HTML - Copy Button Question (inline Frame)
Hello,
First off let me say thanks for checking this posting out. I am sort of stumped on this one however. My question is I have an inline frame that is holding data from a txt file. What I would like to do is take the data the inline frame is displaying and copy it to the clipboard using a button. Below are links to the images and the code I am using... Bascially you see the copy button, I want to click that and it copy the text thats in the inline frame to the clipboard so I can paste it elsewhere, like in word (just an example) Code: <html> <head> <title>SCWC Responces</title> <style> body { margin: 20px; background: #eee; } iframe { width: 700px; height: 300px; border: 1px solid #ccc; background: #fff; } </style> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- function FP_swapImg() {//v1.0 var doc=document, args=arguments, elm,n; doc.$imgSwaps=new Array(); for(n=2; n<args.length; n+=2) { elm=FP_getObjectByID(args[n]); if(elm) { doc.$imgSwaps[doc.$imgSwaps.length]=elm; elm.$src=elm.src; elm.src=args[n+1]; } } } function FP_preloadImgs() {//v1.0 var d=document,a=arguments; if(!d.FP_imgs) d.FP_imgs=new Array(); for(var i=0; i<a.length; i++) { d.FP_imgs[i]=new Image; d.FP_imgs[i].src=a[i]; } } function FP_getObjectByID(id,o) {//v1.0 var c,el,els,f,m,n; if(!o)o=document; if(o.getElementById) el=o.getElementById(id); else if(o.layers) c=o.layers; else if(o.all) el=o.all[id]; if(el) return el; if(o.id==id || o.name==id) return o; if(o.childNodes) c=o.childNodes; if(c) for(n=0; n<c.length; n++) { el=FP_getObjectByID(id,c[n]); if(el) return el; } f=o.forms; if(f) for(n=0; n<f.length; n++) { els=f[n].elements; for(m=0; m<els.length; m++){ el=FP_getObjectByID(id,els[n]); if(el) return el; } } return null; } // --> </script> </head> <body onload="FP_preloadImgs(/*url*/'button13.jpg',/*url*/'button14.jpg')"> <p align="left">Please Choose The Appropriate Response :</p> <ul> <li><a target="show_file" href="SCWC_NO_SUPPID.txt">No 5-Digit Supplier Code</a></li> <li><a href="NO_INVALID_SPONSOR.txt" target="show_file">Ticket Reject;Invalid Sponsor</a></li> <li><a href="2ND_LEVEL_SUBMISSION.txt" target="show_file">2nd Level General Responce</a></li> </ul> <iframe name="show_file" width="844" height="300"></iframe> <p> <img border="0" id="img1" src="button12.jpg" height="20" width="100" alt="Copy" onmouseover="FP_swapImg(1,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button13.jpg')" onmouseout="FP_swapImg(0,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button12.jpg')" onmousedown="FP_swapImg(1,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button14.jpg')" onmouseup="FP_swapImg(0,0,/*id*/'img1',/*url*/'button13.jpg')" fp-style="fp-btn: Brick Column 9" fp-title="Copy"></p> </body> </html> -WinUser2003 Similar TutorialsHi I work at a helpdesk and we are creating a knowledge base of all of our information. We are currently trying to develop a way to track the steps that the agents have completed within the knowledge document. Therefore, someone brought up the bright idea that after each step or beside each step that there will be a check box. Once the agent clicks that check box the information from that step would be logged as a log comment within our ticketing system. Now we can move the data into the log comment field without a problem but we are running into the issue of copying the selected text with check box. Could anyone assist with the coding? hello everybody! I want to know if is possible to: set a link to another page which has an inline frame (e.x. name="I1") and change the inline frame source. Thanks Hey guys, im completely new to web development, as in, i've literally never tried it before so im hoping you guys can help me I have a local HTML and, basically, it has 2 text boxes and one button. now the button currently takes you to another page, but i want that button to copy the text from the second text box to my clipboard, so i can paste it into another document i have adobe dreamweaver cs5 but im willing to pick up any other software i might need to pull this off all help appreciated! I am trying to hide part of my blogger header in a frame. i tried to put a negitive value for the marginheight but that did not work. any help is much appreciated. thanks <html><head></head> <frameset border="0" frameborder="0" framespacing="0" rows="100%,*"> <frame marginHeight=-20 src="http://glue.blogspot.com" > </frameset> </html> Hello All, This one has me stumped. I have a frame dividing my screen into two sections, a top window and a bottom window. Here is my frame file: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html><head><title>Table One</title></head> <FRAMESET Rows="148,100%"> <frame noresize src="table_hdr.html"> <frame src="table_one.html" NAME="Lower""> </FRAMESET> </html> When I open this in a full screen view, it works perfectly. I can scroll down my table and the header stays put. My problem comes when I open my table in a window that is too narrow to display the full width of the table. A horizontal scroll bar properly appears at the bottom of the page so I can move left or right to view individual columns in the table. However, I would like to lock the header, top window, so that as I scroll horizontally with the horizontal scroll bar, the header moves left and right with the body, no separate horizontal scroll bar needed for the header. Is this possible? Or am I breaking some sort of law of physics? Any help appreciated. I thought I had cracked this nut a couple of years ago but can't find the file. Charlie i am having some major thinking problems here and can't