The problem is that when i uploaded it to my ftp server which is on www.one.com and tried it in IE it did not work as it should. It works perfectly in any other webbrowser like Safari, Mozilla, GoogleChrome, Opera. Why not IE? Is there anybody out there who can help me? Somebody please tell me what's wrong? I mainly use the above mentioned three browsers to test my page layouts. I just need to know how I can eliminate most of my inconsistency problems, i.e. pages not looking the same in terms of fonts, alignment etc. across multiple browsers. Is there a way I can check and eliminate these problems quickly? Macromedia Dreamweaver is not an option. I mainly use HTML-Kit to design my sites. See www.agriads.co.za for an example. Hey guys. I'm having a problem regarding a website I'm building for a friend. It displays perfectly fine on Mozilla Firefox, but when a certain page is viewed on Internet Explorer (said page is http://kod.cogia.net/index.php?page=members), it is absolutely messed up. I've inspected the code a few times but cannot come up with a reason why it is like that. The style code is located at " http://kod.cogia.net/includes/style.css ". The code for the members page is (the resulting HTML) can be viewed by looking at the source code of the page. Thanks for any and all help guys! I apologise if I am in the wrong section of the forum, but I'm not sure where it should be. I am at the end of my tether as to why something I do in my new web site using my favoured Mozilla Firefox does not work in Internet Explorer which I know many people use. My web site is www.otrcricket.com On the sponsors page is a link from our Sponsor (Ratcliffe) logo to their web site, it works perfectly in Mozilla but not in IE. Could someone kindly explain what I am doing wrong. I would be grateful for your help. Many thanks Victor This is the first thing that I have ever written, so don't laugh and make derogatory remarks. The code works flawlessly on firefox and safari, but for some reason on internet explorer it doesn't even look remotely similar. So, please, any help I can get is welcomed. Code: <html> <head> <title>Theory Productions</title> <style type="text/css"> body {background-color:000000} h2 {text-align: center} h2 {color: #EEFAFA} h2 { font: 175% "gill sans" } h2 { line-height: 14pt } a:link {color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none} a:visited {color: #FFFFFF; text-decoration: none} a:hover {text-decoration: none} a:active {color:#FFFFFF; text-decoration: none} </style> </head> <body> <span style="position: relative; left: 88px"><img src="logo.gif" width="650px" height="215px"> </span> <h2><a href="http://www.google.com" target="_blank">Echols</a></p> <h2>Echols' Concert</p> <h2><a href="http://www.google.com" onclick="window.open(this.href,'popup','width=720,height=480');return false">Echols' Great Adventure</a> <h2><a href="EGTS.htm">Echols Goes To School</a> <h2><a href="http://www.google.com" target="_blank">Adam's Playground Adventure</a></p> </body> </html> Thanks, Adam I am designing a page w/ a horizontal menu and CSS (added in header). For some reason, IE7 dislikes what I am doing (the HOVER doesn't seem to be working...) but it works fine in Opera, FF and Safari . . Perhaps one of the pros here can take a look under the hood? I've been at it for hours and can't seem to find the bug(s)... http://www.huntandfishnj.com/Sterling-G/ Thanks and Best wishes, Xex I am using the following code to embed a flash game into my website: Code: <div id="game-position"> <object data="content/games/stickman-sam-2.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="400"> <param name="ShowStatusBar" value="1" /> <param name="src" value="games/stickman-sam-2.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="loop" value="false" /> </object> </div> It works perfectly well on Firefox 3.0.11 but when I try to load the page in Internet Explorer 8 it just shows the flash game as a white square? Does anyone know how I could fix this? Thanks Hi, Is it possible in HTML to have a link that takes you back to the previous page you visited. But here's the catch....i want the back link on my pages to behave exactly as the BACK button in Internet Explorer (hope that makes sense). I have a link on my pages which is this: <font size="2"><a href="javascript: window.history.go(-1)">BACK</a></font> but this works in such a way that if you go to Page1, then Page2, then Page 3, then you click on BACK in page3...that takes you to Page2...if you then click on the BACK link on Page2, it takes you back to Page 3...when in fact I want it to go to Page 1.... Please urgently help. Thanks My site (http://theticketsguide.com) is running fine on Firefox, Chrome, Camino, and Internet Explorer. But on Safari, my site's formatting is off and, curiously, only on the home page. Of note: * The image in the first blog post from the top isn't aligned correctly (should be inside the paragraph, not above it) * In my first blog post, all my text prior to my first link is underlined (wacky!) * The ends of the lines come too close to the margin * My