HTML - Image Fails To Display In Firefox Only & A Phantom" Class .... Huh??

I know from personal experience, the specs and some great posts that DIV's are not allowed inside of P tags. And it's normal to be so, but what about inline-blocks?

I could simply use SPAN or some other inline element which works inside the P, but IE only renders natural blocks as inline-block. Meaning if it's an inline element it will work in Firefox but not IE, if it's a block the other way arround.

So how do I solve this quanundrum?

Either I need an element which is a natural block in IE and is allowed inside a P by the specs, or I'll use DIV instead of P, but I would much rather avoid this.

When I expand menu items IE automatically detects if scrollbars are needed. When I expand them in Firefox and the menus push below the bottom of the page no scrollbars show up. This might be a scripting issue as opposed to HTML - not sure.

I'm looking for a lightbox type script that can show an external .html (iframe) on my page.

I saw it a while back while I searching for scripts but I can't find it anymore, and I wasn't if it was reliable or not.


What I want it to do: Click on a picture or link Opens up a lightbox on top of the Website, but instead of an image it will be an iframe displaying a contact form.

In need of some advice if possible! Myself and a friend are putting together a website, we have little knowledge and I've came across a layout issue. The site looks good in Firefox but within IE the formatting is lost in one small section see below;



I need the 'read more' box to be in the same location as the Firefox one when viewed IE.

What is the proper use of the ID and CLASS tags. I think I know but I'm not entirely sure. My understanding is that IDs and CLASSes do the same thing.

Also, when it comes to the DISPLAY--hmm it's not a selector... modifier?--and its attribute is BLOCK; does that make it so that there's a line break after the </p> like a <br /> does?

I'm throwing together a website for a client and am relatively new to contact forms. I managed to get one working and somewhat styled decently, but for some reason the submit button isnt showing up when I upload it, even though it shows up fine when i preview it from my local folder. This happens in both IE and Firefox. and yes, i have uploaded the button graphic as well.

So Here is my situation:

I have been fighting to update my meta tags. But then I caught something funny? Check the meta tags under these two addresses:
www.lightingbryan.com << this is the correct code

www.lightingbryan.com/index.html << this is the wrong code

look at the top. the index.html has some meta tags that I seem to have included somewhere.

The main issues is isnt those two address the same page? When I go into DW I see the www.lightingbryan.com code. how do I get rid of this phantom code. PS (I manually erased all meta tags from the .com site then manually added the right codes.) Also The reason this bothers me is when I click a link from in the site I get taken back to the .html site.

It seems google is using my .html meta tags which I do not want

The layout of my page, like that of many pages, consists of a bunch of divs inside divs. Whenever I specify the width or height of a div, there appears a space to its left, three pixels wide. This gap also appears when I substitute a standard image (img) for a div.

Some of these divs are floated left; others are not. In the latter case, floating left actually gets rid of the space, but causes other problems as I don't really want those ones floated left.

Setting the borders, margins, or padding to zero (or a negative number) does not affect the 3px gap.

I am using IE7.

I have (what is probably) a very simple problem.
On my site at www.stairworks.ca
No matter what I seem to do, I keep getting this phantom 'space'
between the pictures for 'gallery' and 'profile'
I don't see what can be the cause of it in HTML,
and if I try just removing it in WYSIWYG,
it just reappears when I go to preview.
Any ideas?
(Ps. I didn't write the site, I just wanted to update it)

I have folder image to keep my images where abc.gif is inside. By using "/" infront of the source it couldn't find the image.

I myself am a beginner at html, and I was wondering if someone could (if possible) make it so that when a user clicks an image, the image will change to another image and will change back when someone clicks it again?

I am looking for a way so that when a user clicks this:


It turns into this:


And back again when clicked again. I need this to show for all users too. So if a user on 1 computer clicks the button, it switches, and then a user on another comp sees the images clicked, and can click it to change it back to normal.

Is there a way this is possible? In Javascript, PHP, or mysql?

So I'm working on some "bulk" format emails for my work, and they're just basic HTML designed pages with a few images included in the coding (<img src="www.google.com/image.jpg"></img> ...for example).

My problem is, not necessarily the format or design of the email itself, but rather that every time I send the email out, whether it be gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc, it prompts the recipient to download the images, either in full, or individually - as if they were attachments to the email itself.

For example (this is what our recipients see when they recieve the email...aside from this, the email looks fine):


The email displays correctly, but why does it prompt the recipient to download the images that are encoded in the message? Or better yet, why do other newsletter/bulk emails that I recieve from other companies NOT prompt me to download the individual images?

What am I missing here? Thanks for the help!
