Like I said this is my first ever HTML website. I had to put all my CSS syntax stuff into my HTML document because whenever I linked them to each other the CSS style sheet would not work. Was this a good effort for a first time website?

I've been working on a way to see who's using my website and I've just created a way for other web developers to use it too.

My tool shows you who's on your website in a single HTML tag. It's still under development, but I was wondering if some of the other members of this forum might want to check it out and then reply back with what they think of it. It's written in PHP and Javascript, and of course it's free to use.

The project site is http://www.websiteusermaps.com/ so I hope some of you have a moment to check it out and report back to me on this message topic as to whether or not this looks like something you might be interested in using.

Hi, I've developed an estimating program on openoffice calc.. Now I would like to put this on my website. I have converted it to html and uploaded it to site. The links work but the user input's, nor the calculations do not work. Here are my questions:

1. Can I even do what I'm trying to do?

2. Are there special html calc. codes that I should be using instead?

3. If there are, where can I find them.

4. Is there a way of displaying my estimator as a standalone. In other words, it doesn't look like a spreadsheet. (columns,rows,cells,etc.)

Say I want to create a website by myself, using my own HTML code. How would I do this?

I am pretty good with HTML, and know quite alot. But when it comes to finding somewhere to place all the code, it confuses the hell out of me lol.
So, a few questions.

- What programme is the best for writing your code into?

- Once I have saved the code in this programme, how do I upload it through the FTP? (like, where do I place it?)

- Is that it, or is there more to it?

My roommate is looking to create a e-commerce website that consists of a hundreds of scrollable 'pages', left to right. Each 'page' will consist of a picture on the right side and a product offer on the left. The intent is to allow the user to easily scroll the 'pages', browsing through different types of products and pictures.

She would want to use a platform or theme that is fully expandable and customizable, as she is eventually looking to implement social networking and magazine-like content and functionality. Again, she has no real design or coding experience. The only thing she is somewhat familiar with is Wordpress.

So, what would be some of your suggestions for getting started?

I am almost done constructing my jewelry website. I am using Paypal on it. I figured out how to cut and paste the "Add to Cart" buttons. But I can't figure out how to get my "View Cart" button in the top right-hand corner of my pages. Their button wants to take up a whole lot of room, and it doesn't need the room--it's just a little button. I tried incorporating it into a table, and that didn't work. It wants to center itself under the heading I inserted it next to. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

I wouldn't consider myself a novice when it comes to the world of web design but I'm rather confused about this. My website is run off something called Website Baker...a backend editor that I use to make changes to my pages. It is very VERY buggy and I'm getting very tired of it. I want to be able to ditch website baker and just be able to edit each of my pages in dreamweaver via html. The problem is...I don't know how to go about getting rid of website baker, keeping my pages, and switching them over to html without any issues. If anyone can shed some light on my situation it would be greatly appreciated!

I've just set up my website but there's a small problem when it's viewed in Internet Explorer.

The address is http://www.angelsmithphotography.com.au

When it's viewed in Internet Explorer, there's a small (approx 3-4 pixel height) black strip between the header image and the text below. I designed the site in Mozilla Firefox and so far, when viewing in that browser, this issue isn't there.

I know my HTML is probably riddled with other issues (a legacy of learning HTML seven years ago and never bothering to update my knowledge much) but for now my primary focus is this one issue. I have had a poke around in the HTML and usually I would eventually find (or fluke) the solution, but I'm currently running out of time and patience and so hoped somebody else could help me!

I'm quite lost here, I tried several things, done some searching here and there, and just cant figure it out. I'm not sure if what I want is possible with HTML, if it isnt, please move this post to the appropriate section, thanks.

What I want to do is make somesort of a 'Serverstatus block', with some help from the website I posted above. I sometimes host a server in that game, and then it shows up on that website with Game Name, Gametype and Players. Now I want to format that info into a nice statusblock... Though it's not just me hosting a server, there's more people hosting for the same name. I only want that statusblock to get the info only if there's a server with Game Name that contains 'P4F', else it should say 'Server Offline'.

I want the info formatted like:
Server Name:
(namehere)
Gametype:
(gametypehere)
Players:
(playershere)

I just cant figure this out... I do have some basic HTML knowledge, I know how to format text like that, but I dont know how to read from that website...

Could anyone give me an example, tip or website that holds the easiest way to do this ?

Hey guys,

Just a quick question regarding the homepage of the website, does it have to be index.html? or can it be index.php for example?

The reason is that i want to use SSI include scripts on the homepage, but this cannot obviously be done on a html page!
