HTML - Restrict Page Access To Only One Referring Site
Hi, I am trying to set up a webpage where the only way someone can access it is if they came from my facebook page. What is the easiest way to do this?
thanks in advance. Similar TutorialsHello, I'm a windows app programmer, but don't know too much about HTML. I use Frontpage to maintain my web site. I need to check the referring page, and if it equals what I want, then I need to redirect to another page. OK, to explain further, I've had a web site for years. Lets call it www.p.com. Yesterday, I registered two new domain names, we'll call them www.a.com and www.b.com. I had my web host simply make them pointers directly to www.p.com. So, when users type in www.a.com or www.b.com, they are automatically taken to www.p.com. This is OK...but, it is causing some issues. What I'd like to do is, when the page (www.p.com) is loaded, I want the page to check the page the user came from, such as www.a.com. If it was www.a.com or www.b.com, then I want to re-load www.p.com, so that the page is refreshed so that it actually was www.p.com and not a re-direct from www.a.com. Can I do this? and how can this be done? Many thanks in advance! domls I have a site that I would like to restrict anyone from viewing in a certain part of the US (A state for example) Is this even possible? I don't know if this is a crazy question or not? Any Advice is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. I am a beginner when using HTML so this is probably simple but I cannot find the answer anywhere; apologies. I have thousands of pages each of which has a unique name. I'd like to display an image on each page. The source for the image is always /image/PAGENAME.jpg. The pages are generated by a process I cannot affect (if I could, this would be simple). I am instead left with the final pages each of which requires this customisation. Is there anyway to refer to the page name in the image source tag? HTML does not seem to handle variables and I cannot really see another way around it. I guess I could try creating a script which edited all the pages, but I am not confident enough to be able to write such a script. Any help would be extremely gratefully appreciated, Ben Hi. I'm new to web development, and since I didn't have any luck on google with this I thought I'd ask here. What I need is the ability to allow only one user to access my page at a time, with the access time tied to their account/password. This is not a general web page, and you already have to vpn to get to it so overall security isn't a big deal. The system allows remote control of a few simple machines, and currently if more than one person can get to it simultaneously the last access steals control. Anyway, heres an example: Joe's Time: 1:00 - 3:00 M, cannot login before 1:00 and auto-logout at 3:00 Tom's Time: 3:00 -5:00 M, Bob's Time, etc.. I suspect this might require Java or something, but I don't have the first clue where to start looking. Its a windows box btw, and I don't have control of the user machines so this has to be set up for my local directory. Any hints (or free code if this is a simple/stupid question) are appreciated. Hi, I am trying to restrict access to a certain page on my website. I don't really want to set up a username and password, instead of was thinking of the following 2 things to verify. #1: would be for them to enter an email address that ends in either "@weber.edu" or "@mail.weber.edu". #2: would be for them to have to enter an identification number which must start with a "w" and must have 8 numbers after the w. No more, and no less than 8 numbers. For example: Email address: jay@mail.weber.edu Identification number: W01234567 If those two conditions are met, then they can have access to the page. Any clue how to write the code for that? Thank you very much! hi, im 13, im new to html, and im making a business site. anyway, i have the latest version of Adobe GoLive (if that helps) but i'd much prefer to use plain html code. i need a page that asks for a password and if its correct takes me to a page with stuff on it. can i have a little code plz? =) thanks Hi all I am trying to set up a custom 404 page for when a user visits a broken/error page. I have read several other pages telling me how to do it, and they all pretty much the same thing, however it isnt working. Keep getting this on the page when i enter a broken link: Not Found The requested URL /clients/index.htm was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. I have set up a ht.access text document with the following code: ErrorDocument 404 error-page.html An error-page.html page has also been created. Now, am i even naming ht.access file right? Do i need any other code in the error-page.html to make it work? im going round in circles, getting nowhere, i hope someone can help!! What code do I put in my php file to prevent people from viewing it and remote downloading it? Don't get me wrong, I still want the php file accessible for the viewer to load it and use it but I dont want them view the source code or download it. Thank you. Hello to all, I have a static HTML site, and want to restrict some pages of the that site such that when user click or browse to the link, eg www.website_name.com/some_page.html , he/she should prompt for username and password. How can I proceed to meet this requirement as the site is in html and there is no