HTML - How Do You Set The Minimum Width On An Html Frame Within A Frameset?
Is there a way to set the minimum width on html frames which are inside a frameset such that when resizing the frames do not disappear completely?
For example how would you do it in the following? <html> <frameset cols="50%,50%"> <frame src="left.htm" /> <frame src="right.htm" /> </frameset> </html> I have search around for possible answer(s) but I have not found a solution that works. Preferably, I am looking for a solution that works for recent versions of IE, FireFox at least. Thanks. Similar TutorialsMy previous post meantioned that I have made an advert using HTML in a page using a table and I'm using an IFrame to embed this into my main pages where needed. I've hit a real problem this time. The table I've made seems to set its own minimum width for cells. As a result this causes the end cell to slightly spill off the edge of my pages. I have manually changed everything I can possibly think of, and nothing seems to work. In what instance would a table do this? The table is in a form. Inside the table in each cell I have 1 line of text, followed by a input box directly underneath, followed by another input box directly underneith, followed by a text hyperlink directly underneath that. I have the html in the text file attached if you want to have a little nosy (the javascript file referenced is to periodically change the text of the second box in each cell). Any ideas would be much appreciated. I've spent far too much time on this advert than I would have liked... Regards Hi Folks, Is there a way to target the results of a form on one of my pages to a frame in a frameset. I have a form which produces a search on a site I pay to use. I want the results of this search to be in the bottom of a two row frameset. The top row of the framset will have links back to. The form itself is on my main page and is NOT a part of a frameset. Hope i have been clear. I'm assuming I may have to use javascript or php but not sure. All the best, Libman I think I have the same problem, I am setting up a site offering bands a personal page on a local music scene website. the band's page is displayed in a frame when I have created a page for the band i want to offer them a url to directly link to their page but still show the entire frameset (index.html) what would this url be or how woul i go about creating it? would really appreciate the help, cheers! Luke Hi everyone, How can I set a fixed width and height for the whole frameset: Code: <html> <frameset cols="25%,50%,25%"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_a.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_b.htm"> <frame src="http://www.w3schools.com/html/frame_c.htm"> </frameset> </html> I'd like the frameset to be just 400 x 200 px. But when I insert the above code it covers my whole webpage. Also I'd like to put a border around the frameset. Your help is really appreciated! What I would like it to do is instead of using 15% for the right frame I would like to use 180pixels instead, and the left frame should take up the remainder of the page. This frame is different for me though as it uses the stylesheet to supply it's width, height, border, and ect. Greetings, I am trying to prevent the my window from scrolling from side to side and up&down. You can see in my image that the frame has excess information to the right of the screen. I cannot tell if this is b/c of the images or if the problem is in the code. Here is the current code for the page. <!doctype html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title>The works of D.M. D.M. Rosemark Hi, I'm kind of new to HTML and I've been trying to make a website that has 3 frames in it. One frame extends across the entire top of the page and has about a 100 pixel height. The second frame extends the entire length of the page, but only has a width of about 200 pixels. Which leaves the rest for the thrid frame. I'm doing this so that frames one and two don't change and all of the content changes in the third frame. I'm running into an issue, because I cannot figure out how to get one frame extend across the top and one fram extend the length of the page. I can do one or the other but not both. is there any way that I can configure the columns and rows so that the page takes on this look? Thank you. here is a visual of what I'm trying to do: Code: ____________________ | 1 | |__________________| | | | | | | | 2 | 3 | | | | -------------------- /sorry for all the mistakes, I'm not a native English speaker/ I know it may sound sill or wierd for some of you but I'm completly new in html and all those things but I have to do a project in information technology - a website about me. I have to split it into two frames. I did sth like this: <frameset> <frame name="A" src="menu.html"> <frame name="B" src="homepage.html"> </frameset> The thing is - it looks really awful. Look: