HTML - Need Advice Creating New Website From Scratch

I'm wanting to make a professional website, close to the look/style of fkn0wned.com but with alot of pages and info. I DONT want someone to be able to steal it so I'm not sure what to code it in, php, css, ect. Whats the best to code in for professional websites? any ideas?

There may not be many believers anymore but its all about and for God and Jesus, and other things such a help with depression, suicide, abuse, ect. Just a place to help people. I already have a few people thats going to help moderate it. Though the other site I made a long time ago, people just kept spamming porn everywhere and I couldnt stop them because they kept changing their IP, so I had to get rid of it. Anyway to stop that?

But if you would like to join the team and help create it, I'm buying the domain name and hosting so I just need help making the site and moderating it and such. If you would like to join the team to help moderate or help build it then please PM me, I'd really like to use your talents , because alot of you are great at this stuff

I plan on going far with this on such as having shirts made and weeky email messages, maybe a chat room with this program I could buy. So if youd like to help please post pr PM me, please dont flame, if you dont understand or think this is stupid then dont bother posting, God has changed my life 100% completly and I'm a new person, getting married, never been more happier. And this is a site to get people into God and help them with Him, this has NOTHING to do with religion.

Please excuse all of my ignorance. I am teaching myself (and being taught by nice people like yourselves) on html and website building. Mods, I was unsure as to where to put this and apologize if I am in the wrong section.

This will be a semi long post as I have lots of questions for all of you. I will organize it into sections in hopes to get a more detailed response.

The Background
I have experience with basic html and have (until now) only used free web servers with web site building tools and just used html for templates and buttons etc. I run my own fish/aquarium supply business and wanted my own .com name instead of a sub-domain. So my better half bought me a a domain and basic hosting package from godaddy.com

-I am running OS X on a powerbook via safari and firefox.

-My host is at godaddy.com

-I am confused and in need of help.

The Problem
Well, so far for me being "good" with websites what a joke that was. Without a web site editor software like the free sub-domains come with I am lost. I understand a html editor would be the best and easiest way to make pages for my site?

-My main problem is I cannot get html documents onto my website. I understand I should be using FTP? I have tried with no success, I am unsure as to which folder to even move the page to, I dont even know which one is my home page *Blushes*

-I am very new to FTP and would like some advice for the best way to transfer HTML to a site.

-I also dont know how to name the page i.e.: mypage.com/AboutUs.html
(How do call the page "about us")

-I have tried looking around on go daddy for some answers and havent found much info besides it telling me to use FTP to upload files. I must not have done it right because i am still getting the "oops this site isnt up yet" message.

If you couldnt tell I need a lot of help. I really just need to know how to get my first few pages up and running....I just dont know how to get the files from where they are on my computer to my site, since the package I have doesnt have a website builder/software. If your willing to educate me, Im willing to learn. All help is appreciated and feel free to laugh at my ignorance. Im doing my best.

I am trying to design a website for my fathers company and I am having some issues with the photogallery section.

I used a template for the overall design, and when I want to add pictures horizontally it screws up all the images with their space in between them as well as the alignment of the whole website itself.

Any help would be most appreciated I am trying to do this as a surprise!!!

I am trying to make 2 very different websites.

first one an auction site. I DONT WANT TO USE EBAY its too expensive i need a cheap auction software that will let multiple users register and be able to upload there own pictures of products they are trying to auction off.

second i need to see if there is a program that i can integrate into my website where people login and can make there own website by using templates that are customizable such as colors and pictures and information and letting them be able to upload it themselves. Can anybody help me please. thank you.

I know html and the easy stuff what i need is if you know any program like this or a place that will show me step by step how please let me know thank you.

I am looking to create a website very similar to this http://www.loserstatus.com/ that is my friends site and I currently have this www.canapictures.com . I like how simple his layout is but it looks sooo much better than mine lol. He hired someone to build it so he has no idea how it was made. Does anyone know if there is a template or something I can use to make something similar, I mainly just want the scrolling box with pictures that are linked to videos like he has on the top of the page below the banner.

