HTML - Moving Files (html And Css) To Another Folder Creates Problems
Hi,
I'm a beginner, so I realize that my question will be silly - sorry for that. I'm just doing a tutorial on html/css. I created a simple website, with stylesheet and image. Everthing was hunky dory as long as files were sitting on the desktop. When I moved them to appropriate folders (I created "html", "css" and "img" folders on desktop), changed the paths from /style.css to css/style.css and from imgname.jpg to img/imgname.jpg, the site completely ignores styles and image. Then once I move it back to the desktop it stats reading it correctly. It's weird for me and I can't find the reason. I checked all paths million times and there is no error there. Whole operation should be super obvious, yet I can't resolve it. I'd appreciate your help. Thank you in advance, JJ Similar TutorialsI have a issue with a google checkout add to cart button. I've added the code from the site and the button appears in the top left hand corner of the screen. I've tried opening the files in frontpage and drag and dropping it, but for some reason the button doesnt show there. If any can help please do. Thanks This is the Html i've got in the page for the part. <html> <img border="0" src="hill.jpg" width="150" height="137"></p> <p> & nbsp;<div class="product"><input value="Metal" class="product-title" type="hidden"><input value="14.99" class="product-price" type="hidden"><div title="Add to cart" role="button" tabindex="0" class="googlecart-add-button"></div></div></p> <div class="product"><input value="Silent Hill" class="product-title" type="hidden"><input value="14.99" class="product-price" type="hidden"><div title="Add to cart" role="button" tabindex="0" class="googlecart-add-button"></div></div> </body> </html> I'm having problems moving textbox up toward upper right corner in div id "login". I tried in css margin-bottom or margin-top or padding-top or bottom and it moves the whitespace. How do I just move the textbox? Also I have no idea why Registration is a link with picture in it? I'm maintaining a website that is mostly hlml, but has some php pages for form validation and email x-fer. The site is currently running at 1&1 hosting service and I need to move it in-house. I have setup a new server with 2003 server R2 and IIS 6 with PHP 5.x installed. When I moved the site files to the local server the site no longer parses correctly. The problem is the imbeded PHP require(); statements in my html document no longer get parsed. In fact the only way I can get php code to get parsed is to give the files a .PHP extension, then the HTML tags don't get parsed. This site has been running for years at 1&1 with this method and I am really not at liberty to change the file extensions until an entirely new site is completed. Environment; 2003 server r2 IIS 6 PHP 5.x the code is like this; <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>...</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <meta name="author" content=".."> <meta name="subject" content="..."> . . head stuff . </head> <body> <?php require ("toplabel.html"); ?> <!-- End ImageReady Slices --> <table border="0" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="0" width="770"> <tr> <td height="600" bgcolor="#c1c1c1" width="20%" valign="top"> <!-- Left Side Column --> <? require ("left_column.html") ?> <!-- End Left Side Column --> </td> <td width="60%" align="center" valign="top"> <!-- Main Content . . . --> ... etc. the toplabel.html are my image ready slices for our logo and top menu the left column.html is for the left side menu bar all the pages in the site make these calls. My htaccess file is like this; AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php .html .htm AddType x-mapp-php4 .html .php .php3 .php4 .inc .htm AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .shtml .html .htm AddType application/x-httpd-php .html I need to get the server to parse the files like the server is is currently live on at 1&1 hosting. The server there with parse the php code embedded inside of HTLM docs. and will parse the HTLM code embedded inside the PHP files. What I have now does neither. Any ideas? Update; Found out that IIS does not use .htaccess file for directory managment, these changes where for not... I'm looking into the application mapping in IIS Manager, think the answer might lie in there somewhere... Hello im new here its good to be here I need your help! I am now learning HTML because i realised how important it is...and im stuck in this thing PHP Code: var alternateContent = 'Welcome to mywebsite' + 'Please download Flash Player to view content.' + '<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/">Download Flash</a>'; document.write(alternateContent); // insert non-flash content } // --> </script> <img src="Html_logo.jpg" alt="" width="273" height="46" longdesc="http://Html_logo.jpg" /> </body> </html> this is part of the code ...didnt post it all since it was too much... What i need to do is to color the text yellow "Welcome to my website . Please download Flash Player to view content" I tried <FONT COLOR = "######"> but didnt work... Also how do i add the HTML_logo Above the text ..? Any ideas? I have a PHP application that our company uses for basically everything. Now I'm needing to add hyperlinks to folders on the shared drive on the server, since this is now where everyone will be storing the files they work on. The map drive is on the same server as the website but so far I have been unable to figure out the syntax for the hyperlink in order to be able to open the folder contents. Any ideas on how I could do this? At present i am creating a knowledge base at work and have an admin access link that goes to a folder on a server. What i want is client or server side html to request a password when this link is clicked and if the password is not correct then a message box shows that says the password is incorrect. Can anyone help? yes i was wondering if there is a way that i could make my program when the new option is selected from the drop down menu automatically make a new folder in a certain folder on my computer. is there any way to do that. I apoligise for what may seem a basic question but I have built a very large website in HTML 4.0, which runs fine in both IE7 and Firefox 3. Out of habit, I put the first letter of each name - folder, file, and image, in upper case. I have been told, however, that I shouldn't have done that as it could cause problems with some browsers. As there really is a very large number of folders, files, and images that I would have to change, and because the website works fine with IE7 and Firefox, I thought I'd ask what forum members know (or think). I've looked in my book on HTML and searched the Internet but have not managed to find the answer anywhere. TIA Tyger Hello, I need some help to get a HTML file to load from a PHP file. Skattered Pictures how do i sync my html files after changeing the code in the index? *** I'm still a rookie here, so I hope this post is correctly placed.