HTML - Size Limit On Uploading Files With Form?
I want people to be able to upload some large image files (>5M each) to my site using an upload form - the usual
<input type="file" name="file" size="30" /> <input value="Upload" style="width: 60px" title="blah blah" type="submit" /> The first time someone tried it they said they couldn't upload their file. I then experimented and found that I couldn't upload files of more than about 2M size (2M worked, 2.5M and higher didn't work). Theserver seemed to give up after awhile and print out the error message that I put in for instances when the file didn't successfully upload. Is there a size limit for files uploaded through HTML forms? If so, is there a way to increase this limit via the HTML script, or something else? If I were to set the size (when launching) as a monitor size 1024 x 768, which means users don't need to scroll up and down anymore. It will exactly fit into the screen. I found this -> http://www.htmlforums.com/html-xhtml...oc-103591.html but seems because it's no one's paying attention so I decided to repost the question, i tried things in above thread but they don't seem to work for me at all and i tried different browsers even, i hit submit and form resets to default values and... that's it no .doc file is generated. Any help in my case would be very appreciated, also i don't know too much outside of HTML When you create a select form with a default size or a size of 1, the options (once you expand the form out by clicking it) that are moused over will be highlighted. I want that same effect on a select form with a size of 30. I imagine the solution lies in some javascript onmouseover function, but I couldn't find anything. Help? I hope I've posted this in the right place, apologies in advance if I haven't. I'm trying to post multiple XML files using a HTML form. The code I'm using is below and although I am able to select multiple files in Mozilla Firefox it is only ever successfully uploading one file. I did it once but just can't seem to remember how I did it. Thanks All: Working to update a previously designed website. Original design uses an <img> tag to create a top banner and another <img> tag to create a side banner. In each case there are mapped coordinates on each banner as links for the subsequent pages. Basic page design is as follows: Code: <table> <tr> <td> <img usemap="Map1"> <map name="Map1"> <area> <area> <area> </map> </td> </tr> </table> <table> <tr> <td> <img name="Map2"> <map> <area> <area> <area> </map> </td> <div> ***PAGE CONTENT*** </div> <tr> <table> The challenge is that the [PAGE CONTENT] varries in length througout the site causing some pages to be much longer or shorter than others. This causes some inconsistencey in the relationship between the side banners height and the page content. In other words in some cases the banner is exceptionally longer than the page content and the reader must scroll past significant "dead-space" before being brought to the lowest mapped links in the side banner; or... ...in some cases the side banner is significantly shorter than the page content causing the banner image to appear "poorly-fit" to the page design. I considered altering the 2nd table instance in the above design so that the banner is carried in a <td> tag that is adjacent to the page content and hopefully to allow the tag carrying the image to size relative to the <td> tag carring the content.... Code: <table> <tr> <td> <img usemap="Map1"> <map name="Map1"> <area> <area> <area> </map> </td> </tr> </table> <table> <tr> <td size="100%"> <img name="Map2"> <map> <area> <area> <area> </map> </td> <td size="100%" > <table> ***PAGE CONTENT*** </table> </td> <tr> <table> The problem I've found with this is that as the content size causes the image to "flex", either readablilty or image quality or both are effected, AND the mappings become inconsistent as the image coordinates constantly change. I've considered 2 solutions and am leaning toward one, but thought I'd post this and see if there are better ideas I'm overlooking. One idea was to add additional table rows inside the [PAGE CONTENT] table presumably creating a "defalut" page size that would never be smaller than a standard for the side banner. Problem: larger page sizes are still a problem as are the changing map coordinates My other idea was to return to the original page design listed first above and again settle on a standard side banner "height"... ...any page that was significantly longer than that height would be split to 2 or more pages with a [NEXT>>] button at the bottom of the page navigating to the additional content. Problem: ...possible complications splitting content... Benefit: ...consistent page design that allows a consistent side banner with navigable links... Question for the group: Does this sound reasonable? Are there better alternatives I am overlooking? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL INPUT!! Is there an upper limit on the number of files that can be uploaded into a single website folder? I highly doubt I'll ever have to worry about that, just curious. I remember from DOS days, and early Windows, that there was an upper limit on the number of files one could place into certain directories (a bit over five hundred for the root directory, if memory serves right). Was wondering if there is a similar problem with web folders. How can I limit the number of characters that will be shown from a field of a DDBB on a td ? Thanks, Ignacio Francisco Penin While more of a curiosity than a problem, I'd still like to know what is going on behind the scenes here... What I have is a php page with an HTML form, the submission of which goes to the same page. I'm using a hidden variable and md5 hash to execute different scripts based on what is in the $_POST variables. My question is in regards to how fast I can hit "Submit" on the form and actually have it pass information via POST. I'm dumping the POST variables to the page each load so I can see what is in it, and it is blank every time if I don't wait for about 10 seconds after the page loads to hit submit. Is this an intentional limit? If so, can it be configured somewhere? Here is a simplified version of what I am doing, confirmed that it is exhibiting the same behavior: Code: <?php print_r($_POST); echo "<br />"; ?> <form action="http://localhost/cases/concept.php" method="post"> <p> <table> <tr><td><label for="field1">Field 1: </label></td><td><input type="text" name="field1"></td></tr> <tr><td><label for="field2">Field 2: </label></td><td><input type="text" name="field2"></td></tr> <tr><td><label for="field3">Field 3: </label></td><td><input type="text" name="field3"></td></tr> <tr><td><label for="field4">Field 4: </label></td><td><input type="text" name="field4"></td></tr> </table> <input type="hidden" name="function" value="newfield"> <input type="hidden" name="token" value="md5"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> <input type="reset"> </p> </form> I am using Apache 2.2.11 running under xampp. EDIT: Turns out this is an issue with IE, Firefox does not exhibit the same behavior... I will pursue the issue along that line now. hi My code is- <HTML> <HEAD></HEAD> <BODY> <TABLE> <TR><TD> <SELECT NAME="Date"> <OPTION>1</OPTION> <OPTION>2</OPTION> : : <OPTION>30</OPTION> <OPTION>31</OPTION> </TD></TR> </TABLE> </BODY> </HTML> it will show the numbers from 1 to 31 in the drop down with long scrollbar. My problem is - I want show only 10 numbers.User need to scroll and select other numbers. Is it possible? Not sure if this is possible or not, but I created a scroll box, which contains a title and then text underneath it. Is there a way to limit the scrollable area, so the title is always fixed at the top of the scroll box and the text scrolls up and disappears just below the title? If its not possible in HTML/CSS, then how else can I do this? Thanks for your help in advance. Hello, I wasn't exactly sure which category to post this question in, but I am having problems uploading a completed website. All of the files have been uploaded to the "www" folder on the server. When I type in the web address on the computer I upload from it appears to be live and working. When I try to view the site on a second computer I get a "server not found" error. Is there something I am doing incorrectly? Thanks for any help you can offer! |
