HTML - Dynamic Title Of Page Created From Url File Name
I have searched many pages on this forum for the answer to my question but cannot find it anywhere. I do not know if this can be done in html. I am fairly new to html pages but have been creating .php pages for awhile. I am trying to dynamically create a title for a page based on the url on an html page. I have an existing site that I would prefer to leave html and not change to .aspx or .php.
An Example would be: w'ww.mysite.com/ResultsGeneral.html?kwds=Sweatshirts&color=Gray-Sweatshirts. (Not a real site but an example.) I would want to display Gray Sweatshirts for the <title>Gray Sweatshirts</title> head. I know how to do this with .php. I would use <title><?php echo urldecode($_GET["color"]); ?></title> I have also found out this can be accomplished in aspx by using <head id="Head1" runat="server"> <title><%= Request.QueryString("color").Replace("-"," ") %></title> I need to know if it is possible to accomplish this with .html. I am sure it is something simple like .php but I have tried several methods and looked at a lot of forums and cannot find the answer. I may not be wording the question correctly. Similar TutorialsOk so the objective is to have a background image at the very bottom of the page (not the window) so if content extends past the viewable window, you will have to scroll down to the bottom of the page before the background image is visible. Now everything works perfectly across the board, unless floating divs are involved. If the content in the div extends past the viewable window, while IE still seems to work fine, firefox does not recognize the bottom of the div, and only seems to be looking at actual content on the page. since there is no content on the page that extends past the viewable window, it places the background image at the bottom of the window, and not the bottom of the page. Ok, just made a website on photosohp and transfered it to notepad, then hosted it on free webs http://www.freewebs.com/narcotica. At the top of the window the title says "New Page 1", how would i change this? Many Thanks, Narc Dear Forum readers.. My personal issue is a simple one. I need HTML assistance on the correct tag(s) to use to cloak the link I use to refer to another site. I.E. The link works fine, but the Title at the top of the new page displays the full path as well as the HTML allocated Title. Can anyone advise me how to stop the path being displayed? Thanks Dave Hi Guys really hope you can help I have a site which runs off a couple of templates and what i need to do is add some code into one of the ditable regions so that it will pic up the Page title and drop it in the body off the page. e.g. the page title is 'Monkey23' and i require 'Monkey23' to automatically show up in the Body of the page. I know that I can partly accomplish this with tables, but tables have an even number of rows and columns. http://www.carlmumford.me/email Thanks Let me see if I can explain this correctly: What I want to do is place all of my pages in a single external file (so that as I add pages, I only have to add that link to one file). Then, place links on each page for "Previous" and "Next". When "Next" is clicked, the next file in the list is linked and likewise with "Previous". As it stands, the only way I see to use "Previous" and "Next" is to hard code the links in each page. But that will become a pain since my pages are in alphabetical order and I would have to redo dozens (or more) pages each time I add a new page. Thanks in advance... If you type http://websitename into your browser, the browser automatically loads the index.html file. I use server side includes (SSI) for header and footer, and this, I understand, require the file extension to be shtml instead of html. My question is, if I want to use the SSI on the home page, and I rename it index.shtml, does this cause any problems? I know it works, but does it (a) slow things down while the browser searches for a index.html file first, or (b) cause any other difficulty? Thanks Can anyone help me with this please?