This will be my first website, aside of simple projects from my school class.

A friend of mine has a website that is currently already up an running. He would like the site completely re-done, as he moved his company, has new offers, etc.

Is the best way to do it, to re-write/edit from scratch, or to use a free website builder? I have beginners html/css/Javascript writing knowledge, and have been searching online when I need help.

Let's say he already has a website called www.5star.com

If I use a free website builder, will I be able to transfer all that to his domain name he already has so it doesnt become something like www.freewebsite/hostme/5star.com ? He is getting the FTP info from the guy who originally made his site.

I don't know much about HTML so please be gentle in responding.

I'm setting up a form for online donations for the organization I work for and we're using Paypal to receive the donations. The problem is that I need to be able to let people designate their donations to specific projects and such but Paypal won't do that. I know that I can set up a form on our website that allows them to select the different projects, put in the amounts and then have a box at the bottom giving the total donation.

The problem I have is that whenever they fill out this form and move on to the Paypal payment page, they have to re-enter the total donation on the Paypal payment page. I want to eliminate this step, if possible. My question is this: Is there a way to have the total donation amount copied and pasted onto the Paypal payment page so they wouldn't have to re-enter it?

I'm looking to create a simple booking form on a html website. It needs to generate an email containing the details for the website owner, as well as show confirmation to the form user that it has posted successfully.

I'm trying to establish the best/easiest way of doing this? I have a fairly good grasp of html - but would this involve programming outside of html? Javascript perhaps?

I am wanting to create a website/forum that looks quite neat/good, I've never had experiance doing this before so I am a new to all this stuff, I tried to learn this before but only got a home page completed.

- I'm wanting to create a home page but just linking to a forum, like for example ( when someone goes onto my website it will say 'Website will be is down due maintiance so click here to go the Forum.

- Then I'll maintiance the website such as the home page, ect.. I just want a working nice forum.

Say I want to create a website by myself, using my own HTML code. How would I do this?

I am pretty good with HTML, and know quite alot. But when it comes to finding somewhere to place all the code, it confuses the hell out of me lol.
So, a few questions.

- What programme is the best for writing your code into?

- Once I have saved the code in this programme, how do I upload it through the FTP? (like, where do I place it?)

- Is that it, or is there more to it?

I want to build a website that when first entering the website asks for a user name and password. Then depending on which username they enter it goes to their page. On the page a want like a form that they can enter information to and save a text file or something on to the server that they can access at a later date and edit and save again. I want to be able to view this file. How can I do this? Thanks for the help

Hello I'm not sure if this is in the right section, but I'm trying to figure out how to make my website more easily maintainable.

EG On my site there is a bar on every page with my "latest updates", every time I want to add an update I have to add it to every page which is tiresome.
I was wondering if I can just have this bar point to a text file on every page so I can just update this one file and it will be displayed on all pages.

I would like to start a credit card website, but I don't know much about html/web design. I am offering someone professional to help build me a website. The site must look like this site: credit-land.com , mainly referring to its templates & color.

In addtion, I would like another website, somewhat similar (but not a clone) to this one: get3creditcards.com , so that I can distribute copies of that site to my affiliates to help promote my products. Facebook share button, twitter etc.
Flash banner with a picture slider
add own logo, slogan, footer etc.

I tried wordpress but the themes are not that great and it wont let you do a lot. Is there an app or software that will make this easy?

I am semi-new to html, and have tried to figure this one out on myself, but it just doesn't seem to work!

So I am trying to create a layout for my photo blog, with these standards:

* images that I post auto-resize to squares [100*100]
* when you click on the image it will show you the full sized version

optional:
* on the homepage you get the option to click on 'ANALOG' and 'DIGITAL'

That's all! It can't be that hard right, am I over-seeing something?

I want to use this layout on tumblr, blogger, wordpress, or any other free platform!