figure out how to get this page: HTML Code: <html> <head> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> <title>New Page 1</title> </head> <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function browser_check() { var name = navigator.appName; var version = parseInt(navigator.appVersion); go(name, version) } function go(name, version) { if(name == "Microsoft Internet Explorer" && version >=4) { location.href="ief.html" } else { location.href="ff.html" } } </script> <body onLoad="browser_check()"></body> </html> to work in the "main" frame in this so that the "main" frame is the only one that gets redirected: HTML Code: <html> <head> <meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 5.0"> <meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document"> <title>Triumph's Website</title> </head> <body> <frameset rows="1,*" framespacing="0" border="0" frameborder="0"> <frame name="banner" scrolling="no" noresize target="contents" src="blank.html"> <frameset cols="1,*"> <frame name="contents" target="main" src="blank.html"> <frame name="main"> </frameset> <noframes> <p>This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.</p> </noframes> </frameset> </body> </html> want this done so that it doesn't show the address changing in the address bar and also would like to NOT have any scroll bars and it work on both IE and FF. i have done this in the past just can't remember how i done this before. thanks in advance Hey. My boss has asked me to make a sort of...main user page. The employees will log in to this 'main page' (did this using php) and then they can get access to their time sheets, expense sheets and other things. Im just wondering the best way to do a lay out is.. I need to have the company logo in the top. and then I was thinking a bar just under that with all the different options. then underneath that will appear all the info. Say they pic time sheet, it would appear underneath. I was reading on w3, and I was reading about frames...but when I go to use them phpDesigner v6.2.3, i just get red underlined syntax errors, which leads me to believe they arent correct to use anymore (granted they do get the job done when i preview my page ) If you can tell me what I should research up on, that would be great. I have only been using html, php, javascript, swl for about 3 weeks, so Im no pro by any means oh, by the way, i am using Code: <frameset rows="13%,87%"> that syntax Thanks, Paul Normally when I add a background image to a frame the image repeats itself in a tiled fashion, you know what I mean. Is there any way to change this so it only shows the background image once. I don't want tiled. Thanks!! Arc. In a nutshell: --- The following <li> tags are inline-blocks. Why does removing the closing <li> tags fix the whitespace issue? Code: <li>Item one</li> <li>Item two</li> <li>Item three</li> Versus... Code: <li>Item one <li>Item two <li>Item three The context of this question: --- From: CSS display: inline-Block: Why It Rocks, And Why It Sucks The above post is about using inline-block instead of float to position <li> elements, which is useful for making navigation bars. There is one drawback to using inline-block: (You can copy and paste the first piece of code below to see what I'm talking about.) If you restrict the <ul> to a particular width, your navbar won't display correctly, which has something to do with hitting the RETURN key between your lines of code (whitespace issues?). See below: This works fine because there we didn't hit RETURN to create a line break between each list. <li>Item One</li><li>Item Two</li> Here, we hit RETURN to put each list on a separate line and now the code doesn't display properly. The first piece of code below illustrates this problem. <li>Item One</li> <li>Item Two</li> The second piece of code solves this problem by using comments to remove the whitespace. The third piece of code solves this problem by removing the closing <li> tags. My question is, how does removing closing tags change anything? Are there any issues I should be aware of if I use this solution? Are there other contexts where I can apply a similar technique? Code: <style type="text/css"> ul#display-inline-block-example, ul#display-inline-block-example li { margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul#display-inline-block-example { width: 300px; border: 1px solid #000; } ul#display-inline-block-example li { display: inline-block; width: 100px; min-height: 100px; background: #ccc; vertical-align: top; } </style> <ul id="display-inline-block-example"> <li>Item one</li> <li>Item two</li> <li>Item three</li> </ul> Code: <style type="text/css"> ul#display-inline-block-example, ul#display-inline-block-example li { margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul#display-inline-block-example { width: 300px; border: 1px solid #000; } ul#display-inline-block-example li { display: inline-block; width: 100px; min-height: 100px; background: #ccc; vertical-align: top; } </style> <ul id="display-inline-block-example"> <li>Item one<!-- --><li>Item two</li><!-- --><li>Item three</li> </ul> Code: <style type="text/css"> ul#display-inline-block-example, ul#display-inline-block-example li { margin: 0; padding: 0; } ul#display-inline-block-example { width: 300px; border: 1px solid #000; } ul#display-inline-block-example li { display: inline-block; width: 100px; min-height: 100px; background: #ccc; vertical-align: top; } </style> <ul id="display-inline-block-example"> <li>Item one <li>Item two <li>Item three </ul> Okay, with frames, whenever there is a link that you want to open up in the parent browser rather than inside the frame, all you have to add to the link code is "target="_parent"". However, for INPUT BUTTONS(not links) this doesn't seem to be the case. This is my input button code: HTML Code: <input id="button" type="button" value="Submit!"