HTML - Image Won't Load In Some Browsers
This is giving me serious grief.
I've set up an index page containing a number of thumbnail graphics. One of the images (the 12th) loads fine in IE7 and Safari, but not in Firefox 3 or Opera. Here's the link: http://www.pragma.pwp.blueyonder.co....ono/index.html Any thoughts? Similar Tutorialsi have a frames website ... inside an iframe ... inside a table! i know that sounds crazy, but tought myself from scratch and solved problems as they arose. my problem now is that in some ie browsers, my banner frame, and main content frame will not display. (error message page cannot be found) however the navigation frame (left hand side) displays fine. i use a mac running safari 3.2.1 and i have no problem i also have another pc system running xp and internet explorer 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp_sp3_gdr.090206-1234 on this system the problem occurs. some other users visiting the site have encountered the same error, however not everyone. and being a newbie (who has probably taught himself all the wrong things) i have NO idea where to start. the site adress is www.shooteverything.com.au if anyone is able to help, that would be much much much apreciated. if i need to post further information please let me know. cheers ben Hello, I am trying to solve a problem with my site. The banner for links in the top frame is supposed to be framed by two horizontal black lines. It appears the way it should in Safari and FireFox (both mac and PC versions) however in the PC version of IE versions 7 and under (8.0 works fine), the bottom line begins after the last part of the banner ends.....so it sticks way out to the right side of the page rather than dropping down and being flush with the left side of the page. I've tried including it in the table, making it part of its own table and leaving it as an independent image element which is how it is now. Nothing seems to work. Granted, I do not have a ton of experience with website development and was hoping someone here could let me know what I've done wrong and how to fix it. I've included an image of how it should look. The website is poizner.com The html code is below: Thanks! <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-frameset.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Alan Poizner Photography </title> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> image1 = new Image(); image1.src = "portraits02.gif"; image2 = new Image(); image2.src = "editorial02.gif"; image3 = new Image(); image3.src = "weddings02.gif"; image4 = new Image(); image4.src = "digital02.gif"; image5 = new Image(); image5.src = "etc02.gif"; image6 = new Image(); image6.src = "contact02.gif"; // End --> </script> </HEAD> </head> <body link="white" vlink="white"> <div id=EchoTopic> <img src="topbar.gif"> <br> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" align="left"> <tr> <td valign="top"> <img src="alanpoizner.gif"> </td> <td> <img src="spacer.gif" hspace="75"> </td> <td> <a href="portraits2010/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image1.src='portraits02.gif';" onmouseout="image1.src='portraits01.gif';"> <img name="image1" src="portraits01.gif" border=0></a> </td> <td> <img src="divider.gif"> </td> <td> <a href="editorial/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image2.src='editorial02.gif';" onmouseout="image2.src='editorial01.gif';"> <img name="image2" src="editorial01.gif" border=0></a> </td> <td> <img src="divider.gif"> </td> <td> <a href="weddings2010/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image3.src='weddings02.gif';" onmouseout="image3.src='weddings01.gif';"> <img name="image3" src="weddings01.gif" border=0></a> </td> <td> <img src="divider.gif"> </td> <td> <a href="digital/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image4.src='digital02.gif';" onmouseout="image4.src='digital01.gif';"> <img name="image4" src="digital01.gif" border=0></a> </td> <td> <img src="divider.gif"> </td> <td> <a href="etc/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image5.src='etc02.gif';" onmouseout="image5.src='etc01.gif';"> <img name="image5" src="etc01.gif" border=0></a> </td> <td> <img src="divider.gif"> </td> <td> <a href="contact2010/index.htm" target="mainFrame" onmouseover="image6.src='contact02.gif';" onmouseout="image6.src='contact01.gif';"> <img name="image6" src="contact01.gif" border=0></a> </td> </tr> </table> <br> <img src="topbar.gif"> </body> </html> Hello everybody, I hope you can help me before I pull my hair out! I was about to create a site in Dreamweaver CS3 and decided to add a background image to it via CSS. But whenever I try to preview the index page, I do not see the background image. I have tried to preview it on Firefox, Internet Explorer 7, and Safari. But I cannot see the image at all. What's more frustrating is that the background image displays just fine on the Dreamweaver design preview. I feel like it is taunting me. I have also tried to upload the specific files to a webserver and it still does not display. I have tried to change the image from a jpeg to a png to a gif and still no luck. Before I go on about what else I have tried let me give you some information about my site. I have 3 files: index.html layout.css bg.png Site layout as follows: /index.html /css/layout.css /images/bg.png index.html contains - -------------------------- <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> <link href="css/layout.