HTML - Peek At Some Page,replace Tags,then Render In My App.
hello, I'm new on this site.
I am making a c# app with web surfing in mind. I asked on 3 c# forums about a question I have but I am not satisfied with their answers. So I came to you too. I want to be able to clean a page(get rid of some tags), that is loading in my webBrowser control, before is rendered inside it. i DON'T want to load it into a string, because if I do that, I must remake the page. I need something that can peek at some page,but not consume it, search for some specific tag, replace/delete it, then allow the "new" page to be finally loaded in my browser. How to achieve this, using html or javascrispt or whatever? I can't explain better than that. Thank you. When I remove the <span> tags, I will need an alternative html tag to replace the <span> tag. I thought I had finished it today while viewing it in firefox on my mac, but when I went to view it on internet explorer on a PC the page is not rendered properly! i don't know what to do! can anyone help? this is the first time i've had this problem & ive been looking at this code for far too long now. it all looks like gobbledy gook to me now!! arrggghhhhhh. so frustrating! penny I am hoping that someone from this forum might be able to help me. I have a site based off of php and recently installed an add on in the form of a portal page. I have been working with the developer of the portal add on and we are both stumped as to why I am having a specific problem. Here is the portal page: https://www.gunsgrubandgold.com/forum/portal.php If you notice the page renders PERFECT in Fire Fox, however in IE8 the information boxes are all squashed together. If I use this in the overall header Code: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" /> Then the page renders perfect in IE8 but then I have issues in the text box area when posting of having the cursor scroll up (which I guess is an IE8 issue) If I use this in the overall header Code: <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> then the portal page in IE8 is "squashed together" but the text box area for posting works as it should. Could someone please take a look at the portal index page I linked above and let me know why it renders perfect in FF but not IE8??? I've been trying to get a design to work properly under Firefox for several days. Unfortunately because of ip issues I can't post any code. The basic problem is that I tell a table that I it to have height: 100% and it won't do it. Sometimes (not always) the table renders in such a way such that it is less than 100%. <table><tr><td><table class="gimme_some_height_already">...blah blah</table> Here's the annoying part. The problem is intermittent and goes away every time when I hit refresh under Firefox. Why should the page render differently just because I hit refresh? Also, when the table doesn't render properly, the links don't work. I have standard, nothing special <a> links inside the table. When the table is misrendered and I click on a link, instead of transferring to that page, the table just gets bigger! It's as if the table were in a very delicate state, and if someone touched or sneezed on it the whole page would move and rerender. Very strange. None of this happens under IE. I know that many people think that when IE and Firefox disagree that I ought to go with what Firefox says, but really hitting the refresh buttons shouldn't make the page look different. Does anyone know what is going on, and perhaps how I could go about fixing it? I've tried many variations, trial and error combinations and dirty tricks. Hi, Quite some time ago I was faced with putting a website together for the first time for a local community group (my wife nominated me!). Rather than tell you all what it contains and how it looks, it is probably easier for me to give you the link which is the Friends of Clifton Park based in South Yorkshire, UK. This website consists of eight html pages. The first is the index, second is the welcome page and the rest are linked pages via links on the left. On every of the "linked" pages, only the main body changes, with the exception of each link showing in Caps and link disabled. The problem I'm having is that every single one of the linked html pages are the same, except the displayed text. 90% is the page set-up. So my question is: Is it possible to "import" the required text information when a link is clicked on straight into the main body of ONE html page? btw, you'll notice that the page height isn't fixed, it expands depending on amount of information in it. I have tried IFRAME but don't really seem to be getting anywhere as I can't seem to make the height auto-adjust. A specified height value has to be entered for each "page". This is no good as more information will be needed to be put on. So basically what I am trying to do is: Keep the index.html Change the welcome.html to display the main page (graphics/images, etc) Import text into main body into the welcome.html page when a link is clicked on. Thus reducing the need of duplicate html pages and just having text files containing the main body text. The main reason for wanting to do this is a) stop all the duplication of page set-up in each html file, and b) make it easier for the guy that wants to add information where needed, straight into notepad (txt file) and upload it to the website. Hi, I have a website in which the menu is the same on all pages (http://www.hiltrain.com) I have set this up so that the menu item is in bold to identify the specific page the viewer is on. This works perfectly in function and is set up by using: <body id="help"> and then using the same id in the link code, e.g. <a href="howwecanhelp.htm" id="help"> In the css file I have an entry: body#help