td><td>$lastcol2</td></tr>\n<center>"; }; ####################tempfile3#################### my ($fileread3,$file3, @array3,$line3,$lastcol3,$firstcol3); my $file3= '/home/yanni/scripts/testfiles/tempfile3'; open ($fileread3, $file3) || die "Could not open $file3: $!\n"; @array3 = <$fileread3>; close ($fileread3); #--> SET TABLE TITLE print '<CENTER><TABLE BORDER="5" BORDERCOLOR="BLACK" WIDTH="30%" CELLPADDING="5" CELLSPACING="5"> <TR><TH COLSPAN="10"><H2><FONT SIZE="5">Work3</H2></TH></TR>'; print '<center><tr><th>Row 1</th><th>Row 2</th></tr><center>'; foreach $line3 (@array3){ ($lastcol3,$firstcol3)=split(/\s+/,$line3); print "<center><tr><td>$firstcol3</td><td>$lastcol3</td></tr>\n<center>"; }; #print '<CENTER><STRONG><FONT SIZE="8">Blue</STRONG></CENTER>'; ######################putting the tables side by side####### print '<style type="text/css" media="screen">BODY { color:white; background-color:00100C; font-family:sans-serif; } table { border: 6px solid blue;float:left;width:400px;} table_container{width:800px;margin:0 auto;} </style>'; The HTML part of the script above it will give a title and then 3 tables side by side each one of them representing the content from a different text file. What I'm trying to do is create a new title and then produce some more tables from some other text files but when I put a new HTML title at the end of this script, the title goes above the 3rd table not below it. All I 'm trying to do is repeat the script above to translate some other text files into HTML on the same web page. Can anyone help me please? Hey! I heard that the <title> tag is the most important meta tag you use on your page, so I want to use it more fully than I currently am. At the present, I have a single title tag that I use in my header file that every page on my web site (link in my signature) uses. My question is, would it be better to put a <title> tag on each page individually and get rid of the title tag in my header file? My site is new, and I'm pretty new to the specifics of web hosting (I'm a hobbyist webmaster) so any help would be appreciated . Hello. I'm brand new to learning html, and have hit a road block. I believe I followed the example in the book (Learning Web Design) faithfully, but every time I add a title tag, the title text disappears. Here's what I got; <html> <head> <title><h1>Black Goose Bistro</h1></title> </head> etc. </html> Every time I take the title tags out it reappears, then I add them and it's gone again. I've looked at other websites, and it seems like they are marked the same as mine. I've looked at it in Safari and Firefox, same result. I wonder if maybe I have my textedit preferences wrong or i saved it incorrectly. I don't know what to try next. Please give me suggestions, and feel free to not underestimate my ignorance-I've been at this html thing for only a week. Thanks. |
