Hi everyone, New to this site so I hope i can get some helpful tips. I'm kinda new to HTML so here are my questions. Thank you. Hi Experts, I am designing a webpage where based on the year selection the associated years webtable needs to be displayed in the webpage. Pls give som suggestions and if possible the code on to how to code this using HTML and Jav Script. I know I have to write afunction and then call the fn based on the input.but need your help on this. Thanks, Bsquare I have a paragraph with the same word typed over and over again throughout it, but I dont feel like modifying that word over and over again each time I change it in every single spot that it is located..... example sentence: word that will be typed over and over again: GOOGLE Hello this is my name and I like to use GOOGLE as my search engine, however I think that GOOGLE is not the best search engine but I still use GOOGLE anyway. ----------------------------- Now I want to change it to YAHOO but w/o changing the word each time it shows in the sentence Hello this is my name and I like to use YAHOO as my search engine, however I think that YAHOO is not the best search engine but I still use YAHOO anyway. Am I making sense? Hi, I am a complete HTML novice and as such may lack certain use of terminology that you might take for granted so please allow for that. I have been linking to certain .jsp web pages , and pre-entering the data into the page by putting a "?" after the .jsp part and following it with some code. For example: - Take the page http://logis.korail.go.kr/driveinfo/TrainLocSearchg.jsp. By using the URL http://logis.korail.go.kr/driveinfo/...jsp?carNo=7001 I don't need to type the number 7001 in the form and press the submit button. This works fine on this page, however, for the following page, http://logis.korail.go.kr/driveinfo/...riveGuideg.jsp, I can't seem to get this method to work. I think the names of the fields in the form are as follows: - stYukCd wbMd1 wbMd2 trnKind trnNo trnUpDn I can't however get any of these fields to auto-fill by using this method. Any ideas? Thanks Damian Code: <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" id="NavigationBar1"> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top" width="117" height="31"><a href="www.conflict-gamers.net/forums"><img id="bv01002" src="bv01002.gif" alt="" align="top" border="0" width="117" height="31" onmouseover="SwapImage(1,0,'bv01002','bv01002_over.gif')" onmouseout="SwapImage(0,0,'bv01002','bv01002.gif')"></a></td> </tr> </table> and this is the image i want in there. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/406...onforumfl2.jpg Can anyone help please. Hi All, first post in the forum. I would like to know if it is possible to create a drop down list from which the user could select a value but could also decide to enter a new one ? What I want is to offer the user to select an existing company name or enter a new one, but I would like to have only one field to do it instead of two. Is this possible Thanks for helping. ALex Hi, I'm learning about horizontal lists. I'm trying to position a string ("Stuff" in the code snippet) a given distance (say 100px) to the right of the last item in a horizontal list, on the same line as the list. How do I do this? The following code snippet, using CSS for the UL and LI tags with a WIDTH specification for the UL tag, results in a BREAK between the last list item and the string "Stuff", as shown below: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Books Posters Stuff. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Code Snippet: Code: <HTML> <HEAD> <STYLE> li { float: left; padding-right: 32px; padding-left: 32px; } ul { list-style-type:none; width=300; } </STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <UL><LI>Books</LI><LI>Posters</LI></UL> Stuff. </BODY></HTML> In fact the only way to not have a BREAK between the last list item and the string "Stuff" is to remove the WIDTH specificaton from the UL tag altogether, but then the string "Stuff" cannot be positioned a given distance to the right from the last list item--it just goes the default distance. So how can text trailing a horizontal list be positioned a specific distance to the right of the horizontal list on the same line? Thanks very much for any help you can provide. Thanks, Dave I have been looking everywhere for code for this. What i have is a list menu where the user will select an item, then i want something to appear in the text box below it, depending on what is selected. I have been looking for 'if statements' but i cant get anything to work. e.g. if the list box "test" is selected then the text box should say "test1". if the list box "test2" is selected then the text box should say "test2" Please can someone help me out. Thanks Hi there, I'm new to this forum; got here researching the best method to do a task in HTML dealing with ordered lists. Basically I'm trying to figure out the best method to have the word "Step" precede the number in an ordered list, so that <ol> <li>first line of text</li> <li>next line of text</li> <li>last line of text</li> </ol> would return Step 1. first line of text Step 2. next line of text Step 3. last line of text I know how to do this using background images with CSS, but that isn't ideal because any formatting changes to the text would require making a new gif or jpg for the word "step." Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for your help! HI, The following code HTML Code: <SELECT NAME="TEST"> <OPTION>TEST TEST</OPTION> </SELECT> renders an option with 'TEST TEST'. Even though there are more than 1 white spaces, only single white space is given. How can I over ride this default behavior? Thanks in advance, Chandu. I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with spiceworks but it's a fairly nifty application, and I'm trying to customize a create ticket form. Things work fine for the most part, the problem I run into is when I create a dropdown menu for users to select a "program code" that populates to a text area. From reading the errors I can see what is happening but I just don't know how to fix it b/c of the way in which this textbox is named. My code is as follows. Code: <form name="form1" action="/portal/new_ticket" class="new-ticket" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post" onsubmit="Portal.disableSubmit(this);return true"> <input class="text" id="authenticity_token" name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="pFUDFH3XRBtjFr+p3+pNaSdbkxj8XJAVcgj9BGcUvPo=" /> <h2>For help with an IT issue you are experiencing, please complete the form below.