HTML - Centering A Deliberately Oversize Pic On A Small Monitor

My site is showing expanded not looking nice in big monitors. Can anyone help please. I think it is a container or sidebar problems. pl see the attachment. I will appreciate your help.

I have a to make web page containing 2 columns. This is done.
Now what I would like to insert in the code is something like this:
The 2 columns should be full screen on any resolutions. Something like the page would adapt to the monitor resolution.
The percent would be 80% for the first column 20% for the se cond one.

What I don't know - is how to do that. Would a table resolve this problem?
What would be the code for this?

Hi, I have a few questions. I use Netscape Composer 7.2 to design my webpage (since it is free), and occasionally insert my own hand-written html code.

1. I have a 22" 16:9 wide-screen monitor. Why do websites waste all the space to the left and right of their content with either a background image or a single solid color? Many sites do this (but not google), such as:

Is it because they are all designed for small laptop monitors? Do most people have 17" desktop monitors these days?

2. What is the html code to shrink my webpage width to make my site look like these sites? Right now, my webpage is the width of whatever the monitor is. I assume I have to use one large table and set an absolute width to whatever??

3. How do I verify that my website looks just as good on a 14" laptop monitor as it does a 25" desktop monitor without having to buy all these monitors or ask friends to use theirs?

I am worried since I just hit the tab or space key on Netscape Composer when I want to indent in a certain manner, and I wonder how this looks to someone using a smaller monitor. I have 17" and 22" monitors myself so I know it looks good on those.

I also put 640 x 480 pics side by side, with text typed on top of each pic. I am worried on a smaller monitor, only one pic may fit, and the text on top will be mixed up.

Hi guys,

I have a bit of a problem!

I have designed a page and got it going, BUT... on some screens it doesn't fit in the browser and others it fits just fine.

When I say 'fits' I mean that everything on the page is in proportion, but is it too big for the screen so you have to use both the side and bottom scroll bars to see everything - on my computer it's all in at once.

I'm sure there's a simple bit of code or something to sort it, but I'll be damned if i know what it is!

I am a small business owner in the process of re-launching my website in WordPress. I am not all that familiar with HTML so I Googled HTML forums and here I am looking for help.

Ok so im trying to align my text at the top of the 2 images i have done.

You can see the 2 images to the left and right and text in the middle.

Im trying to put the text at the top and put a BR tag so it will look like this

But once i put the Br tag in it shows the text breaking down to the next line, In Example 2.

How would i align the text at the top of example 1 with a BR tag so it will be aligned with the images.

The two tables in bold I have an image in both these tables as a background it is a rounded rectangle similar to the background color #f9f5f3 but there is white spacing around the image that I cannot take out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey everyone I'm new here..

I do have a slight problem, and I'm not sure where to look. I have a .swf file that is using a lot of bandwidth right now, mainly about 4GB of bandwidth a day.

I don't mind that it is using that much, but I'm thinking why not put some advertisement links to try to make some money from showing this thing all the time.

It's a little pug licking the screen and people are getting a kick out of it, which is great, but what I want ultimately to be done is instead of going just to the .swf, to possibly redirect, or even add just a advertisement table above the .swf

Hi, this is kind of a weird request but I don't know where to look for it. I want a small slice of window that exists at the top of a page. It has to be big enough for a 100x600 advertisement. But here's the catch, it has to have a "close" feature, and when the user clicks close, the small window slice will disappear.

Ok well I'm coming up to the finishing point of the new Phinfever site, and I just have a bunch of small issues to deal with, mostly with IE. Was wondering if you lovely people here would help me out.

1. The footer text alignment. See this thread: http://www.htmlforums.com/css/t-alig...xt-106876.html

2. Making the text in the sidebar <h3> tags invisible. The CMS doesn't allow us not to put text in the header, as a result I've set the font-size to 0, which should make it invisible... however in IE you can see small dots of white. Is there a work-around for this? RESOLVED

3. The pagination gets cut off at the top in Internet Explorer. It looks fine in firefox but for some reason the top border and a few pixels of the box itself get cut off.

I think that's about all I'm having trouble with right now. I'll use this thread if anything comes up. If you see anything else, be sure to let me know. Thanks!