second blog post spills over past the margin * My Recent Posts are pushed all the way to the bottom of my page I noticed that Firefox is correctly reading my .headline_area as an H2, whereas Safari is reading it as an H1. Strangely, if you click on a blog post, the formatting on that page is totally OK. The problem is only on my home page. If you're seeing what I'm seeing, do you have any ideas? Brandon Hi I've just published a rough version of a portfolio site that I am trying to put together, http://www.kos-mediadesign.com Everything looks exactly as it should in firefox and safari but in explorer some of by divs are sticking to the sides of there browser resulting in the layout being messed up. Also a div that contains a link to the homepage (on the logo) seems to have disappeared. Can anyone help me? I need this site finished asap. I used code below to play mp3. Explorer can not play mp3 but mozilla can. What is problem? < A HREF = "MYMP3.MP3".....> OR, <EMBED SRC= "MYMP3.MP3" ...> i have a site that works like charm in firefox but in internet explorer it results to a not found page. Its index page is full of tables and whn i erase some tr it work in internet explorer too I want to fix some of the images and links at fix position on the website on all pages. So i have used Div tag and given position fixed and mentioned the position required for me. It works fine in Chrom, Mozilla but does not works in Internet explorer. I tried all versions of IE from 7 to 9. But it is not looking in same way as it looks in other browsers. You too can visit this url: http://www.arete.in/sgcdesign/practice.html I created this website, http://www.earlyrain.com/jonathan... on my Mac, and it works exactly how I want it in Safari. But, when I go to my mom's PC with 2000 on it (internet explorer 6), the entire page is just random pictures everywhere and looks horrible. Then I can go into Firefox on her PC and the placement of everything works, but some of the pictures won't show up. There's a place for them, but I can't see them. so, I really need some help with the IE problem, seeing as I don't have these problems on my computer... My site looks perfect in all other browsers, but in Internet Explorer (possibly only earlier versions) the alignment of everything is completely off...My blog content appears to the right of the header instead of under it... I validated my code and still no luck, I am stuck! Any help is greatly appreciated! My site is: http://fashion.pocketfullofgold.com THANKS!!! Hi, It seems that a lot of threads of this board are geared towards people having CSS issues in IE, I'm learning how to make websites at the moment and have also noticed this issue. Why have Microsoft not done something about this? I don't understand, it seems like Firefox and other browsers have always been a few years in front of IE over the years, so why won't Microsoft just make a browser compatible with all the latest CSS features, if Firefox can do it I don't understand why Microsoft can't? Is making the browser more update really that difficult? hey im working on a project and when i view the page in firefox the iframe works perfectly. When i view the page in internet explorer the iframe only shows up in the top left corner of the page. Code: <div style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px; right:0px; bottom:0px; background:#F0FFFF"> </div> <iframe style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px; right:0px; bottom:0px" src="http://www.google.com" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"> </iframe> How can i fix this so the iframe is fullscreen in ie like it is in firefox. thx Hi, I'm sorry for asking this question but i just can't seem to find a solution so i thought it might be easier to ask an expert... This is my site design in dreamweaver... click here to see dreamweaver image It looks fine when i use firefox but for some reason in internet explorer it doesn't seem to like me using tables and moves the table right down the page leaving a big gap between the header and the table information.... click here to see in i.e. If anyone has any suggestions how I can fix this it would be much appreciated and save me a lot of headaches. Thanks Adam Hey everyone. I've been working on a site recently and I've run into a couple problems since I'm sort of self-taught and am just getting the hang of some HTML techniques. First of all, I'm having serious format problems with Internet Explorer. My site has a stoplight navigation bar that works fine in FF/Chrome, but when it comes to Internet explorer, it always displays it at the top of the page and moves everything else down . Second, I can't get any doctype validation to work on my website. I've tried strict, transitional and frameset (even though I don't have frames). Whenever I try it, it seems to completely ignore my stylesheet. Anyway, my website is www.avavenue.com. Here's my code for the home page: Code: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <meta name="description" content="AV Avenue is a K-12 Classroom Technology Specialists company.