*** I am working on a web site, and I need to clean the code. The WYSIWYG program I was using crashed and I was left with an older program to work with. It generated at least some bad code, and I really want to clean things up. I've found some sites online that analyze HTML files, but they don't highlight the bad tags (you still have to go fishing for them). I also haven't found any HTML repair programs that seemed to work. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I just don't want this code-cleaning process to become a 40-hour project, and I'll welcome any ideas for keeping things simple. I'm a bit overwhelmed right now, and I just don't have it in me to do this by hand, character by character. I'm also wondering if anyone has thoughts about any of the free alternatives to Dreamweaver. I found a site that mentions a few. http://blog.webdistortion.com/2008/0...o-dreamweaver/ Any replies appreciated. I am having some problems with my template, I have to upload it a few times before it work. Seems like when I've edited and upload it, it doesn't change the files link to it. This can't be due to me linking them wrongly, cause they used to work before after a few tries. But i've been trying for a few days with no success. Any advice? Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nevermind i managed to solve it, I have to click save instead of letting dreamweaver do it automatically before it automatically updates the rest of the link file. I had a weird experience today that I was hoping others might shed some light on. I emailed a person a link to a powerpoint pps file and it opened full screen as planned. I also placed that link on an intranet web page and it opened in 'edit' mode. How come? Is there something I'm missing on code necessary to ensure the same URL opens properly and in full screen mode ???? The link was very similar to this where page code is concerned... <dd><li><a href="http://mail.yahoo.com/?.intl=us" TARGET="_top">Yahoo Email</a><p> Might it have something to do with 'target' ??? TIA Hi I have an unusal problem. I have a rather large document written in Word that I need to convert to HTML files. I would love to use HTML Help, however I cannot use compressed files, I need to have strictly HTML flat files. I would like to know if anyone has every created help files without using a .CHM file. If so how difficult is it and what are the steps involved. I am in hopes that I can simply create a CSS file and save the document as a HTML file. I have no problem opening the file from a browser but now I would like to make it appear like a help file with bookmarks and maybe even a search feature later down the road. For now I would be extremely happy with bookmarks. Can I go directly into the source and create bookmarks? Or is there more to the help file that is created by CHM files? Thanks in advance for any assistance or suggestions. Ok i am fairly new to HTML and iam needing some help with some Java Script files, and a html code that works with them. You can download the files from the following address: http://game-pass.co.cc/js.rar In the archive there is a html document named 'candystand.html' and 13 java script files that work with the html file. The thing iam trying to do with the files is make a game called Candystand Billiards work. Whenever i load the html file with the js files on my website server the game doesnt load properly, it only loads to where it says adobe shockwave player then freezes. I also need the html file trimming so that the only thing in there is the game and the game commands, not the layout of the website i got it off. You can find the game at the following address: http://www.candystand.com/play/billiards-classic Any help on this will be appreciated. Once the web page, still under construction, has taken shape and is going through font styling etc, is it normal just to open the html in IE and change the contents from View/Source or should I always edit the file in Notepad and then save back to html? Is there a way to create names of reports and place in a list box or combo box and select the report and click a button to open the report? I also have added a link to a file ( that would be on the server) for the user to open the file, but I click the hyperlink the file does not open. <a href="Attrition (2).doc">Attrition</a><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> Hi, I was wondering how i can link to my script file instead of having it stored in the head. At the moment i am only using javascript and i dont like it in the head because it looks messy. My site has 2 columns and the script simply makes sure colum 1 and column 2 always have the same height to retain the layout because i'm using background images. I have saved the script in as scripts.js and it looks like this. Code: function fixH(one, two) { if (document.getElementById(one)) { var lh=document.getElementById(one).offsetHeight; var rh=document.getElementById(two).offsetHeight; var nh = Math.max(lh, rh); document.getElementById(one).style.height=nh+"px"; document.getElementById(two).style.height=nh+"px"; } } window.onload=function(){ fixH('column1','column2'); } Ok now back in my html head where i would usually put the actual script i have put: Code: <script src="scripts.js" type="text/JavaScript"></script> I was hoping this would work but it doesn't seem to be working. When i preview the page locally in IE6 it pops up to say something has been blocked which i guess is the javasript. Maybe i need to upload to web server and test but wanted to post here to see if i did it correct in the first place. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any help is much appreciated. |