a#help, font-weight: bold; This gets the menu item for that page to be in bold and this works fine. However this doesn't vaildate well as according to the W3C standards I can't use the id twice. I am programming a page where many images load. It happens that the next time you visit the page, updated images with the same filename should load, but the older version of the image loads instead. I am guessing that it finds the image in the cache, with the same filename, and loads that one, thinking it's the image it's looking for. I'm using Dreamweaver if that helps, but could someone point out or explain why the background of the footer (where the about us/contact us) is floating at the top in the navigation bar? I've been staring at it but can't figure it out. i'm looking for a cheap way out of making collapse/expand code. i've learned a lot of 'ghetto' techniques n thought mayb i can use something similar to the html tricks i've learned in the past. the theory i have is.. i use the title of the collapse/expand text as a link to the text below it to open and close by using the navigating tags: Code: <a name="content">opening/closing text here</a> and the title above the content: Code: <a href="#content">Title</a> to open the area of text. now my idea of a shortcut around the whole css/html/javacript combo is to make the text below it use a Code: <font size=0>content</font> at default and have the href title link change the font size to the default 9pt but I don't know if that's even possible. Is it possible with the Code: <div> tags? and if so, using that, would i still b able to make a link like that? I'm sure there is a simple answer to this or I hope so. I am trying to read an HTML file from a file system and render it. What would be the fastest way to read and render such a HTML file? Tried iFrame and setting the inner HTML of a div tag. But both were equally slow. (surprisingly iFrame was better) Is it possible to trigger the action of a form with a submit button that's outside the form tags? If so, how should this example be rescripted to make the input tag work outside the form tags? It works as expected in Firefox, Internet Explorer versions 6 and above, and Opera. If you click here to view the site, it is the text on the left-hand side underneath the navigation menu that is proving problematic. This text is supposed to appear directly beneath the navigation menu, but when the site is viewed in Safari or Google Chrome, it appears at the very bottom of the page, where the blue background is. I have run the code through the W3C validator and after a bit of alteration, it came back saying there's no errors. What makes it confusing is that I didn't write the code myself and it is mainly table-based (I inherited it from a previous web developer). I am currently working on a brand new layout for the website which will solve the accessibility problem completely, but for the time being we have to continue using the current layout. Does anyone know if there's a quick fix which will get the text on the left-hand side to display correctly in WebKit browsers? TEST PAGE: www.myspace.com/greeksaladhandles If you look at the comments section in Firefox, it's fine. It is scrolling as it should do, with just a Y-scrollbar. However, if you move to IE, the comments section is not acting as though it's confined to a space at all, there are no scroll bars and the section just overlaps what is below it. I have asked a few people who are more experienced, but nobody can quite work out how to solve the problem. A coworker passes by and says his friend, a professional web designer, says tables are old-school and I should use div tags instead. I've read a lot of discussion online about how horrible it is to use tables for layout because they are not "supposed" to be for layout (even though they WORK for layout). I have also read a lot about how div layouts like to break, something tables don't do (as much?). I use dreamweaver, and all its pre-made templates use tables, not divs. Divs also look like a lot of work, since there seems to be a ton of css that has to go into making the divs act like table cells (and I am VERY new to css!). The one thing that keeps going through my mind is, why go through so much trouble getting divs to act like tables when I can just write a table? Kind of like trying to genetically engineer oranges to look and taste like apples.... So, should I banish my tabled layout for a layout done with divs, even though my tabled layout looks fine and works fine? I really don't want to quite table layouts, but I also want to learn to do things the "right" way, and if divs are the only "right" way to build a page layout.... Help? Also, are there any good online tutorials on how to "properly" build a div-based layout, one that won't break in different browsers? ~Seij I created a web site at www.suncityrnc.com using frames and it doesn't seem to be getting any respect from search engines like google. If I look at the google cache for my website it just shows my message for browsers that don't handle frames. That is, "This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.". So I get it, crawlers don't like frames! Now I just want to know the best way to rewrite my web site without using frames. I don't want to use PHP or any fancy scripting languages that are going to depend on a server if possible (it's not my server). I would also like to maintain as much of the structure of the html files, and the look and feel of the web site as possible. I would appreciate any help, ideas, or direction anyone has on this topic. I want to change the scrollbar to something else in my IFRAME on my html webpage. I need it to work in FF and IE and I don't only want to change the colors etc, I want to change the complete look!
