Similar TutorialsHi everyone, Our website:- alternativeroutefinance.co.uk - has some issues with moving elements. The problem seems to be with Widescreen monitors, as well as the Firefox browser. I'm not quite sure what the problem might be, does anyone have ANY idea? Feedback would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Nick I've had problems validating my site. I am getting this error multiple times: document type does not allow element "span" here; missing one of "ins", "del", "h1", "h2", "h3", "h4", "h5", "h6", "p", "div", "pre", "address", "fieldset" start-tag. This also occurs for "br", "a", "input", and "hr". All of these tags are already in div tags. I've also tried to surround them in p tags, but I still got the same error. There are no other validation errors with my site. Thanks. Hi! I have a flash website that is a little heavy (loads a little slow) so basically my idea is to create a flash intro that is light and might load fast on top of my current flash site..so that the flash intro plays while the site itself loads behind it. and then the flash intro would be done playing and disappear and will expose the main flash site behind it. I don't want to do a separate page for intro and main site though as it basically will give the same loading time. i want it to load together the main site behind at first then will be exposed after the flash intro is done. I was thinking of using z-index to put the flash intro on top white the site loads and put make the flash transparent after it's done playing.. but my i think if i do that the main site behind would not be functional(clickable) because of the overlaying object (which is only transparent) is there a way that i can make the object totally disappear after it's done playing? not just making it transparent... or is there any other way to do this? actionscript? java? anything? curtain? container? how is it possible... please help... Thanks guys. I'm having a problem finding out how to turn off flash intro at Classic Kelli Maroney. http://kellimaroney.com/#on_the_web I think I have to change something in the "head" part of the edit page. <html lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Kelli Maroney | Welcome to the Kelli Maroney Website, for all things Kelli Maroney</title> <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> Thanks Tom Hey guys, Ive seen this done a few times but, how would I go about having a random flash video intro page. i.e. Everytime the user refreshes the page a different flash movie appears (chosen randomly from a folder). Thanks! Hi all Have a really big prob with intro page. Its like this i want a background picture and then i need a picture in the middle of page as link . The code i got now is here. HTML Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>BlackCode Security</title> <BODY BGCOLOR="#000000"> <a href="http://designz.se/BlackCodez/news.php"<IMG SRC="1.jpg" WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=100% BORDER=0 ALIGN="fixed"> <meta name="description" content="BlackBox Secureity : Our Business Is Your Business"> <meta name="keywords" content="Security ,security news ,firewalls ,virus ,Tutorials ,networking ,forum support"> <meta name="copyright" content="Copyright BlackBox Security - 2008"> <meta name="author" content="BlackBox Security"> <meta name="email" content="info@designz.se"> <meta name="Charset" content="other"> <meta name="Distribution" content="Global"> <meta name="Rating" content="General"> <meta name="Robots" content="INDEX,FOLLOW"> <meta name="Revisit-after" content="1 Day"> <meta name="ROBOTS" content="ALL"> </head> <body> I hope someone can help me and new here so be kind Hi all, Ive been using the X11 colour set found on this link below, and it contains some interesting colours but would it be possible to use more colours than shown? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors I was looking to make a table with 20 shades of blue as different backgrounds, would that be possible for example? Thanks! Hello! I've got a question regarding proper header usage. First, I'd like to describe how I want my page to look like (both layout-wise and semantically): Code: [ Short description] TITLE OF BOOK Short description here... blah blah blah... Once upon a time... Summary here... [ User Reviews] Review #1 Review #2 Now, the text in brackets [ ] is basically the description of the next text section. Intuitively, I'd use <h1> for them, because they are the top-most headers. But here are the problems: I've read on more than one occasion that it is good for SEO to have a meaningful text inside <h1> that describes the page content. If <h1> contains just "Short Description" or "User Reviews" and that on every book review page, this is bad. The more appropriate way to do this, it seems, is to use <h1> for the BOOK TITLE only, and use something else to introduce sections. So something like HTML Code: <h2>Short description</h2> <h1>BOOK TITLE HERE</h1> <h2>User Reviews</h2> but this also seems like a bad idea. So, how do it correctly (with respect to HTML and SEO) without having to redesign my layout in any way? (That is, I don't want to put the book title anywhere else, e.g. not above the section title) Thanks in advance Hi all, I thought you might find this report of interest... It is released by www.handsetdetection.com every month and basically gives an insight into mobile web usage and in particular, which are the preferred handsets for consumers to surf the mobile web, by Country. If you are looking to better understand the growing mobile web sector, and the implications that this has on web marketing, design and development, the data is quite useful. Which application offers the right tools for this UML diagram? I'm more to dreamweaver and currently i can't do the UML diagram using this