HTML - Table Alignment
View problem site here.
(A quick establishment of my skills: I learned HTML backwards. I decide what I want to do and learn how to do it, so my understanding of how the different codes interact is basic.) What I want to remedy is the set of horizontal lines extending across the page. Is there any way to have the lines touch the sides (as seen here)? The lines are contained inside a table, since other methods (like z-index) would not allow the horizontal lines to remain aligned with the rest of the layout. I have the table aligned with div layers. Here's the relevant portion of code: HTML Code: <div id="layout" style="top: 0px; margin-left: 0px"> Hopefully I'm not chasing a pink elephant with this. Thank you all for your help in advance. I'd expect the columns width the same width of both tables to be align properly. But they are not, as you can see on the attached picture at the bottom of the page. The first two columns look good, but the more columns I add the more shrewd up the result gets. Does anybody know how to get them properly aligned ? Of course it works if the width is given in px not in %, but that is not what I want to do. Using a single table and colspan is also not an option, as this is a simplified example of the problem. Thanx in advance. It looks fine in every other browser as you can see he But this is what it looks like in IE, about 1 pixel over: You can view the site at: http://www.ringaroundwithrosie.com/aboutrosie2.html and the CSS here. Does anyone see anything that could explain why it is not aligned properly in IE? Thanks for your help! Hi all, my first post... I'm having troubles when i try to add a table after a left aligned table. When i add the second table it goes just at right of the previous table, not at bottom as i want. Example: HTML Code: <table width="60%" border="1" align="left" > <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> </table> <table width="60%" border="1"> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td> </td> </tr> </table> Any sugestions about placing the second table at bottom of first one are welcome. I made this table but I don't know how to move the text away from the table 'wall'. I would like it to be about two or three spaces away. I also just noticed the bullets are outside the table in Firefox. I played with making another table inside the table but couldn't get it right. You can see the example here. Thank you. Adam Here is the code: <center><table border="2" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="61%"> <tr> <td align="left"> <br> <center><a href="http://jimdouglasautosales.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://jimdouglasautosales.com/images/Craigslist/CraigslistVehicleListingLogo.jpg" width="400" height="115.4" border="0"></a></center> <hr> <br> <b><font size="5"> <br> <br> <font size="4"> Miles: <br> Options: <font size="3"> <LI type="disc"> <LI type="disc"> <LI type="disc"> <LI type="disc"> <LI type="disc"> <LI type="disc"> </MENU> VIN: <br> <font size="3"> (Ask for a free vehicle history report) <br> <br> Visit our <A HREF="http://www.jimdouglasautosales.com" TARGET="new"> website </A> . You can view this page at: http://www.jalc.org/about/2008_galle...008/index.html As you can see, when you look at this in IE it takes the image in the left column and puts it at the top and the image that is supposed to be in the right column moves over to the left. I am at a complete loss as to what might be causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Andy Hi, I did not know how else to name the title, and so voila thats what i came up with. the problem is very simple, but because i am an amateur html programmer( i am speedily making progress) i do not know how to solve this problem. I have created a table the size to fit the resolution size of a 1280x960. thats not whats important, but im just explaining how it should look. I then split that table into 3 sections by using <table width="33%" border="1">. After that i put the information i want in the first section. now when i go to the middle section, when i input my information it suddenly gets placed in the center of that table. I would like to start at the top and work my way down so that i do not mess up any alignments. i want all three sections to be aligned without any outside forces (meaning i do not want the first section to affect the alignment of the second section). i am hoping someone who knows how to solve this problem can help me!! thanks. Goodday, This is a bit of a follow-up on my previous question, but in some ways, it's also a seperate problem: Have a look at this. In the first table, the height is determined by 'height="200"' and the position of the 'Text' is 24 pixels above the bottom, exactly what I wanted. But now in the second table: Here the height is determined by the content of the first row and the 'Text' part's height is way to big. What happened? Why isn't it showing a table with the height I have set? What should I do to tell a cell it's height, starting from the bottom of the table? Thank you for your help, Laurens, Hi I have made 2 tables for my home page for content of pages. Each table is two rows The problem is the right column in each table is not height alligned to the left column because there is a uneven amount of links How do I get the right columns to come up heigher and be height alligned because it looks messy? I spent hours looking at all different web pages about tables and could not find this. Does anyone know???????????? Please Help me check it out Here on this page. [url="http://www.great-quotes-powerful-minds.com/"] http://www.great-quotes-powerful-minds.com/ I start with <table width="100%"> <tr><td> put links column1 </td> <td> put links for column2 </font> </tr> </table> Please Help Hello, I made a very simple table layout (with photoshop and imageready) and its my very first time making this type of layout so I'm having a little trouble with the coding. I haven't added a style.css file to it, except for maybe the css that wraps my navigation to a certain width. Here is the url: http://rezina.awardspace.com/layout01 I can't seem to align the images correctly. My friend told me that one of the images was not sliced correctly, so I sliced it but .. it kind of fixed the right side, and not the left. Also, the extra.jpg (which is the outside background-the stripes) seems to repeat itself both vertically and horizontally, is there a way to fix that? Thanks. =)) oh. oops. I just read the rules, sorry for the vague title. I would try changing it to be more specific but I don't know how.. Hello everyone. Im new to forums and am looking for some help my my html. I am having problems with the alignment of my tables. They used to align perfectly but are now being stretched the length of the page. It has to do with my TD somewhere but I can't find it. If you check this code you'll see what I mean. Im not sure what I did but it never had this problem before. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks Hi I know I'm probably committing a cardinal sin by using a table for this layout but that's what I've done. For some reason which I cannot determine the second column is not aligned with the first column in Chrome 11 and Firefox 3.6 but on IE it works correctly. http://wwwrobe.www39.a2hosting.com/?page_id=4 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Hello to all Forum members. It's my first post here. I have a problem on my site using FF 2.0 and opera. When you open http://review4dummies.com/test/index.php you see it has horizontal alignment = center, but when you click on link About Us the site will move about 10 pixels to the right and of course its centered but... huh not exactly. When you browse and click on link Contact Us its back to normal. Clicking on report-a-bug does not move site too. I was checking whole code and noticed that if i add some paragraphs and blank tables to the about-us.php file everything seems to be ok. This is driving me nuts, any help will be apreciated. PS: in ie6 everyting seems to be ok. PS2: I also noticed this bug on some sites: eg. home.pl when you click on menulink "Praca" it will move horizontaly too. eg2. nazwa.pl when you click on menulink "KONTAKT" it will move too. Anybody? Best Regards! |
