HTML - Fixed Header And Border When A New Window Opns

Hello. First time here asking for help. Hope there's a solution!

The site in question is http://www.jason-bradbury.com/Design.html. It's my first attempt at web design and I'm stumped.

The goal is to present my art portfolio in a horizontal scrolling layout with a fixed header and footer. Ideally it would look identical across the many browser platforms.

On a Windows laptop, my page looks and functions as it should in the latest browser versions of Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox as long as there aren't a stack of toolbars enabled. If toolbars are present (mostly in Firefox), the footer gets truncated and the page will not vertical scroll to allow it to be seen.

So my first problem is getting the vertical scrolling (for the entire page including header and footer) to appear only when necessary in that situation.

On my Mac Pro (I have not been able to test a Macbook yet) the page appears normal across the board with Safari and Firefox (have not tested Chrome or IE)

The second problem is that in all versions of IE (and older versions of Firefox prior to 4.0) the page is displayed incorrectly.

In IE, the header is missing, the left margin is way off and a vertical scrollbar is present for the body (again, if the vertical scrolling was for the entire page it wouldn't be so bad). As for the horizontal scrolling, it is very sluggish in IE.

Firefox only has the vertical scrollbar in the body problem and since the header is shown in that browser, the body overlaps it when scrolled up.

The page was originally designed in iWeb and then I had to tweak the code in Dreamweaver to get the fixed header and footer.

I am using Dreamweaver CS3 to create a site, by default i have learnt that when you use an image as a link to another page, dreamweaver creates a coloured border around your linked image.
I have since been able to get rid of this border by adding border="0" into my img tag however this now has caused my rollover not to work before clicking on the image to take you to the linked page.

this is my code; any ideas how i can fix this?

Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone know how to have a link, once clicked, open a popup window WHILE also changing the page in the existing window.

I know how to code them separately, but I do not know how to combine the two actions.

HTML Code:

My site currently uses the above code to open popup windows.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Here is the case. I have an HTML page that opens a pop-up. Within the popup I need upon click to open a new window. The code is as it should be according to all references:

<a href="some url" target="_blank">text</a>


Everything is ok with IE6 and IE7 - a new window is being opened.

What happens in Firefox is very strange - tabs are shown and the currently opened popup becomes one of the tabs and the new window opens in a new tab of the pop-up window instead in a new normal window.

Did anybody encounter the same problem? Any solutions?

I have two html file (first.html and second.html) i called the first.html from batch Command file, then the batch file calls the second.html file.
what i want is that while loading the second.html it will close the first.html using script. If its a parent then i can use top.close() or parent.close() but its not a parent window.
Here no parent file. please help me to do this.

I have constructed an html window within a window thusly:

Hi everyone!!

I have a div box that has a fixed position so it is always there when you scroll down a page.... but as I have a long footer, the fixed div box goes over the footer when I scroll to the bottom of the page

what is the best way to scroll a div box within another div box, so the div box is visible and scrolls with the page up to where the footer div starts?

I have a control on a pop up that i cant seem to get rid of the scroll bars....How do you create a pop up window with no scroll bars I want it to use the scroll bars on the control instead....any help with this issue??

Hello. I need some assistance in figure out how to make a fixed/linkable/image. I used this code here HTML Code:

which worked great in keeping its place. Then I added HTML Code:

before and after but no luck. Im trying to get that link to work for the background too, but its not working out at all. "Sadly no HTML skills whatsoever"

I have a site with text scrolling over a fixed background - mbccc.net - and I want the background to be an imagemap so's I can link from different parts of it.

But I can't make it work.

I can make an imagemap work alright. But not on a fixed background image.

Is it possible or does making the image a 'background' image and 'fixing' it in position mean that it can't be referenced as an imagemap any more?

This one has been giving me a headache for days now. I wish to place

This works fine on Safari and Firefox but when viewed on IE6 the image
moves along with the text. I have been playing with position:fixed;
with no luck. Soon as I get it working on IE6 the image is miss-
aligned in Safari/ Firefox.