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> asdf </body> </html> ------------------------ layout.css contains- ------------------------ @charset "utf-8"; /* CSS Document */ body { background: url("/images/bg.png"); margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; } and bg.png is the background image in question. and heres a link to an online upload: http://www.geocities.com/cssnoob69/ What I don't understand is that another site I have built in Dreamweaver with the same CSS background-image declaration works just fine. I have even tried to use the background for that site on the new site but even that does not work. I have tried to find help on google but nothing I found helped. Any help is appreciated and thanks to all who tries to help me out! I recently developed the following site: www.stripburgerlv.com If you view it in Firefox it may look just fine. However, in Safari, Opera or IE you'll notice that the right side of the white bounding box disappears. I dont understand?! Part of the image file includes that white edge so why would it not show up in those browsers? Thanks! Hey all, I've been trying to fix up my carpet cleaning website. The bee.png image in the top left of my menu bar is giving me problems with older browsers & most hand-held devices, e.g., iTouch, cellphones, etc. Is there any kind of trick (hack) I could use so that it will properly align with all devices? Website: www.honeydocarpetcare.com Also, please let me know if you are noticing things that are out of place. If so, please tell me what browser and version you are using! Thanks all! Hi guys, my first day here + i'm new to web design. i'm trying to learn html from the scratch and trying some simple tutorials. i faced a bit of a problem. I have the following code to display some web site : <html> <body> <h1>This is my Main Page</h1> <h2>This is a heading2</h2> <p>This is some text.</p> <p><a href="page1.htm">This is a link to Page 1</a></p> <p><a href="page2.htm">This is a link to Page 2</a></p> </body> </html> problem is as soon as i add <img src="imagename.jpg"/> to the code above, it just doesn't work and when i try to load the page i get a new window popping up that tells me "C:\....path.... can not be found" why? how can i load an image to the site? where should i be saving it? and are there constraints concerning the size? thanks in advance... cheers, Lina Hi, I'm having a strange problem. I've added a new page to my website, but I can't get the image to load. It loads OK from a folder on my desktop, but when I copy the files to my web host the image won't load. Any ideas, anyone? Stuart. I have a very strange intermittent problem that I can not figure out. Sometimes, one image on my page does not load. When it does not load the image in the <div> next to it is in its place, and next to that image there is a blank spot the size of the image that did not load. The part that really confuses me is that when I view that pages source the <img> tag is there with the name of the image. The name of the image is rather long, about 25 characters long. The first thing I am wondering is if a long file name might prevent the image from loading. I doubt it... but, I don't know what else to consider. Here is what that section of code looks like: <div class="noBorder"> <a href = "http://www.luckygamez.com/"><img src="img/Lucky_Top_312_90_Bubble.jpg"width="312" height="90" vspace="0px"/></a> </div> Thanks, Matt Hello, Could someone please help I have made a very simple site http://www.101.dentalcompanion.com I placed a <span> image to sit on top, it works when crome opens but in internet explorer and firefox the image does not open. I also added the same image in a <div> tag in the siidebar and the same issue crops up. i thought I had it worked out but I just can't seem to make it work. Thank you ever so much. kama Hi ! I want to delay loading an image (Logo.gif) a while while the backgound image is loading. How ? /Bertil Hey, I am using a background image on the body section of my page; however it loads very slowly. I there a way to speed up the load speed without reducing the clarity or detail of the image using either CSS or HTML? Right now the image is 2.2 MB, which is part of the problem. But when ever I shrink the size in gimp, the detail of the image is reduced.. Thanks! Hi, I want to add some flash to my header image