http://tinypic.pl/i/00001/xmbmjwgb6amg.png Can i delete somehow this horrible line between the frames? I would like to put an image as a backgraund and it won't look good if there's a wide grey line splitting it. Help! My boss has asked me to make a sort of...main user page. The employees will log in to this 'main page' (did this using php) and then they can get access to their time sheets, expense sheets and other things. Im just wondering the best way to do a lay out is.. I need to have the company logo in the top. and then I was thinking a bar just under that with all the different options. then underneath that will appear all the info. Say they pic time sheet, it would appear underneath. I was reading on w3, and I was reading about frames...but when I go to use them phpDesigner v6.2.3, i just get red underlined syntax errors, which leads me to believe they arent correct to use anymore (granted they do get the job done when i preview my page ) If you can tell me what I should research up on, that would be great. I have only been using html, php, javascript, swl for about 3 weeks, so Im no pro by any means oh, by the way, i am using Code: <frameset rows="13%,87%"> that syntax Thanks, Paul hi frds, am speck. am working in software company n write now am working on frames related site. as i dont have much knowledge abt html frames. as this website previously using three frames layout. but as per the instruction i make it two frame index page n while doing this ,i made column n row size to zero for frame that i want to removed. after doing this this website can view perfectly on fire fox but cant see properly on ie. as i dont know abt frame that much i want ur help in this matter. am sending u index page coding . plzzzz help me as i am need !!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------- INDEX PAGE --------------------------------------------------------------- <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Frameset//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/frameset.dtd"> <head> <title>Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> </head> <frameset rows="*" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="0"> <frameset cols="0,*" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="0"> <frame src="onenew.htm" name="leftFrame" scrolling="no" noresize> <frameset id="fset" rows="110,*" framespacing="0" frameborder="NO" border="0"> <frameset id="fset" cols="*" framespacing="0" frameborder="NO" border="0"> <frame id="frm1" name="frm1" src="two.html" scrolling="NO" noresize> </frameset> <frameset id="fset" cols="*" framespacing="0" frameborder="NO" border="0"> <frame id="frm2" name="frm2" src="threenew.html" scrolling="auto" target="_self"> </frameset> </frameset> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes><body> </body></noframes> </html> hi everyone... I have divided a html page in two frames.one is header another is the main page. In main frame there is login form, when i am submitting form it calls the next page in the same frame by default and address in the address bar is not changing because page in the address bar is not changing only main frame is changing. I want that when i submit the form, page containing the header and main frame get vanished and next page should be called without these frames. thanks in advance I used the following code in Firefox-3.0.4 (Full Screen mode) . I have two vertical frames (Video and messenger). In the video frame VLC playing on top of the video frame (Not embedded into HTML). The Video is playing correctly, except sometimes only "a black color background" comig, not always (Within the video frame, vertically left-half/right-half/Full of the frame is black color background) is appearing between VLC-video and Frame. Since I have positioned the video (top:8px; left:57px), I can noticed when above taken place. Actually, in my application VLC is independent of Firefox/HTML.l So I want to avoid the black-color background. I dont want the black color background. Actually, this is happening when skin changes, the code attached is currently having skin_10 (for resolution 1024x768). Similarly changing skin_1 for the same resolution, but cols, and rows only changing. ie. frame size is changing for different skins. (Every skins having different rows and cols) I attached 5 images, 1. bg_skin_1024_768.jpg =>skin background image 2. sample.jpg => a sample required output image. 