> the input button is INSIDE A FRAME, and because of that, when I click on it- the link goes inside the frame... how do I make it so the input button links to the PARENT browser? Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knows how to centre an image link in another frame (yes I know frames are bad but its an old website I am updating) i have <a href="picturelink" target="mainframe"> <img src="thumbnail" border="0"></a> I have tried everything from class="center" to editing the original frameset and the original page loaded into the window but I can't get the jpeg file to load up centred and so I was hoping someone might be able to help as I don't want to link all the pictures to seperate html documents with only a centred image in... Thanks for any help. Hey. I have a frame and inside it there is a link. I want it to target an anchor called Code: <a name="anchor"></a> that is INSIDE it's own frame. I tried Code: <a href="#anchor"> but it tries to reload the entire page, and doesn't just "jump" to the anchor like it normally would. How do I do this? Thanks The button in the upper right of this page http://www.hindbrain.net/ex10.php uses an image, home2.png, which is 90x90 and has a transparent background. Yet it displays as shown (I'm using firefox). The background is white, and it doesn't fit. How do you get it to display correctly (centered and transparent background)? Edit: I got it to center by setting the border to 0px. The transparency is still not working. thanks, William I have created a menu on a webpage, and added a rollover effect to it. It's working great. But here's what I would like to do now. When you click on one of the buttons in the menu, and it takes you to that page, I want the button you clicked to stay lit up like it appears in the MouseOver effect. And then restore itself when you click on another menu button. I've seen this used on a lot of sites, so is there a simple way for me to do this? Or is this only possible in something like CSS? Hey guys. Is it possible to assign a value to a radio button such as a large section of text which I have an id to. So for instance my text is <font id="someText">Words</font> I want my radio button value to correspond with that. Anyone have any ideas? -Tim Hi! I am using Dreamweaver 8 to develope my site. I have broken the page in three pieces(frames) So that the top frame shows the title, the left frame is for links that I want to show as flash movies in the right frame. I have studied the help file and I have looked on the web and I can't find an explanation that I can understand on how to do this. I believe the clickable link should be an href but I don't know how to code it. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks in Advance! Paul Here is my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en"> <head> <title>Prospective Student Database</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" /> </head> <body> <form action="insert.php" method="post"> <input type="radio" name="gender" value="1">Male </form> </body> </html> I am trying to follow the W3C standard, which I put in the W3C HTML validator. It keeps giving me a error of the radio button should end with '/>' instead of '>'. Like this: Code: <input type="radio" name="gender" value="1"/>Male But I checked the W3C recommendation. Even their recommendation on the radio button doesn't end with '/>' The recommendation is he http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/interact/forms.html The first example already showed. What is the problem? Thanks. Hello, I am new at web design, and frustrated by a Submit button constantly opening a new window instead of moving on in the current window. When coming to this forum to look for answers, I found a Submit button I then researched...and now I am even more confused! There's some code in the screen you see right after you log in, that looks like this: Quote: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- document.write('<div style="margin-top:0px">'); document.write('<input type="submit" class="button" value=" Proceed " accesskey="s" onclick="window.location=\'http://www.htmlforums.com/f-html-xhtml-4.html/\'; return false" />'); document.write('</div>'); //--> </script> Clicking Submit does indeed move you on within the same window, but my questions a 1. How does this work when...it appears to be commented out! Note the <!-- and -->! And if these aren't commenting code out...then what are they there for? 2. What do all the forward and back slashes mean around the address? (I'm curious about the backslash right before the address, and then the forward and backslash right next to each other afterward) 3. I copied this code into my own page kind of like so: Quote: document.write('<input type="submit" class="button" value="Submit" onclick="window.location=\'newpage.html/\'; return false" />'); Every single time, clicking the button results in a white "This page cannot be displayed" screen--but then refreshing that screen causes the right page to come up! Does anyone know why it won't work the first time? Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide! Hey, I'm jst starting to learn html and I was someone could give me an example of how to create a a simple form with 2 input fields which are set to a value say "hello" in first field and "World" in second field when the button is clicked.
