HTML - Format Advice?

Hello i am new to web design and after i made a site i want to put to text inputs on my site and when the quest iputs a number in each text field after he presses a button a msgbox will pop having the answer text1 * text2.

I have recently been asked to run the website for my church. (peacegaylord.org)

If you go there, you will notice how simple it is. If you look at the source, it is REALLY messed up. I asked the previous webmaster and he said all he had done was take the one created in Word by our pastor, and converted some of the tags to work with older browsers. What this leaves me with is very messy and jumbled code.

Now, what I really want to do is to simple re-write the entire site.

If I did this I would: Use a style sheet instead of in-line styling Use non-deprecated tags (Obviously) Change the layout completely General clean-up/re-styling etc.
Note: If I did this, I would try to make the entire thing HTML 5 compliant. However, a large amount of the people that use the site are older individuals, who may have old computers and therefore, old browsers. I know there is a way to make a browser recognize new tags by adding some javascript, but which tags would I have to do this with?

OR I could simply go through and clean the current version up.

What my question is: What would some of you do? If you would do the complete re-write, what kind of things would you add?

I am trying to get my pop-up opt-in form to appear on the left side of the screen, and follow as the reader scrolls down the web page.

My autoresponder is with Aweber, if that is important. All their pop-ups just appear in the center of the screen.

Can someone help me with this?

I'm wanting to make a professional website, close to the look/style of fkn0wned.com but with alot of pages and info. I DONT want someone to be able to steal it so I'm not sure what to code it in, php, css, ect. Whats the best to code in for professional websites? any ideas?

There may not be many believers anymore but its all about and for God and Jesus, and other things such a help with depression, suicide, abuse, ect. Just a place to help people. I already have a few people thats going to help moderate it. Though the other site I made a long time ago, people just kept spamming porn everywhere and I couldnt stop them because they kept changing their IP, so I had to get rid of it. Anyway to stop that?

Hey guys, i have a site i am doing for my final project for college and this is my first site. I like Web design so far and am enjoying it extremely. I would just like your advice on something i have come across.

Please tell me what you think of the site overall (1-10 rating)

Also my professor reviewed it and thought it was overall an A project but would like me to change/add a couple things. For example my banner is too long, what do you think about this? Also i do agree with her on this; that i need more wording on the inspirations page.

How do you guys think i should add this?

Any advice on making this site better and stand out more?

Fist off I am somewhat new to HTML (mainly have used programs like Dreamweaver and such to create web pages). I am wanting to try and advance my skills a bit and create a HTML with some PHP code in it. My question that I have is about webpage formating.
I am wanting to have a header, footer, left column and right column that has the same data in it all the time. The main body of the page however will display whatever information I search for from the mysql database but the rest of the site (footer, header, etc..) I want to display the same each time.

What is the best way of going about this? I am not sure once I click the submit button to load the certain data from the database if I have to create a whole new page or if there is a way to just update the main body of the webpage with the results.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but wasn't sure if it belonged here in HTML or in PHP, I thought here was good.

It is not so easy to help customers design the first page, but the customer said that he hoped to it can meet w3c of xhtml standard. Then I have suffered the Internet to look for some information about the W3C standard. And I found it is very difficult for me to solve the problem.Is there any easier way you can provide us? Hey guys I asked a similar question before about the best way to go with page layouts and the only response I got was to go with one that will properly change with resolutions and browsers, etc..

I am learning and want to develop practical and sound habits from early on. If any of you would be willing to throw me out some good pointers, etc.. That would be great. I'm looking to do a layout with a horizontal header section and below this 2 or 3 columns of varying widths.

This is rough but hopefully you get the idea.

First post here and I hope you guys can help me.

I'm currently helping out a family friend's company with general IT stuff, wether it be designing things for them or website stuff. Now I am by no means an experienced web designer, hence why I came here.

They asked me today if I can make some changes to one of the sites they run, really simple ones at that. All I need to do is update some of the text on the site, change the dates etc. I have access to the ftp, using filezilla, and for the life of me I cannot find the html files I need to change.

Now I obviously don't expect you guys to tell me where they are, but is there a method you would use to track them down? Right now there seems to be a ridiculous amount a folders and files for what seems to be a relatively simple site!

I was wondering if anyone in the forum new the answer to a question that I am trying to resolve? On google, for certain companies, it comes up with the link, the description, the the web address, however, some companies have certain pages underneath that displayed also. Does anyone know how it is done?

Here is an example for a guitar shop in edinburgh that has it: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=

They have 8 different links in google under the search result. can anyone advise me how to do this? I'd be very grateful.