3.sample_left_black.jpg => Error with left side black background 3.sample_right_black.jpg => Error with right side black background 3.sample_full_black.jpg => Error with full black background Please can anybody know about this issue me? thanks Kanesh <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <HTML> <head> <meta http-equiv="Cache-Control" content="no-cache"> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="0"> <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"> </head> <frameset rows="0,*" cols="*" style="background-color:#ffffff;" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="0" > <frame src="121term_ctrl.php" style="background-color:#ffffff;" name="control" scrolling="NO" framespacing="0" noresize="noresize" > <frameset style="background-image:url('./skin/skin_10/images/1024_768/bg_skin_1024_768.jpg'); background-repeat:no-repeat;" cols="704,*" margin-height="0" frameborder="no" border="0" framespacing="0" noresize="noresize"> <frame transparency="true" src="vp/play_video.php?width=704&height=658&top=57&left=8" frameborder="0" margin-height="0" scrolling="no" name="video" noresize="noresize"> <frame transparency="true" src="./skin/skin_10/messenger.php?width=320&height=768&top=200&left=20" frameborder="0" margin-height="0" scrolling="no" name="messenger" noresize="noresize"> </frameset> </frameset> <noframes> </noframes> </HTML> I have a menu with coffie cup flash menu builder. And i have frames HTML. I know this question as be asked 10000 Times. How do i get the flash menu to go to my main frame page. It keeps opening in its own window a new window or taken up the hole window with out the frames. I tryed eveything including (release) { getURL ("main.html", "main"); } But it still doesnt work but i have no idear how to get this to work I use XSLT to create a html document, and I'm not THAT familiar with html I want to divide my html page in 2 frames via a frameset. For many reasons I only want ONE html document at the end. I want to create totally new html code in the source URL of a frame, this may sound funny, so here is an example: This is how it normaly looks if I'm correct: HTML Code: <frameset cols="400,*" frameborder="yes" border="5"> <frame name = "leftF" src = "2.html"> <frame name = "rightF" src = "3.html"> </frameset> This is something like I want it to be(because I only want 1 html document): HTML Code: <frameset cols="400,*" frameborder="yes" border=5> <frame name = "leftF" src = "<html><body>This is the 1st frame</body></html>"> <frame name = "rightF" src = "<html><body>This is the 2nd frame</body></html>l"> </frameset> I've tried the above without any success. Does anyone know how to do this, or does anyone have an other suggestion (I don't HAVE to use a frameset, but I don't know any other possibility ). Thank you. Hello everybody, Im currently working on a website that requires a message checker of sorts. Basically every 10 seconds a frame on the bottom of the page refreshes, that page checks for new messages and if any messages exist which the user hasnt been told about a dialoge appears. It also shows the total number of unread messages. Heres the problem: Everytime the message checker refreshes it puts an entry in the back history, so if a user sits at a certain page for a minute they would have to hit back more than 6 times to go back one page. For instance thier history would look like this: Message Checker Message Checker Message Checker Message Checker Contacts Message Checker Message Checker Communications Message Checker Is there a way to tell the browser not to register a certain frame in the history? I also made it so the message checker checks to see if anything has changed since the last refresh and if nothing had changed i made it go back a page but that has very mixed results and none of them desireable. Here is the current frameset code: PHP Code: </HEAD> <FRAMESET cols="1055"> <FRAMESET rows="950, 30"> <FRAME name="mainFrame" src='main.php' noresize=true frameborder=0 > <FRAME name="messageFrame" src='messageChecker.php' noresize=true frameborder=0 scrolling=no> </FRAMESET> </FRAMESET> </HTML> And heres the resulting html code from the message checker: PHP Code: <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>RIAC Message Center</TITLE> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="10"> </HEAD> <BODY bgcolor="#ECE9D8"> <SCRIPT language='javascript'> location.href='#messages'; </SCRIPT> <a name='messages'> </a><B>0</B> Open Communications <a href="./myMessages.php" TARGET="mainFrame">View Messages</a> </BODY> </HTML> Also, I tried using javascript code to refresh the page which had the same results. Any Ideas? Hi, I want to hide contents of html page when certain frame is loaed. By hide I mean when The frame get loaded at that time other HTML contents should be hidded with some semitransparent image & only loaded frame should be clickabel. All the other HTML content needs to be inactive. For example <html> <head> <script language=JavaScript> </script> </head> <frameset rows="40%,*"> <frame id="frame1" name="frame1" src="two.htm" /> <frame id="frame1" name="frame2" src="three.htm" /> <frame id="frame2" name="frame3" src="one.htm" onafterload="check()"/> </frameset> </html> when check function is called only frame3 should be visible & rest of the frames & their contents should be hidded with a semitransparent colour shade. & these contents should be unreachable by any means by user!