application. Does dreamweaver need any plugin or i need to get an appropriate software for UML diagramming? best regards, najeeb I have a webpage that has about 100 links on it. All of them point to the same 900+ page document, but go to a different page. This document changes, so that a page may get added prior to a certain page. because of that, I'd prefer not to have to hardcode each of the 100 page numbers. I'd like to have a rolling reference page, so that if the first link started on page 150, and the second link would go to page 155, then I'd like for it to be #page=var1+5. Here is the hardcoded version that I've started creating: <a href="http://.../PDF_file.pdf#page=155">O15_test_setup .... page 5-16</a> the #page=155 would be indicative of the second link above. I'd like to set up an array that i can use in the href tag for each of these links, that will allow me to goto the correct page. and if a page gets added, then it would only take one change to update the file. I've also looked for a way to open the PDF file, and search for the "O15_test_setup" text, but haven't found a way to do that. My thought of how it could be done is with javascript, declare the array, and fill in the array. Something like array(1,1) = first link text (http://...pdf_file.pdf#page=150) array(1,2) = first link displaytext (O14_test_setup) array(2,1) = second link text (http://...pdf_file.pdf#page=155) array(2,2) = first link displaytext (O15_test_setup) Then in the HTML part of the file, have something like <a href = array(1,1);array(2,1)> What is the correct way to do this? hy allz!i really need a forum for an website not a comercial just a dumb school project and i don't know how to create one can someone give me a forum pls???a simple pls pls Not having a huge amount of HTML experience, I wondered if anyone would be able to give me a hand. What I'm trying to create is a form that uses the GET input data as part of a predetermined url, so it would take you to "http://desiredsite.com/[INPUT TEXT]". I don't need the site to change at any point, just the specific directory. I would prefer to approach this in plain old html but I guess a script may be necessary. In case it is relevant, the page I am making is staying local so there is no cgi or anything presently available. I would be greatly appreciative of any help. Thanks! I know it takes a long time to create such a thing but I was not told about the fact I had to create a forum until now. I have 2 or 3 weeks to create a forum for an economical awareness group at my school. I am the only one with any HTML experience but I have never created a forum. If someone could help me I will love them forever. An outline, guidelines, or tutorials would be awesome. If you want you can also e-mail me with information.(crazedpandabear@gmail.com) Thank you greatly for any help anyone gives. ^^ sorry if this has been answered.. its late at night and have been scouring the net/chat sites for some answer to this issue but alas i yield no results... im working on a clan website where we want to create a text area form which is simple enough.. but its what i want to do with it that im having a little trouble.. were running joomla 1.5 and im pretty much self taught on design so as far as jargin trying to word how i want it is prolly my downfall.. anyway.. like i said we want a text area but im thinking individual fields would work better but upon submission is it possible to send the information to an html document on my webserver that i can use a wrapper to call up.. but i want the data displayed in a list format.. what sites or possibly just some functions that i can use/look up to make the data posted in list format.. but also i want it to be called up in .. for the sake of permissions lets say an author to view the person applying and either allow or deny using a menu option on their user menu.. but basically i need the form output to go to a page on the front end so the person applying can see that theyve been entered and check on their status with ease. thanks in advance Hi, I am a beginner in HTML. I would like to create an HTML email form with following specification: - Design a small page like an email form. the contents of From are, a dropdown list of recepients, Subject, message body also. Sending email should be self (outlook should not be used) - When user press submit, it should go to the designated recepient as html. the content should appear in the recepient's computer like an HTML news letter. What should i do to achieve this? Please provide me some step-by-step procedure. Please remember, I dont want to use ASP for this. I appreciate all of yours help. i'm new to the world of html and need a little help on something. i create emails for companies to communicate w/their clients that mainly consist of a colored background w/ colored text/fonts. the initial problem was getting the colors to be displayed at the receiving addresses. but i learned how to increase the table and managed to have the chosen background color to display. this is the code for that: <table border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 width="98%" bgColor=#54726d> <tbody> <tr> <td> the problem i'm still having is getting the text color to display. as of now it shows as black. the font displays, but not the color. this is important, as i usually use a dark background w/light colored text. if the text is black it is hard to read. and i'd also like to know what in the above code made the background display at all. before the above code was added the bgcolor was in the 'body style' section of the code and did not show in the receiving addresses. i am curious about this, as i receive many emails w/colors and borders. (my test receiving email addresses are gmail, hotmail, and excite) thanks! rich Hello friends, As a Newbie..