on my website. Before i add the flash i was wondering if there was any code i could use to first check if flash is installed and if not for it to just ignore the flash and load the background image. The flash is just going to be an animation of my logo. Is there something i can do similar to when you use code to check for browser version? If the person has not got flash installed i don't want them to be promted to install it i just want it to load the static logo image which will be set as the background image behind the flash. For people with flash already installed i would like the flash annimation to load. Any ideas on if this is possible would be appreciated Thanks in advance CC_DESIGN Is it possible with html? i've been working on a site but each time you click the next arrow a new page loads, all the text is in the same place so it doesn't move and is even in a fixed div but due to it being a new page everything loads, the text collapses until the larger image in the center loads. Of course this is fixed when the site is cached but of course the site would only be cached once someone has clicked through it and experienced the problems 27 times... so my question is is it possible to code for when i click the next arrow only a new image from a different link to load? is this possible with html? I don't know a single thing about flash or javascript. thanks for all the help in advance here is the page in question (not done but you can still see the problems. the home and bio links well, aren't links yet) http://www.paulodourado.com/ ok, ive tested this several ways and im stuck, ive coded the PHP navbar pretty much the same as the HTML version of my site.. but in th PHP page it wont show. I think the sprite is confliction in some way, dont see a way to put my finger on it: It concers this page, the red square. the whole Navbar: Code: <ul id="navigation"> <!-- SVIB ww / er --> <li><a style="background-image:url('img/nav/4back.png'); width:81px; height:80px; position:relative; border:solid 2px red;" id="bol_4" href="?page_id=2">back</a></li> <li><a id="bol_1" href="?page_id=187">1</a></li> <li><a id="bol_2" href="?page_id=189">2</a></li> <li><a id="inloggen" href="inloggen.php">3</a></li> <li><a id="bol_3" href="?page_id=55">4</a></li> </ul> and the CSS, which is pretty important in finding the error i believe: Code: #navigation { padding:0; margin:0; list-style-type:none; margin-top:-511px; margin-left:560px; } #navigation a { display:block; width:131px; height:128px; background-image:url(../img/nav/svib_compleet_sprite.png); text-indent:-9999px; outline:none; } /*TERUG*/ #bol_4 { width:40px; height:81px; position:relative; top:4px; left:4px; border:0; } #bol_4:hover {background-position:81px 0;} hi, i have an image rotation code, but its working on switching the code on a timer, and i want it to appear randomly on the page load. anybody know how to change the code? i have the timer part of it below. thanks in advance. var interval = 1.5; // delay between rotating images (in seconds) var random_display = 1; // 0 = sequential, 1 = random interval *= 1000; I myself am a beginner at html, and I was wondering if someone could (if possible) make it so that when a user clicks an image, the image will change to another image and will change back when someone clicks it again? I am looking for a way so that when a user clicks this: It turns into this: And back again when clicked again. I need this to show for all users too. So if a user on 1 computer clicks the button, it switches, and then a user on another comp sees the images clicked, and can click it to change it back to normal. Is there a way this is possible? In Javascript, PHP, or mysql? Thx Hey guys I'm new here, as I found this forum on google. I've run across a little problem or big problem so to speak. I have coded my website and it will load in FF, but not Safari or IE. It had an php function wrong the other day, but I have since fixed that and now I just a white page. Here's a link to the site(don't mind the simple, crappy layout) http://s2roots.com/random/done/ Please any help would be great, this is a project due by Wed. I am having some problems. I am redesigning a site and It looks good in firefox, but when viewed in IE the spacing is off. I like the way it is looking in firefox, but not in IE. Any ideas?? http:// www .integratedpeaksolutions.com/New/Site/ I built this page and I'm noticing it works fine in Dreamweaver browser but not in opera and safari and IE? What am I doing wrong? http://www.rendemolition.com/patio1.html I have recent designed a website inAdobe fireworks then slices then exported it. (So it is in tables). I slice a 1 pixel image of the right side of the image to set as my background (repeat x). So I also set the top margin of the whole layout to 0 pixels. But it seems different browsers have a difference view of what 0 pixels is. Does anyone no away arround this? |