programming language used in it. Thanks in advance. I have no clue what to title this. Forgive me. Here is my situation. I have a .zip file full of data that I am trying to sell online. I want customers to go to my site, read about the product, and then click BUY NOW. It will take you to AlertPay's page, where you can submit your payment information. After that, I have set it up to return you to a confirmation page which is on my sever. http://myservice.com/thank-you-for-your-order.html On this page, I'll have a link to download the file. The problem is, I don't want people passing out my link "http://myservice.com/thank-you-for-your-order.html" and going directly to the page and download the data without paying for it first. Is there a way that I can restrict people from viewing any one page on my site, if they did not come from a particular inbound server like alertpay.com first? Didn't know if the page could detect what link the viewer came from and push them away... at least with standard HTML code. Just curious... I know how to put code into the site so that it doesn't appear in search engines, but I need to prevent people from bookmarking the page and sending it to friends who refuse to pay. Thanks. Hey everyone, im creating my first site, its an anniversary present for my girlfriend and this is what i want. The first page of my site will have a picture center of the page in the middle. Underneath this i want a login table? with a drop down user name box containing 2 user names "hers" and "mine"and a password box next to that, underneath this a submit button... here is the code i currently have.. <body bgcolor="black"> <img src="\C:\homepage\pics\image1.jpg" width="300" height="300"> </a> <fieldset> <legend> <font color="white"<big><b>Login</b></big> <form action=""> <select name="user"> <option value="name1">name1</option> <option value="name2">name2</option> </select> <font color="white"><b>Password:</b></font> <input type="password" name="password"><br> <input type="button" value="Submit"> </form> <p> </body> Questions: how do i get my picture center middle of the page? how do i set passwords that the site will recognise? how do i get the submit button to launch the next page of my site if the password/s are correct? or am i nuts for my first page? lol and going about this the wrong way? ideas? input? recommendations? cheers LB Hi, i was wondering if anyone could take a look at my website and tell me why there's a border around each page. This one has seemed to stumped me, my webpage he Edit: link removed, problem solved and the other links: Order online, testimonials, about us, and contact us all render exactly in firefox, however my products page gets shoved to the left a couple of clicks for some odd reason. I narrowed it down a bit; it seems as if its only letting me to post a few paragraphs until it does it, meaning i can remove the animation and some paragraphs, and it looks the way i want it, but when I add the paragraphs back even without the slideshow the problem persists. Using expression web 3. Thank You a bunch for your help. PROBLEM SOLVED Hi, How can I link to a directory inside my website so it shows inside my page instead of alike you just link to the directory. Thanks Neeraj Sharma neeraj10786@rediff.com Hello I'm trying to create a page, when its someone's first time opening the web site they get asked if they are under 18 or not and if they are over 18 and enter the site, and the next time they come to the site, it would by pass the age page. Is there anything that I can read that would help me create it? Please give me any suggestion that you have. Thank You Ok, This might be a bit confusing but ill try my best. On my main website homepage i have a splash image which when clicked redirects to the main website, also in another folder i have a phpbb3 Forum. Below the image on my homepage i have a login box for the forum as well. What i would like to do is to hide that login box unless a keyword is entered before hand, and make the domain.com/forum URL inaccessible unless you login through this route. basically hiding the forum completely so people dont actually know its there. I could do this through .htaccess however i was hoping there was a "cleaner" way to do this. Many Thanks Rob Hi Guys, I have a simple question, I havent done any web/html stuff for a long time, ive totally forgotton how to do everything. At the moment im working on a small project, I was thinking of running it off a database but I think its way to complicated even for that as all I need is a single html page that populates with information that I have when certain inormation is entered. Basically its a contact list, name, number, ID, landline fax number etc. I have a list of about 400 names which I want to be searched by a ID and state, so for example, theres 2 data entry boxes, one is a drop down box of states and the next is a text entry field where you enter the ID (3 digits) once selected, it populates another text field with the information. I want all the info to remain on a single page, or maybe the info on another page and displayed on the main page when the propriate ID number is entered. Id prefer it this way as I can easily edit the page with text. I dont think a database is appropriate, as I need to run this locally. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get this done? Id appreciate any help. Thanks alot |