</h2> <select name="menu" onchange="document.form1.ticket[description].value=document.form1.menu.options[document.form1.menu.selectedIndex].value;" style="background-color: transparent; font-size: 10px; color: rgb(0, 102, 153); font-family: verdana;"> <option value="#">Choose Program Code.</option> <option value="01">01</option> <option value="">02</option> <option value="">03</option> <option value="">04</option> <option value="">05</option> <option value="">06</option> <option value="">07</option> <option value="">08</option> <option value="">09</option> <option value="">10</option> <option value="">11</option> <option value="">12</option> <option value="">13</option> <option value="">14</option> <option value="">15</option> </select> <p class="summary"><label>Summary:</label><input class="text" id="ticket_summary" name="ticket[summary]" type="text" /></p> <p class="description"><label>Description:</label><textarea id="ticket[description]" name="ticket[description]" type="text" value=""></textarea></p> <p class="attachment"><label>Optional attachment: </label><input class="text" id="ticket_attachment" name="ticket[attachment]" type="file" /><a href="#" onclick="return Portal.resetHTML($(this).up('p'));; return false;">clear attachment</a></p> <p class="button"><input name="commit" type="submit" value="Submit Request" /><em class="highlight"></em></p> </form> As you can see the name of the textarea is name="ticket[description]" and when I am assigning the value of the user selection to the textarea, onchange="document.form1.ticket[description].value=document.form1.menu.options[document.form1.menu.selectedIndex].value; the syntax b/c of the name is setup for "ticket" to have a variable "description" passed to it and I am then getting the error "description is not defined" which would make sense. I get the code to work if I simply change the name of the textarea to something like "ticket" but then I get an error when I try to submit the ticket in spiceworks, so it appears I need to find a different way of populating the textarea with out changing the name of the textarea. Is there another way to have my dropdown menu populate the textarea, maybe with javascript, where I can keep the name ticket[description] and not have the compiler thinking I'm trying to pass description? Any help is greatly appreciated. I have a big list and I want to show on my webpage 6lines from that list randomly (when webpage is refreshed another 6 lines appear). can anyone help me with he code, how should the list look like so it works...or where can I find more info on this ? thanks I am making a website with a list inside list for my navigation bar. I started with code something like <div align="center"> <ul type="disc"> <li>Wine</li> <li>Women</li> <li>Song</li> </ul> </div> This centers the list on the page, but it also centers each list item. I tried placing a <div align="left"> around the list items, individually and collectively, but depending on the positioning it either had no effect or it nullified the center attribute completely and gave me a left-aligned list on the left edge of the page. Attempts to change the style of the <li> tag, which I haven't done in months and was never all that good at, failed. I know I can do this in ten seconds by putting the list inside a one-cell table, and with much fiddling I could probably do it with a spacer GIF...but what's the 1.0 Strict way? Hi All, I am new to this forum and is expecting an answer for this question. I have implemented a facebook type search to the database which displays the familiar text saved in the database when I type some text in the database. My issue is after I have used the search box for a couple of time the text box starts displaying a similar dropdown from its history which hides my database search. Does anyone know how to disable it using html or css. See the attached Image if my question is not clear. http://www.htmlforums.com/attachment...1&d=1306715905 here is the (ineffective) code currently: <img style="float: left; width: 169px; height: 73px;" src="img/logo1.png" alt="" /> <h1 style="text-align: center;">random text</h1> the image shifts the left margin such that the text is centered as though the page width was 169px less than it really is. i'm not debating the code itself; the code above behaves as its meant to. aka no surprises. i just cant figure out the appropriate code to center the text across the entire real width of the page as though there was no image. i've tried div tags & all the things google hunting advised. no luck. other than finding this forum, which seems like it'll be a boon! thanx in advance for advise/comments/feedback/help. I have several websites that I maintain and update. A lot of them are just textual changes and I would think my customers can do these themselves by editing a simple .txt file. I was hoping my choices are avalable so that I can just insert this tag into my web pages and then give them login info to their edit page or show them how to upload the .txt file. I hope this is an easy one with several answers. Is it possible these tags could discipline your rankings in the search engines? Thanks, Jason i have a lot of text files(2-400) all have quite alot of text inside them so is there some software that can help me convert it all into html pages?? somthing that i am doing right now is: copied all of my text files pasted them into other location and editing each file and giving extention html/htm. now can u tell somthing better?? all the files will open in same frame(obviously one at a time), all have styling n everything same.
